For the Catholics: If you like sausage, it's best not to see how it's made.

As a former Mormon I found this whole "how the sausage is made" procedural very interesting. Organizations that claim they are God's true church but at the end of the day are still susceptible to politicking is something I am very familiar with.

I was brought up Catholic and can't believe how laughable and fake it was. I now consider it a form of self delusion that can be overcome with science and critical thinking.

I enjoyed both Conclave and Heretic.

What a wonderful argument with the catholic community. If this book had been written 30 years ago, the plot twist would have been that the cardinal would have had a black ancestor. Or earlier in time, that his parents were non-European.

Saw the movie, I'm an atheist w/ my very catholic sister, she was more upset with the portrayal of the African cardinal. I found the movie well acted and a good watch. The ending you could see coming but my very catholic sister liked the ending. A 7 out of 10.

From a woman’s perspective, my takeaway was that the Catholic Church is so misogynistic that it is the only issue that the liberal and conservative cardinals could agree upon. The nuns were there to serve. Period. The irony in that an intersex pope was chosen is that he has the qualities of female leadership hidden within them that makes him a better leader overall. From my perspective women do make better Leaders and that was the quality that will make the new pope a better choice for the Catholic Church.

I remember Catholics claiming that the Pope chose who became Pope back in the '70's when they were dropping like flys. I was hoping the next Pope would name himself Pope Hilarius II

Oh, for sure it is not going to be everyone's cup of tea. I liked it but I like procedurals like this. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't more of a thriller, conspiracy plot going on.

So the French-Canadian Cardinal would speak with an accent? You mean like Justin Trudeau? Great discussion, though. I forgive you , Domini, Domini I know you're just 'Merkins
