FFXIV A Realm Reborn Lore: Primals

So far this is the only good channel I've found that focuses on FF. I don't play any of of the Online FF's but listening to any FF lore while playing any of the titles is great. It'd be great if you made some more vids about the single player titles though.

Yeah he did, and the art for the video with Odin, Bahamut and the 6 non-elder primals helps to boot. He is still referred to as such though because of 1.0, where he was considered a primal due to, as Yoshi-P stated, a "situation"

Funfact: Leviathan and Titan were both summoned years prior to the start of 1.0. They were defeated by the Company of Heroes. The NPC who bestows upon you the Warrior job stone and teaches you its abilities was supposed to be its the Company of Heroes newest member.

Probably because they were an inner manifestations of the L'cie and according to the lore of ff13, all eidolons come from Valhalla, where they live under one very important rule: the weak shall obey the strong. Meaning if an Eidolon loses to its L'cie, they are forced to obey them.

I have played and enjoyed all the Final Fantasy's up until 13, which I just couldn't get into due to the awfully complicated and clumsy combat system. But that's alright because I watched all the FMV's sewn together in epic film format on the net, so I don't feel like I missed out on anything in the stories, by not struggling for days to play them through. I probably enjoyed them better than I would have playing through them, and likely never finishing anyway! But when I read about FF XIV A Realm Reborn, I instantly wanted to give it a try during beta testing, as my first ever online MMORPG. Right from the off I found it fascinating to play and beautifully drawn to look at. Of course while playing and enjoying the game for itself and starting out with completely new characters was great fun, you obviously became aware through the appearance of all the high ranking legacy players that there was a great deal of history in the game, which I was unfortunately not really a party to. So it has been great watching your entertaining history lessons Mr Happy, which give a great comment and enhance the back story of the current events, truly making you aware of what an epically deep this story is. I was very happy to see your streams and subscribe to you, as I have never been involved in anything of this magnitude before and have come to realise that in a way it was almost like a second lifestyle, rather than a game which you play and finish, then move on to the next game. This history and events you have recounted, even though it tells the story past where I am up to playing, really doesn't feel like a spoiler. The world, it's characters and their storied lives are just so vast that the more information I can get, the more it just draws me further into the whole story, as if I had been playing it much longer, like the legacy subscribers. Rather than spoil the game, it just makes me even more keen to level up and look forward to taking part in what is still to come. For an ordinary one or two disc play to finish game, these well told stories would be spoilers. In this context because of it's huge scope, it just helps you to better understand what's going on and makes you wish you had discovered it earlier with FF XI I suppose being the natural fore runner. Thank you very much for these uploads and all the work you put into playing and presenting ALL the helpful and interesting net articles you do. You must have a terrific memory to be able to collate not only all this Final Fantasy world lore, into a coherent narrative for us all to enjoy and enhance our gaming pleasure, but all the other helpful and fun reviews and walk through's for other games as well. I don't know how you find the time either. Once again thank you for being there to enhance all our gaming hobbies pleasure and for doing it so fluidly and professionally, unlike some independent internet games reviewers, who just get too excited and start spewing out foul language all the time, as if it is meant to enhance their reviews and opinions. When really all it does is muddy what the games are really about and are sometimes hard to listen to when looking for the real information you want about a game. It just occurred to me, randomly and unrelated out of nowhere, that there is all this fun and pleasure to be had for millions of people all over the world, probably for years to come, without a Kinect or any other expensive fad in sight or sound!

Nice, very informative. I kinda like the concept of the Egi (is that the correct spelling?). Makes it seem more reasonable than the usual concept of the summoner being able to bend the will of a creature that took a full party (or raid) to defeat, like in 11.

the new client is allready on the internet to download but the software for phase 4 can be downloaded on the 15th via the new client, the old client you can uninstall that now if you like, no need of that anymore.... ;-)

It'd be kind of cool to see you do an update on this later with Shiva having new lore being the "Saint Shiva" and heretic to the Ishgard Holy Sea and we have information on Alexander now who is the primal of the Goblins. Bismark is coming in 3.0 and I can't remember the names of the other primals they mentioned. >.

Good run, but there's one mistake you made. The "human sacrifices" aren't part of a Primal's summoning. Apart from crystal offerings, Primals rely on their follower's belief and worship to be stronger. The "human sacrifice" you saw with Ifrit was the Amalj'aa bringing people for Ifrit to Temper. Tempering brainwashes the victim into becoming fanatical zealots to that Primal, thus more worship and faith to bolster them.

Hey Mr.Happy, Whats your opinion on having like 2 characters. Like 1 char where you do most of the melee classes and 1 char for the casterly type of classes. Or is in your opinion just best to level all jobs on 1 char?

I suspect that more primals will be revealed in future patches or expansions. Hell, Leviathan isn't even in the game yet sans lore.

Could anyone point me toward some videos/playlists that will catch me up with the lore _going into A Realm Reborn_, without spoiling what I shouldn't know until later into A Realm Reborn? I just started playing FFXIV and want to know more about the setting! Just, I'm worried about spoilers. It sounds like I shouldn't know exactly what happened at the advent of Bahamut and that is revealed in the endgame content of ARR, so, I don't want to know about that yet (as curious as I am!). But, I am interested in learning about what all happened in the story of 1.0 until 2.0 released (again, only what we're _supposed to_ know). As well as basic stuff about the setting, like who the factions are, details about the different races, etc. So, if anyone could set me up with a good resource for me that I won't inadvertently spoil myself, I'd be mighty appreciative!

Does anyone know if obtaining Egis for your Summoner will be like the system in XI? Will you have to defeat the primals in battle before you can summon them or will it just be a case of obtaining them as you level Summoner? I don't remember ever reading anything about it :3

I feel like the Egis are disappointing compared to the FF11 online summons. It would be cool if the summoners had a special move to unleash a more powerful, closer to the real summon. Maybe even the ability to have the egis grow over time. I know we haven't seen much yet on them but they seem pretty lack luster atm.
