Who's hyped for Vrtra appearing in the endwalker trailer?

New snippet. Vritra: Azdaja's answer was silence, as ever. Still not much to go on, but apparently even if he can hear his brother, he has not responded in a very long time.

I truly hope we see Azdaja in the future. Considering how Endwalker brought up the dragons again I can't help but wonder if all the Meracydia focus means we'll go there and see the elusive wyrm
@thehighwayman31228 жыл бұрын
You know, whenever I see that image, I think about how incorrect it is to the ones we meet in game. I meant, Tiamat doesn't have a parrot beak, and Nidhogg has a far longer neck, different-shaped wings , and isn't blue. As a matter of fact, the only Dragons in that image who are reasonably close to their in-game appearances are Hresvelgr and Midgardsormr.

Awesome video, Ethys! Love all the lore, and your presentation is still my fave (sorry Mr Happy)! I like how the like ration between these two videos are pretty close. :D

love the dragon lore. as you most likely know dragons in most fantasy based writing are almost like the lesser gods of the world. it would completely make sense that at some point these dragons were guardian/rulea of specific regions back in the Allagan reign.

In regards to how Shinryu could possibly fit into the story it has been said multiple times that Midgardsomr arrived on Hydalyn from another star. If that's the case it's not out of the question to assume that another Wyrm of comparable or greater power could possibly arrive on our world the same way.

I think Shinryu is one of two things, either an Outsider Dragon of the same power and scale as Midgardsormr or a 1st Class Void Dragon with similar levels of power to Cloud of Darkness and Scathach. If he is a Void Dragon I just don't want to see him in a 24-man Raid, I've had enough Void for my 24-mans for a good long while.

Given that the lore book also brings forth the relevation that Midgarsormr's name isn't his true one, I'm putting forth the crackpot theory that he IS Shinryu.
@pandoradoggle8 жыл бұрын
This is a good theory. I endorse this theory! I think even Shinryu wouldn't be his real name, but rather just another by which he is called. Midardsormr is "the World Serpent", and Shinryu is "the Divine Dragon". Same Chinese characters as Shen Long.
@kuroiryu94348 жыл бұрын
Meowing Kittens good idea, another that crossed my mind is considering Shinryu's power I have to wonder if it ever states that Midgarsormer is the only great dragon that existed "beyond the stars"? What if Shinryu is a sibling from Midgarsormers brood or even older than that. Maybe Midgarsormer came to Eorzia to escape / get a fresh start from its siblings and their antics?
@MRorizs27 жыл бұрын
Well, now that we're closer to 4.0 and have more information on the dragon lore, I think it is a possibility that either Azdaja or Vrtra is Shinryu. {SPOILERS ON PATCH 3.55 AHEAD} Considering that Yugiri whispered "Shinryu" when that primal over Baelsar's Wall appeared, it might also be that the eastern people never really talked directly to the dragon himself to know his name, therefore, Shinryu is the name the know him by. About Midgardsormr, if I'm not mistaken, he says that he was created directly by gods (the twelve, or Hydaelyn? I don't remember) so he has no brood, as in there seem to not have any dragon before him or any siblings? But then comes the question that how did he breed? Did he magically create his brood or did he biologically do it?
@DarkMatterZero7 жыл бұрын
Now that Stormblood is out I think this theory of Midgarsormr being the true Shinryu might be well founded. (Spoilers for 4.2) Midgarsormr fled his original planet due to Omega destroying it as Omega and Shinryu seem to be linked in Final Fantasy Canon so to are Midgarsormr and Omega linked as well in FF14 universe. Now as far as the Primal Shinryu is concerned I believe Illberd might have used the image of Midgarsormr/Shinryu for his primal due to the fact that Midgarsormr brought the first true great loss to the Garlean Empire in Eorzea, at the battle of Silvertear, so that could be why Illberd chose the form of Shinryu to be his primal.
@alekzan52496 жыл бұрын
Man, how did you played the main story? Ilberd used Nidhogg's eyes, memories of Bahamut's devastation and his hatred to the Garlean Empire to create Shinryu.

