Best game ever. Still playing 20 yrs later

What you said at 13:45 is exactly what the FFXI experience is all about. FFXI is a beast of a game to get into, so the guides are certainly recommended. But, the magic of the game comes from when you realize that you literally have 20 years of amazing content, over half a dozen of incredible stories, and a massive game world right at your finger tips, and you can do what ever you have the most fun with. I wasted way too much time racing chocobos and playing Pokemon in pankration. No guide will ever tell you to engage with this content. It didn't do anything for me in endgame, but I had plenty of fun. Thanks for the awesome video!

Oh wow, I feel honoured that you'd see this! I guess it's a small community after all :D I'll have to remember to check out Pankration at some point, sounds pretty fun! I personally really have fallen in love with NM hunting, which didn't surprise me at all since I enjoy open-world monster content in FFXIV as well. I get so happy when I find a RoE objective for some random base game NM. Maybe someday I can actually take down Jaggedy-Eared Jack lol. Thank you for all the videos you're made about the game, I'm already looking forward to watching the CoP review once I finish the expansion myself.

Great video! I’ve played 11 and 14 off and on forever. 11 is my favorite game of all time and it always makes me so happy to see new videos and new people getting into the game.

I think the cherishing the journey section is very important because starting a new character in this game from scratch entails spending a lot of time in this game's world.

what's astounding about FFXI is how we all have equal amounts of epic experiences in the game as well as stories about giant wastes of time. Yet, they all end up being memorable and enjoyable. Like the time I kept riding the ship to Selbina from Mhaura over and over looking for the ship to Aht Urgan...

Great video! The part about socializing and being uncomfortable hits home for me, I struggle to socialize on any game, let alone one that most players have decades of experience with. I got through the story/entry level stuff but trying to play end-game content is very intimidating. I'm actually in the same LS as you and they are a nice group, much better than the last LS I was in that was very insulated and if you weren't in their inner circle they basically ignored you. Been taking a little break from the game to recover my attention span for it but I'll say hi if I run into you in game :) I'm "Glow"

I'm happy that this point specifically resonated with someone, because I feel like it's the most important one in the whole video. In the current social media landscape I feel like connection means less and less and I strongly believe we should seek to make more meaningful connections instead. It's tough work to keep up with people and their lives, but it's better than doomscrolling! I'll look forward to saying hi to you in-game when you return, enjoy your break! o/

Oh wow, I need to go check them out myself then, thanks for popping over! All hail the low-poly grapes. You have no idea how wide my face got when I saw those original grapes 🤣

Thank you very much, I'm certainly looking forward to having more free time in a couple weeks time! The video has subtitles, so feel free to use those if you need and I'm glad you learnt new things o7

This is really helpful for new and returning players. I'm considering returning as there's still so much content I haven't done. The only thing that gets me down about the game is not knowing anyone to play with.
@SystinaFF5 ай бұрын
Thankfully there are ways you can learn to know people who already play the game! I wouldn't let that hold you back by itself. Check the official reddit, ask if there's a linkshell on your server that has other returners and put your best social foot forward o7

Started up again after a loooong hiatus. Im happy to see the game alive and well, at least on bahamut
@SystinaFF4 ай бұрын
Welcome back! Bahamut keeps surprising me with how many people there actually are online, I knew it was among the top 3 servers in terms of activity, but I didn't imagine that'd make it seem actually lively. ^^

I bought ffXI within 2 weeks of it's release when I was like 13. I played on and off until treasures of aght. I think I made it to 60 ish with a summoner before stopping. I am back now for the nostalgia, and it is doing it's job.
@shanehunt30194 ай бұрын
I would say something to socializing. If you want the challenge of facing off against your beginner steps, thats fine. But if you want to progress past a point that's just a little annoying there is guaranteed SOMEONE sitting in Jeuno or Mhaura who will gladly blow up your problem for you in two seconds. We love doing it don't worry. If you stick around you'll probably get dragged into Ambuscade to set you up with what'll be your first 119 set worth something.

I've got a level 63 samurai on there with janked out gear cause I can't afford the bis piece for myself and making gil is too much a grind, I wanna play again but I just don't have that sort of patience or the know how that many veterans on the server do
