a lot of folks have criticized DT's pacing, but I've loved it. unironically, I think the story of the rite ending with a campy super happy fun time party like you'd expect from a more light-hearted expansion finale, and then looking over in the corner and going "wait we're only level 95," fucking rules

Same! I actually really liked the first half despite some probably nitpicky issues. I was totally expecting the beginning to be slow and more about chilling out, talking to people and having fun taking in the sights, and that's exactly what I got! I do think Smile is too much though. Feels like Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are about to pop up on screen and sing about basketball.

Perhaps it's just me but the writing feels akin to ARR as ff 14 is starting a new saga for it's story. It could be better but it's not terrible.

They never should have released Solution 9 so heavily pre release, which seems to be most peoples thought on the matter, that marketing spoiled what might have been a great reveal. I also think you are glossing over the beef people have with Dawntrail. While the story lacks consistency or is super sped at times and slow to the point of absurdity at others (e.g. in the last rite, Koana comes up to explain to you the cutscene you just watched 30 seconds ago), the vast majority of complaints has been the story telling, specifically the writing/dialogue. As someone who played ARR at launch, I fully expected this to be very slow paced as SE set the stage for the next 10 years, but did not expect the dialogue to be for under 12 years old, which is where most software, AI, and even MSWords readability statistics place the writing. And I think the community is further divided because we'll never get another mature experience like Heavensward or Shadowbringers because people find the under 12 'fine as is' and outwardly wish no one would speak to the contrary. To each their own, I suppose.

​@@Masamune84 I find the sentiment "dont think, just consume" disgusting in general, which is what I see in response to many valid criticism of the narrative construction. That said, I agree that some/many people are crap at communicating constructive criticism, on both sides, with those in the negative being the instigators in this instance. It should be the case that poor writing or inconsistent story telling is pointed out without others attempting to play 'whataboutism' with parts they did like; and the negative reviews ought to focus more on the why they felt it was poor, citing specific examples, rather than just ranting that 'I hated it'. The former is helpful feedback to SE writers, while the latter is as useless as "It is fine, I didn't pay much attention to story, so you did good'. That isn't something a writer wants to hear either.

Not everyone immediately criticize everything during. considering he hasn't resched the climax or final boss by this part, would it even be a fair criticism of the expansion. not to mention he's just playing the game in these parts, and has made predictions before playing in (and touching on a few during the play through). Considering he's still in the middle/towards the end and still has predictions about the end. I woukd imagine he'll talk abiut the ending more once he finishes it. Ir he may be waiting to chat with jp about his criticism
