Even years later i'm still surprised how much voiced dialouge FFX had. You can talk to almost every character after every major event or even small event and they will have a bunch of new things to say. They really went all out with FFX at the time.
@ungod87412 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised at how they managed write all that voiced dialogue in a way that they never refer to the main character by name (since you can pick his name at the start), and yet all of the interactions still feel natural. My first time playing through I never actually noticed this until that scene where Tidus listens to the sphere that Yuna had recorded back at the chocobo stable and she refers to him as "the star player of the Zanarkand Abes". Even then I think referring to him as such was fine and wasn't particularly odd, but it wasn't until she said that line that I remembered "Oh shit, no one has called me by my name this whole game".

I remember a few years ago finding the voice actor for Tidus' KZbin Channel, and in one of the videos he shows off what part of the script for FFX looked like for him Now, a typical movie script might be between 120 to 180 standard 8 1/2 x 11" pages, which is pretty easy to imagine, Not even a full stack of printer paper,. maybe an OK sized book worth of thickness. What he showed was probably a 1 foot cube shaped box, with a stack of paper in it that filled the entire box. And he claimed that was just one part of the script, and there were other boxes, and he still had them all. That is a STAGGERING amount of dialog. You're talking THOUSANDS of pages. Which, makes sense, a typical movie is also only 2-3 hours, while the main story alone of this game is usually around 40 hours if you play at a reasonable pace, plus all the side quests and all the dialog associated with them.

The scary part is that this shows that all previous Sins kept their sanity for some time before being completely consumed by Yu Yevon. Jecht wanted his son a chance at life but most importantly to stop the cycle. His life, his home, was all a memory kept alive by a person who is nothing more than a monster now. Destroying it and standing on the ruins of what he did, really shows how strong Jecht became after traveling through Spira. To give his new home the peace he had for so long living in Zanarkand. It's also likely that other Sins tried the same, which could explain how Jecht was taken to Spira by the previous Sin. Maybe they tried but no one came close.

Jecht with his travels with finally found out what “his” Zanarkand were. Auron travelled obviously knowing the real Zanarkand had gone and all of sudden there it is again. As he said “ I saw it in sins eyes” the level of his and jechts feelings were telepathic. jecht wanted him to have a shot as a “real” person the bad and good in life just so his son could exp what real life felt like before he discovered he was a dream and had to disappear because jechts plan was in motion. Auron was a True friend in the end.

@@fugoo8912 I was expecting X-2 to be different but I didn't expect them to butcher it. The opportunities for expanding the FFX world and having a very strong narrative/character-driven Braska prequel would have been great. If you assume that most people who were going to play FFX-2 are fans of the original then it's obvious that they would be really into the idea of exploring the most interesting aspects of the world in further depth. Seeing how things happened and what gave rise to situations in the original would have been really cool. Focusing on just 3 main characters would have given the story a lot of space to develop in much more depth, especially since we already know these characters and are invested in their stories, and the game could have added historical elements like going back in the past even further with flashback-style chapters to explore each aeon's original character and what motivated them, what they went through, and why they decided to become an aeon. This would flesh things out and break up some of the (potential) tedium of having too few playable characters. (This could have been done with Maester Jyscal Guado and his wife, and with the other Maesters too.) Imagine if in each of these historical chapters you could play as the characters who would become aeons and the choices you made while playing them determined the strengths and abilities of the aeon that Braska acquires. Imagine a drunken battle you have to solo as Jecht with a Shoopuff boss for the opponent lol. Such a missed opportunity 😔

Ffx had some of the best older characters, at least for a ff title. Maechen as well, especially after his content in ffx2. A ffx3 like the art teased on the remaster, even though it's probably too late, would have elevated ffx a ton. With ffx2 exploring characters stories from the farplane ie the dead, and ffx3s concept teasing them coming back, there'd be room for all sorts of possibilities gameplay and story wise, and exploring characters like braska and others; with tidus coming to terms with jecht and adopting some of his fighting style, and seeing all of the characters interact together and discuss life and death, all the while fighting their hardest battle yet. Nostalgia aside ffx was probably one of the last memorable casts of a ff mainline title, 12 had 2, I loved 13 and 15 but they never had the combination of emotions, visuals, and world building ffx had, traveling across the world and learning about everyone if you chose to do so; it was probably their closest match to a trails game in terms of caring for NPCs. They've gotten increased budgets and graphics but seem to have lost some of their soul and creativity.

