FF9 spells are so graphically impressive ! Much better than FF10 and it's on PS1 vs PS2...

I think FFX spells intend to be faster and snapier then FFix spells. FFix gets criticized fore having animations that are to long. I personaly prefer the FFix spells but I understand the FFX aproach.

I do love how the framerate jumps up from 15FPS to 30FPS during the S-tier spell animations. Makes them feel like you're actually casting reality-bending magic.

I wondered why Water was a magic attack in Kingdom Hearts 3 and now I know why. It’s a real Final Fantasy spell. Thank you for teaching me this.

I think it’s more accurate to say that draw was based off of osmose perhaps? Not entirely sure, but I was under the impression osmose came first. May be wrong though!

Something I hate about this game, is that Earth, Wind and Water are elements with all magic tiers. But we're stuck with only being able to use Vivi's Water, which you get during ENDGAME. While the enemy has Aero, Aerora, Aeroga, Watera, Waterga, Quake, Quakera and Quakega.

A few enemies have access to Aero and Aera, there is no Aeroga in FF9. There is no Watera in FF9. There is Waterga, though the only enemy in the game that hast that is the Kraken boss. There is no Quake or any variations of spells by that name. There's Earthquake that a few enemies have and Earthshake which a few enemies and Quina have. Quina gets access to Twister as well. Aero, Aera, and Waterga can be cast by Vivi and Amarant with Magic Counter.

@@AtrumNuntius But then you can only use the spell if the enemy uses it first, and if you reflect the spell the enemy probably resists it. And if you were to use Blue Magic as an alternative, you would have to locate an enemy with a learnable blue magic, then drop it's HP to 1/4 and eat it to learn the spell, which is not very practical.

Considering that it hits all enemies and can heal the party I say its still pretty cool and the hp of the bosses are balanced around not being able to break the damage limit. They dont have that much hp.

It remind me the idea of a Wizard/Mage that say "Magic isn't just for function, it's also a display of one greatness" and the reason of why in DnD type world setting that Mage are prideful Nowadays Magic animation in game rather mediocre. I miss the purposely exaggerated animation of Magic in FF old era
