Ah, the Sunken Temple of Qarn, it's the only sub-lvl50 dungeon in the game that I adore. The architecture, layout and mechanics make a run-through of Qarn (normal or hard) feel like a bit from Indiana Jones, it's so much fun! It was really cool seeing Qarn used as the backdrop for "The Griffin's" rally at the end of HVN, we don't get to see dungeons used for isolated scenes like that too often. (In fact... that's the *only* time in the MSQ where a dungeon is re-used in isolation for a scene. Huh... neat.)

I wonder if Nenekko will make an appearance with the upcoming Criterion dungeons, given her expertise in Sil'dihn history. I doubt most would even notice the connection, but it'd be a cool callback.

Sunken temple Qarn was nerfed twice back in the day. If I recall correctly killer bees and cats would make people quit and if that didn't do it final boss gave one hell of a Lazer show.
@SynodicScribe2 жыл бұрын
Yeah people couldn't be bothered to stun the bees or slay the adds, so it needed nerfing. Like so many other dungeons and trials. >.>

Loving the dungeon lore series so far! It's been really cool delving into the lore of these places that honestly the quests kinda only scratch the surface of. Bela'diah is intriguing, though I wonder if we might find some more stuff about it from the Sil'dih stuff coming up too

@SemekiIzuio2 жыл бұрын
Hm why?
@Skijaramaz2 жыл бұрын
@@SemekiIzuio If you mean 'why was it in the MSQ,' its been a bit, but as I recall, the justification was that the Scions were needing more funding for something and so sent the WoL to the sunken temple to help clear it out and they'd get funding in exchange or they'd get to sell some artifacts they plucked out of it. But it's been literal years since I ran it for that and it cannot be done like that anymore anyway, so I dunno.

Aww I was kinda hoping to learn how they animated their guardians, but I did enjoy this glimpse into the history of Belah'Dia. I don't remember my history very well, but I wonder if there's any relation to the history of the White Mages of Amdapor and their golemancy to the Belah'Dians, or did the descendants of either the White Mages and Black Mages have something to do with those defenses. I went to review the lecture on the Sixth Astral era, and I am reminded how a lot of this is technically 'recent history', in that it was only some few hundred years ago compared to our modern Eorzea; like modern historians of earth looking back to the 19th century and not something as far back as the rise of Rome
@SynodicScribe2 жыл бұрын
Actually Belah'dia was the direct descendants of Mhach. Survivors of the 6th Calamity ultimately moved south and created Belah'dia. Which then splintered into Ul'dah and Sil'dih.
@umitencho2 жыл бұрын
@@SynodicScribe So maybe their golemancy was an approximation or poor imitation of the Amdapor version? I can see Mhach having teams dedicated to studying the magic of their foes and the descendants of such researches who survive the 6th setup the defenses of such places or left behind surviving records(at the time) of what they figured out.

I was not happy with the 2nd follow up quest for Qarn (Hard) I thought Nanako was the one setting the traps unaware of the damage killing her teams. Apparently it was the bandits and some researchers survived so that's really good to hear

Qarn, Qarn, Qarn. How I wish I could love this place but so many times me and my friends leveling 50 plus jobs and we're dragged there by the random person we get paired with who is also level 50. The first version is the duty I have seen the most so I'm so burnt out by it. And when I do get sent there for helping a person of the right level everyone rushes ahead leaving the healer behind and die or rapidly keeps killing the head stones before they push the buttons so we end up taking longer then if we took pull to pull not wall to wall. It is the only time lore is killed by players for me. Thankfully since getting all jobs to 80 in ShadowBringers and trusts I got all jobs to 90 without needing to return so I don't even know if the changes to ARR duties even changed this one. Now the level 50 that one is the reverse it is my least played 50 duty so it is a blank in my head. Beyond the story we're off to save a scholar unware the traps are on. I forgot looters triggered them behind her so yeah that feels sorta right only in the low level Qarn people avoid the loot even when the sprout tank really could use the gear from here. Also isn't this where your glamour comes from?

The bees can still one shot you. I try to mark then or say in party bees first sometimes they heed my warning , sometimes I dont need to say anything cause they get cheesed and other times tank dies which I rez asap because I see it coming. Animated security golems that double as a puzzle. Anyone with proper knowledge (or smart enough on their feet) should be able to relocate the heads to their proper spaces to unlock the magically sealed path. There was probably an activation code created by the Belah’dians that would keep the golems and traps in their proper places but since we obviously don’t have it everything keeps running autonomously.

As stated in the video. The temple of Qarn was used to worship Azeyma, goddess of the sun. Most city-states in Eorzea both new and old dedicate their worship to 1 of the 12 deities.