I've always wondered... if Auron is dead... why doesn't a Phoenix Down kill him? Or revive him? How can he be killed in the party if he's dead? So complex. I love FFX. Auron has always been one of my favorite characters in the FF series

@Pwrplus52 жыл бұрын
There is no actual 'dream world', Dream Zanarkand is just a projected location out in the middle of the ocean that nobody could ever get to because Sin would kill them if they went out that far

There's alot of dialogue like this throughout the game, such as finding out that Sin came about because Zanarkand was about to fall and the leaders of that nation essentially summoned it as a last 'f*** you' move to the world.
@tmwk__9 күн бұрын
Even though I've been playing this game since 2001, it still makes my mind explode with all these revelations. Tidus really was from a dream world, and Auron woke him up. No wonder why he was so naive to the world around him and the horrors that the real world can display.
@tristv83202 жыл бұрын
Am still confused ‘til now tho. I played FFX and X-2 but still wondering if Tidus DID actually exist at some point in time (like how the heck is he Jecht’s son if he didn’t) or is he really JUST A DREAM with Shuyin’s resemblance. 🤔🤔
@cruxmind2 жыл бұрын
#SPOILERS I don't remember why Tidus was a dream. Did he die at a young age during the zanarkand attack so jecht dreamed him up? In the game it was said that the Aeons did. So why did Auron explain an attack before he got there?
@imperialist16632 жыл бұрын
During the machina war with Bevelle, the inhabitants of the original Zanarkand were converted into fayth to form a dream version of Zanarkand (as a way to preserve the city as they remember it) and creating the people who live there (Jecht and Tidus included)
@cruxmind2 жыл бұрын
@@imperialist1663 So I'm guessing the cutscenes with his mother when Tidus was a child were before the war? Because I'm also guessing that older Tidus and Jecht were dreamed up. Not their younger selves? The time frames are still baffling lol
@imperialist16632 жыл бұрын
@@cruxmind not exactly. The dream version of Zanarkand and all of its citizens never experienced the war the original Zanarkand went through. Though they're not exact copies of the citizens of the original city, everyone you see in the beginning of the game are the result of the fayth's collective memories and can function/exist like the people of Spira
@cruxmind2 жыл бұрын
@@imperialist1663 but can you see why I am so confused? Because how can they perceive memories of someone who actually lived before the war but the dream version never experiences it? I've been playing since 2002 but it still boggles my mind.
@imperialist16632 жыл бұрын
@@cruxmind it's pretty complex of a plot element, that much I can understand. After playing this game so many times, my understanding is that dream Zanarkand and all of its citizens are made in the way the original inhabitants want to remember it, as a way of preserving the city.
@RedSpade372 жыл бұрын
Well, he certainly gets that shot, but... it sits strange with me, you know? Because Auron and Jecht must have known that Tidus might just fade away anyway. It feels like there might be more to this than meets the ear, like... yeah, you say you wanted to give Tidus a shot at life, but it seems more to me you used him to end the Dream. "Someday, the Dream will end..." It gives me similar feelings to Dumbledore; however, it's been years. I don't remember all the details anymore.
@mrskye082 жыл бұрын
Correct me if im wrong but as far as i know, neither auron nor jecht knows how it will end. Auron knows facts only until yunalesca. But auron is clueless as to what could happen if a summoner denies to get the final aeon. As for jecht, all in he wants is for tidus to reach him and kill him before he fully transforms to the final aeon. But im pretty sure he doesn't have an idea about his zanarkand being a dream of the fayth. Only tidus knows about this fact because bamahut kid told him abt it. So he when they knew they had to kill yu yevon he connected the dots that killing yu yevon means yuna had to summon all aeons until yu yevon no longer has any aeon to possess which means their dream of zanarkand including tidus can finally end.

Pretty much everyone in the dream zanarkand is based on people who were alive in the original zanarkand. Everyone else outside of dream zanarkand is a real person, auron included. Only reason auron could stay in zanarkand is because he is an unsent and jecht probably took him there.
