Ethys, I was under the impression that a familiar is a part of your very being not unlike an Egi and as such simply traveled back with Alisaie to the source because it's a part of her now until it is destroyed. The fact that they only reference making it the one time in the First leaves us to conclude that Alisaie did not simply make it again on the Source and that it is the SAME Angelo as before. Also, you can point the fact that it disappeared at the exact moment when it allowed the Scions to shed their aether shells which I saw as it returning to Alisaie's aether that was then contained within the spirit vessel.

10:47 I would argue that 5.3 was even MORE memory-related than 5.4 was, considering that was part of Elidibus' ultimate tragedy. And if you think about it, Werlyt is about memories too, in that it's about Gaius' legacy AND the bosses use the memories of our old foes against us. Eden has also always been about it, starting all the way back in E3 I would argue. not to mention the trip through Cid's memories in 5.2. Shadowbringers has been about memories since 5.0, it's only been getting more and more on the nose each patch

I don't know why people don't like us finding a cure for the tempered or how the whole peace in Limsa was easy. Like we haven't been basically work on a cure for tempering since 5.1. Or that Limsa would have to move on from pirating and trying to make peace with the besstmen once/if Graramald becomes allies. My only thing with it is I am surprised we didn't talk to Jack or the Arcanist guild as they both would be wanting to know and find out how exactly the Executioners were becoming filthy rich over the other two main groups. Since that's their jobs when sneaky crap like that happens.

Maybe the physical body can't be restored, but maybe the souls of the repeatedly tempered/transformed can still be restored? If that does happen, I can't imagine how it would affect their psyche.

I think you're wrong about "super tempered" possibly being a thing in the future. Only G'raha Tia knows the magic about memories separate from a Porxie and the Porxie does both simultaneously. I got the impression that only he can cast it because of the Allagan Royal Blood as it is based on that magic.

Yes, but what if someone captures one of the Angelos and “dissects” the imbued magic to reverse-engineer one of the spells? Now that this magic is out in the world, the chance of someone using it in an unintended way should at least be considered. Additionally, the dangerous part (Awakening the soul without suppressing the tempered will) didn’t require G’raha at all; that part is based on the method Alisaie used to help Halric’s soul recover from light poisoning.

Physical transformation, tempering and the like,, including the citizens of Ishgard, what of them? The people that turned into a dragon, is this simular to the effects of tempering, sineaters, victims like the drowned, etc, if so could this new 'treatment' be used like a vaccine for the citizens of Ishgard? now knowing the disturbing history of its citizenry?

That is if those Ishgardian's who became dragons even WANT to go back to being frosty elves. There's no evidence that they're even close to being tempered, or tempered-adjacent. Perhaps what happens is that the soul of the imbiber is, over time, moulded into the 'shape' of a dragon? Whether or not there's any mental interference is anyone's guess, but controlled or no, the imbiber will be changed. Lets not forget that dragons are literal aliens, and as such their psychology; magic, and souls, are going to be alien. If they retain free will, then I don't see a problem with letting them stay that way. As well, with the peace between dragon and man, it might not be prudent to piss off the dragons by forcibly turning converts back against their will. To me, it seems that what happened in Ishgard during the Dragonsong war is just normal religious fanaticism, as seen in our own history. People branded heretics were driven to the dragons. It's only natural that they would take the side of their saviors, especially after being told the truth of the conflict.

I assumed a Porxie is still like a Pixie and she’s summoning it across the Rift. The other quest line of this patch implies they can cross the Rift after all. It’s a construct in part of her aether and will, the”where” seemed irrelevant, at least to me.

Sadly you hit the nail on the head with that 'why didn't the Scions' B Team handle this?' comment. Yeah, we spent a lot of time on this kind of thing in Ul'dah in ARR, and Ishgard in HW for that matter, but those sequences really didn't leave me with a great impression of either place, Ul'dah in particular. For that matter... we really didn't DO anything with the pirates. Completely passive storytelling about Merlwyb (which isn't bad in itself I guess, but meh). There's breather episodes and then there're plot sequences that are so poorly timed they feel like filler. Also... the lead up to the dungeon? My mind didn't go where yours did, somehow. So... thanks, I hate it. Didn't hate the video though, thanks as always for posting and sharing your takes on these!

The story of this patch felt so dull. Just revisiting side quest from past expansions. It was good, but felt so padded. Like eating a whole plate of potatoes. They are tasty, sure, but when you finally get to the steak, and my or my was it a DELICIOUS piece of steak.. but it was only 3oz and you were done in just a few bites. Also doesn’t help that I give ZERO SHITS about Ga Bu! And then the “it’s Ascian!” Plot of the final Eden raid, really pissed me off but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. (The Eden story got much better and almost had me crying at the end but they ‘plot twist’ of “ASCIANS /fireworks” had me so annoyed..) I remember 4.0 to 4.3 being amazing and mind blowing for me and then 4.4 was like, eh? That’s it? And 4.5 was just okay but being split into 2 just to drag it out really hurt it IMO. I bet 5.5 will be the same.. maybe I’m just grumpy lately, but this is the first patch in years that I felt was a let down. Hope everyone else enjoyed it though, just ranting my opinions.