At first i didn't pay much attention to the event of Bahamut summoning but as time passes , the results of what happened seem so wrong and many questions raise. 1)If Tiamat was the first to summon Bahamut , why the prime version of him is so different to the real one in looks? 2) Do we have to assume Tiamat used the aether on her eyes to summon him? 3)Tiamat claims what she summoned was a mockery of the real Bahamut, does this mean her feelings didn't mold Bahamut Prime like Sylphs did with Ramuh? 4)Did she not get a chance to try to talk with him? 5)If Bahamut was defeated by the Allag, what happened to his eyes? 6)When we defeated Bahamut in coil his spirit didn't come out and dissipate like Nidhogg's , why? 7) Why are the first brood so adamant in not helping eachother? Too many damn questions DX
@IceAokiji3038 жыл бұрын
Alexander Andrade 1)3) I'm just making a guess, but maybe either Tiamat's mind was clouded by her anger towards the Allag, or other dragons participated in the summoning, bringing their own anger into it. 2) That sounds very likely. 6) That was just the primal Bahamut, not the real one. We don't see Shiva's or Ramuh's spirit fly away every time we beat them, right?
@warlockwarlord1698 жыл бұрын
on #6 . No that is why i said Nidhogg and no others because he is the first and only one we have seen a spirit dissipation with full conscience after defeat, and because he was a first brood wyrm like Bahamut. but by the time we defeat Nidhogg , he was pretty much a primal too... Hrvasgrl doesn't even call him brother anymore..but "shade" like Tiamat's "mockery" ..even at the Aery he dies in a explosion of black smoke like a Void Sent. so at some point Nidhogg stopped having a real body, yet his real look stayed unlike Bahamut's ... maybe because of the absence of his eyes?

I doubt dragons would be mentioned in 4.0. It's much too soon after the Dragonsong War, and it wouldn't make sense to pack that much interest in one expansion. 4.0 would be focused entirely in Ala Mihgo, without any mention of dragons, until we get to a later expansion that takes us eastward to Othard and Thavnair.

I'm still stunned that one of the two remaining great dragons was not called Shinryu. Really makes me wonder how or in what form Shinryu might appear in FF14. Will it be a title for a great dragon? A really powerful dragon not of the first brood? From a different brood altogether?
@danielmora97817 жыл бұрын
Shinryu is the god destroyer of all existences of life in the lore of previous Final Fantasy games so I doubt he will have anything to do with that brood. He may just be a godlike entity or perhaps the highest pinnacle tier primal of the dragons

I don't know, I kind of get the feeling Midgardsomr is the first. Even if he isn't, he is almost certainly the highest "ranked" dragon we will ever see in FFXIV, they can't keep saying "he's the most powerful dragon.. but oh wait here's one more powerful from outer space to fix everything". That's a slippery slope of story telling.
@NatyaVT8 жыл бұрын
Tiamat claimed that Midgardsormr "arrived on this star" (referring to Hydaelyn) carrying the clutch of eggs that would later become the first brood. Pretty much confirming that the dragons of XIV are extra-terrestrial in nature.

Jason Tran I don't really want to spoil too much for those who have not seen the story yet, but at the end of 3.4 we (not in character) see someone give a certain rebellion leader a certain pair of eyes and in the past these eyes created a certain thing.... some in the upcoming 3.5 patch and beyond we might see a certain character return. ( I am trying to be as vague as possible)
@kaen4178 жыл бұрын
no, nidhogg is most definitely not going to make another appearance
@GoTHiCPrINcEX8 жыл бұрын
not physically no, but he is going to make a return via corruption. Don't forget that the last time someone held both eyes Nidhogg took control of them ultimately fleeing to regain his body. with the ending of patch 3.4 we are once again introduced to the eyes once again. As to where Griffin decides to use both eyes or hand one to his trusted ally, i bet we are going to see Nidhogg come back if not only for a little while.

Before anyone annoys me with stupid comments, this is just a question for Ethys Asher. Do you think that the Au Ra were created by Bahamut and Tiamat? Before anyone says that's this is a stupid question, let me explain something. I said created by Bahamut and Tiamat, not born from dragons. This means artificially created. The fact that we know that dragons don't have a major body mass difference is obvious mention, same with the enhance hearing and spatial recognition. What I'm asking is if the two dragons could have been made to be a form of warrior and/or servitude beings before the younger dragonkin were born. This, of course, would be if they were made before Bahamut became a Primal. If you're not Ethys Asher, then I'm not even going to acknowledge your comment.
