My hopes would be Rebirth winning the GOTY at the Game Awards and FFIX Remake being revealed. That would be a freakin night for us fan of FF.

My hopes would be them announcing that once FF7 Remake is fully finished that gamers can play the OG FF7 storyline without the fluff added on top. I'll keep the world map expansion and side quests, but I just want the OG story. That's what made me love the game - do Square think we waited 20 years for someone elses take on it?

The maximum ideal day to announce it is during the ff9 anniversary next year. If its doesn't get announced after that then I'll concede it doesnt exist or it was completely canned.

FFIX OG is still a masterpiece to this day. The Remake can just correct the few cons the game had : Faster ATB, storable Trance, Better explained Tetra Master. Fleshed out Amarant, Freya relevant after CD1, some of the plot twists of CD3 better explained/illustrated. Why not some new zones, quests, lore too.

If so then that would be interesting, but I'd just as soon as have the full 3D environments. The OG FF7-9 games used image based 2D environments because of limitations in the hardware. That being said, I don't like that they changed FF7 Remake to FF8 style full size characters. I liked the OG chibi FF7 models, even if they were done merely due to hardware limitations. OTOH I think FF9 would lose its character without chibi models - the art was definitely designed that way.

With next year being the games 25th anniversary, I'm sure Square is cooking up something for it. FFIX is my favorite game in the series, and I really hope this remake can do it the justice it deserves. Specifically, just improve what's already there while adding what should be there. Make the combat faster, give us more replay value, add more bosses, and make the characters better. Doesn't need to be a multi-part saga like FFVIIR was. Just ONE BIG game!

I think about the FF9 Remake almost every single day since the first leak in 2021. There's no doubt in my mind that it's happening, especially since the EpicDB leak. I'm so excited to finally see it in action. Fingers crossed for The Game Awards!

I see the story being expanded on. More lore and reasons as to why certain bosses are in the game. Hopefully we get to actually fight in the elemental shrines. More lore on the crystals origins and why necron wants to remove everything. They can add more story for Zidane once you reach terra. See how he survived the trip to Gaia and how terras stuff ended up on Gaia. Ark and the kids tree. Why are the worlds combined already etc.

I can't wait for FFIXR, I also believe it will be coming next year. My theory as to why it hasn't been announced yet, is that after SE announcing they would go multiplatform following 16 et 7R's disappointing sale, they probably decided to port it to Switch 2 (and maybe Xbox) instead of just PS5 and they might be waiting for Switch 2 to be announced to start communicating about the game. That's just my speculation of course.

I’m on team, I believe it’s real. There has been lots evidence and stuff related to FF9 that’s come out recently (whether it’s intended or not like FF9 collab with Ever Crisis, FF9 related stuff in Dawn-trail and FF9 collab with WOTV) among those two major leaks from NVIDIA and Epic Database among also that I do think like Romancing Saga 2/Trials of Mana/Persona 3 Reload/Star Ocean 2 that it will be a traditional one game remake but with still some added refinements in gameplay and narrative while still being turn based and faithful but with better graphics I do think that with the some of the rumours with dev hell (including switching teams), trying to prepare the anime to coincide and Square’s recent restructuring to cancelling lots of games/prioritise Multiplatform and focus on some bigger in-house AAA games, that has put FF9 Remake a little on hold But that’s just speculation and next i also speculate on when we could see it with a few possibilities 1. The Game Awards - Square has a history of being there back to back and as you mentioned there’s a not much of a pipeline for Square Enix games outside of DQ1-2 Remake. It would be a bonus if they announced the anime and remake 2. The Nintendo Switch 2 Reveal: Given how much FF has slowly declined in sales, due to mostly being stuck on a one platform that’s not relevant or strong in Japan. And with them shifting to Multiplat, I do think FF9 Remake would be great for a Switch 2 (even if you take rumours that were was difficulties with Switch 1 that might be canned in or out). So whenever they announce it, likely next year. It would be there just like how DQ11 and Octopath were revealed for Switch 1 3. The Anime and waiting for it to be prepared: As mentioned in the previous first comment. Like you mentioned FF15 has done well with that, but also recently we mostly had a splash of multimedia for video games that has generated revenue and a new audience for the games because of those adaptations (Cyberpunk, TLOU, Witcher 3, Fallout and Sonic). So I think that’s what they’re aiming for. Now it remains to be seen when either two options one at TGA, the second at maybe a special 25th anniversary event like they did for FF7 in 2022

