PLEASE NOTE: for all aspiring MK style guitarists, this is NOT how MK plays this song, he plays in std tuning and does not use a capo on third fret. This is the tuning for Romeo and Juliet (national steel part) not for tunnel of love. Credit to Pavel for working this out, but I’m not quite sure what the point is, however it will sure confuse the hell out of any aspiring guitarist who learns this then tries to play along to a video of MK as nothing will look the same. I can’t believe this is actually linked to by the official MK website. Clearly no guitarists running that site.

Lol? Have you seen the video? I explain it's not the way it's played. It's a way to play it if you want to have fun, because playing a few simple chords in standard tuning is not that interesting for one rhythm guitar. Besides, I have dozens and dozens of other videos that are accurate and you write this nonsense.

Sorry, I just got carried away a little with all this criticism from all sides.

Away and take your face for a 💩 he explains at the start of this video that it is done like this to be more fun and to sound better on one instrument as a posed to playing with a band.

Tunnel Of Love! Yes, I can’t believe it myself. I wanted to do this song for years, and finally summed up all my feelings towards this masterpiece. It was truly, incredibly, exceptionally hard to pull it off. Happy birthday to me and this is my present to all the viewers. Thank you for watching!

Happy Birthday man! Thanks for delivering these tutorials. Mark Knopfler always seems so underated that apart from few obvious hits there's not many people teaching his songs. If I can suggest/request an easier song to relax after such daunting task "I'm the Fool" is an easy song for the acoustic I'm hoping to see in the channel in the near future. Thanks again and keep it up!

Hi Pavel! Just wanted to say I love your lessons! I've been learning Romeo and juliet on reso.... As soon as I hit those opening chords I struggle to keep my emotions under control! Keep up the great work AND don't worry about guitars at those ridiculously prices... I have a used Gibson Southerner that is the best acoustic I've ever played and cost a lot less than a new car! Seems the more I play it the better it gets! I bought it shortly after my favourite auntie passed away so it's named after her!

I published the chords for my Open G version of "Tunnel Of Love" on the Ultimate Guitar website. Just by the looks of it, you can say this is a ridiculously hard song. I mean, at least 20 chords! And so many parts, that's insane. I'll update the chords for the next few days because you can't make it right, and some mistakes always slip through. But I hope it's helpful. Pro tip: by hitting the "Transpose" +3 button and "Use Flats" option you can get original no capo chords for the song. Also, I'd suggest trying to play it in standard tuning with a capo on the 3rd fret just for fun. Enjoy! Here's the link: tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/dire-straits/tunnel-of-love-chords-3995041

Sounds great in open G, i'd put my money on him having written it in this tuning, as well as many others. What's the guitar Pavel? Gibson? Warm sounding guitar
@PavelFomenkov2 жыл бұрын
It's Gibson Advanced Jumbo! Yes, this guitar had a fantastic sound indeed. I also think Mark could compose it side by side with Romeo...
@clelandstephen41812 жыл бұрын
@@PavelFomenkov i think he's probably written many of his songs in that tuning. Once heard him say in an interview that he wrote Sultans on acoustic in an open tuning. It's quite possible to do sultans in a similar way to this and Romeo.
@PavelFomenkov2 жыл бұрын
With Sultans the problem is, it quite possible it was a different tune in open tuning, as apposed to just a different arrangement. So it was probably a completely different song.

Not only I acknowledge that, but I state multiple times in the video it's not the way it was recorded. I just find it more enjoyable to play on one guitar than the classic version.

This reply is AWFUL. What is wrong, is projecting your own subjective, narrow minded view onto others and judge their interpretation as wrong. Especially with Pavel who has shown time and time again to be an indispensable asset to this community. Why on earth would you say such a thing.
