FFX is without doubt my favorite videogame of all time. I remember seeing my older cousins play it on their PS2 when I was little and being absolutely astonished about how cool was the whole game. Then when I got my PS2 it was one of the fist games that I bought and maybe I played it over 5 times. When I got the PS3 I bought it again and started a new story. Now that I play in PC I´m going to buy it and play it for the 8th time. I regret nothing.

I found this video by way of my recommendations a couple days ago, but I didn't watch it in full till this afternoon. Final Fantasy X is a very special game to me especially its soundtrack. Hearing the music from it performed live with a orchestra & a grand piano was so beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this Final Fantasy X concert on KZbin!

I think what makes this soundtrack so coherent and satisfying is that the music was literally written to be part of the universe. In some media, video games and movies inclusive, music is written to fill the void, to elicit strong emotions such as tears, to move people to anger and violence, in order to entice the audience to sympathize with the characters or their motives. There are other artistic reasons as well, such as to pair sound with the landscape. But in Final Fantasy X, the Hymn of the Faith plays a central role in the story and lives of the characters. Not only is it the source of inspiration for the key melodies that we hear while playing the game, but the Hymn is actually part of their universe. That forms a very special bond between the player and the game.

That is so true! I started playing FF7(OG) now, and I am fascinated by the pure wealth of music inside there. And I am not even at wallmarket! FF8 and 9 caught me in my childhood. It was so well done. Where FF8 feels like an action movie, FF9 deliveres better in forming the story with the music (and remember, FF9 had no voiceover). And then FF10 hit like a brick. Voiceover (which was sometimes a little cringy), combined with music? Truly a masterpiece! In some places I just stood there, switched to the main menu or paused the game and just listened to the music for half an hour or so. (never did that again in FF12, 13 or 15 though...) Uematsu (Sensei? Sensei!) definitely uses the music to enhance or sometimes form the story, not just to fill it.

I'm crying through the whole video. From the first note of To Zanarkand till the conclusion like a Eternal Calm in The Ending theme. From 54:48 and onwards I can't see a thing from my tears falling down. There's nothing else that I can say than "extraordinarily beautiful" for both the game and the soundtracks in this. Still my most favorite game and soundtracks of all time.