You know what though? It does make sense... in addition to the leaks we've known for a few years now, next year as you said is the game's 25th Anniversary AND, AND... next year is the next Nintendo Switch 2, so it would be an absolute PERFECT release for the remake of 9 and the aesthetic fits the kind of consumers of the Nintendo console, in addition to it aligns with Square-Enix's new "aggressive" multi-platform marketing strategy!!! :O My personal hope for the remake would be make it 2 parts(I know we'll never see a 3 part game like FF7 Remake Trilogy Project ever again most likely, that's the only one deserving of something of THAT magnitude) and really flesh it out and make it absolutely wonderful!!! :DDD

I have always preferred Final Fantasy's ATB system over turn-based and so I'd prefer a remake to have the ATB system like the original over Turn-based.

I suspect the Anime is being used internally to develop a stylized look and feel for the game and create guideposts for the art direction, in the same way they used Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children as their target look for FFVII Remake. It's very possible that they only ever made a pilot, art directed the heck out of it, and then will put it in a vault, but I hope we get to see it. I think the IX-Remake as one release disregards the economic aspects that Square is going to be thinking about. I would not be surprised if they stretch it out to three or four games, using each one incrementally to further develop the tech and storytelling tools, and using multiple games to recoup the costs, same as FFVII Remake. While there will always be that part of me wants the entire game out now, it has been VERY GOOD for VII Fandom that there have been multiple releases, it has allowed a ton of cool merch, fan events, live music events, etc. to occur as part of the marketing cycle, and I would love that experience for IX as well... so it's not all bad news if they go for a multi-game release over a few years. I'm not going to hold my breath for an announcement, and instead by pleasantly surprised. As someone who works in games, I'm very envious of whatever team gets to work on it, what a dream project.

Square Enix has a lot on their plate right, I will give you the line up. There FF7 part 3, FF6 remaster, Kingdom heart 4 and a few other low budget mobile games. I'm afraid FF9 won't be on Square Enix plate any time soon. But chin up lad, I know FF9 will eventually come out again.

FFIX technically isn't turn-based. That specifically refers to games where there is infinite time to choose what to do on your turn. IX is ATB (Active Time Battle), which was premiered in IV and lasted until IX. It hasn't been back since then in the main series.

Acording to Famitsu Romancing SaGa 2 Revenge of the Seven is doing great, no.2 best selling game. That might inspire Square-Enix to do more of that style of remakes. A more faithful remake instead of a revision of FF IX would also be great. Remake the pre-rendered backgrounds into 3D environments, add some QoL features, and redesign the world map. That would be neat; it opens up possibilities for in-game cinematic shots. I might even prefere a faithful remake.

Honestly find it disgusting, but maybe that's partly due to me having a daughter at the age of 13 and seeing full grown men eye her up, then seeing it translate into people like Diddy and epstein, then there's the mods of the newer versions of ff games that take things even worse. I'm just hoping we start straying away from females as thumbnails. Whether or not people are actually sexualising dagger or not I don't know, but I do know that I am sick of seeing female thumbnails. It's predatory in most cases, I'm definitely not saying this about the CC but everyone knows sex sells and women are the industry. I mean look at the percentage of only fans in the 18-24 year old brackets in the US alone. It's something around 33% Essentially a 3rd of women are now using it as a income. I guess I've just had enough of it. Sorry for my rant.
