I made an oopsie. Divine Benison used to be 15% not 20% even still the verdict is the same unless you have 20% in healing action increases then new DB outvalues old DB very slightly.

@@nihalzeor8085 Which side of it got buffed though? It seems rather weak as a HoT but viable as a shield. Horoscope and Neutral Sect look amazing if you can find ways to spend a GCD or two with them. They stack up nicely too. It really looks like AST wants to be with a SCH still to me, which is not good. All of its newer tools really encourage using GCDs to get the most out of them, which hampers WHM's ability to use their GCD kit to maximize their DPS, while SCH can adapt by rearranging its own cooldowns where necessary.

The point of afflatus rapture is to combo with Plenary and a medica, while the boss is casting a partywide use Plenary and start casting medica, once the medica goes off hit rapture, your entire party should be full or close to full HP.

If lilies worked like aetherflow then it may make it feel less rewarding and push it towards how 80 sch plays now. I enjoy the different jobs for their differences. Giving them all the exact same mechanics would make things dull and take away even more of their identity.

Affaltus Misery Potency scaling based on # of Blood Lilies is something I can get behind, it would help make the whole Lilies mechanic feel alot more engaging yet still match up with the WHM lore quite well. If you practice patience and keep a calm mind in the midst of battle, you can unleash a much more powerful attack, but if you need immediate firepower, you have the option to just hit Misery sooner. It would honestly be a small, but great change.

Yeah same... as I used to be an Astro main and would have loved Momo's impressions of it. But I totally get why he doesn't want to level it. I quit that class after a few dungeon runs. It felt really awful and I couldn't see it improving when reaching Level 80. So why force yourself. This is a game and should be fun. Astro... is no fun at the moment :( And trust me, it makes me so sad, because I used to love this class.

I don't expect Tetra to get a charge because the new lilies more or less act as a sort of charge mechanic anyway (Solace). Overall I like the new lily mechanic way better than Stormbloods iteration of it.

As of right now, Temperance feels a little... lackluster for a lvl 80 skill. It would be better if it gives you 3 stacks of Blood Lily to something of that effect in exchange for either buff.

Cure 1 allows oGCD without clipping. Only other way to do that is to use the instant cast abilities like dia or afflatus. Not sure when that would be a potency gain though. Biggest gripe I have is how late shields seem to get applied. Amount of times I've put divine beni on tank and it gets applied AFTER the tankbuster ¬_¬ Temperance + asylum + beni may be a useful raid shield though.

These videos are incredibly informative, I only beat all of the Savage raids and not any of the ultimate fights as SCH, but it feels meh now as dpsing is insanely boring, white mage is looking cool but I dont feel busy enough playing it as I did with stormblood SCH, so I'm trying out Astro, so far I'm lvl 74 and it feels super busy and fun, although I did notice that the heals are quite weak compared to the other two, anyway, doing an astro video will complete the healing trio, that way anyone that is figuring out what they want to play could watch your videos and be fully informed

I agreed pretty much entirely with your SCH video, but have one gripe with this. I’m actually really satisfied with the aoe lily heal, it’s perfect to me. Used by itself it’s a perfect top off tool and with planary, asylum, or temperance and it’s really high crit rate makes it a perfect aoe near-full heal. I would like to see misery usable with a single blood lily and scale up for multiple. Maybe that’s just me. I was hoping for an AST video, honestly. I’m enjoying the challenge of full-pulls while leveling it.

Hmm whenver I used Rapture it never it felt like it had good crit rate Pepehands. I think it's good when paired with Plenary or Asylum but by itself I just can't seem to acknowledge it but again there's the issue of getting Plenary up for Rapture in the first place since it requires a weave and unless it lines up with Dia you'd probably clip your GCD to get it up which feels really bad to do.

I agree with you , putting it at 400 potency would just be another assize-like ability , not doing same damage but having it on a 30 second cooldown (if you choose that mainly for aoe heals) would be a good compromise for assize. It has the same potency as.medica one , so you could cast medica , followed by rapture right after , making medica technically a 600 potency heal. 1000 if you used plenary indulgence . At leqst thats how i see it

It actually pairs well with assize, too. If they happen to line up, it's a pretty beefy heal and lets you weave assize into it. It also pairs well with other healer's ogcd heals if they're not enough and a global is necessary, to bring those skills up to a beefier party heal. The same is true with tetra and afflatus solace--it's sort of like a poor man's benediction, especially if one crits, and you get the benefit of tetra getting weaved rather than raw dogging it on your global. It's pretty good to use tetra in that way (wait for a lily, then pair it with tetra and benison on the tank).

I usually plan rapture to pop right after cure 3 on plenary indulgence for high damage stack mechs. Titania EX for example during the double stack, place Asylum in the middle while both groups stack, meet in the middle, PE, cure 3 + rapture can solo top party up quick fast and in a hurry. I feel like rapture was placed as a tool to be used as needed or paired with PE. Just my opinion though. Keep up the good work

I've been maining whm since the beginning and, though I really do love the way they have it set up now, it truly feels like overall healing potency for whm have been severely dumbed down. It is MUCH more of a struggle to keep the tank healed. Tetragrammaton does next to nothing it seems and even with all the GCD afflatus heals, that HP bar just persistently melts away. You have all these heals at your disposal but the potency is so lacking compared to before the changes. On a large pull I'll divine benison the tank to shield him initially while I then throw up Medica II (so short now!), regen (also shortened)(EDIT: throw up Asylum when it's off cooldown) cure when needed. Preliminary Indulgence and Temperance helps but depending on the situation, the boost in potency may not cut it. I have absolutely NO breathing room and I feel like I literally never stop healing for a second. I've pretty much stopped doing Holy spams for extra DD since pulling out all the healing stops isn't enough to prevent the tank from getting creamed while I do the Holies. I think they should at least speed up the progression bar of the Lily Gauge juuust a smidge. Just too slow imo. I dunno. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I've just never had this hard a time healing since.. 1.0 lol!

You think WHM has problems? AST is gutted and horrible to play and 10 times worse than WHM. WHM also has the ability to make sure DRK dont die with their living dead ability ( which is a stupid change to the ability cause SCH and AST struggle with DRK if there's no WHM)

ATM the one thing I wish for WHM is to have charges on Assize. This would finally allow us to use the first charge for dps and keep the remaining one for Healing. DPS Wise, I Don't think it would be broken. 400 more potency over a 8min fight won't make or break our dps. But from a Healing and gameplay perspective it would be a very nice addition.

Imo we shouldn’t be having to wait for savage/raid to see if playing healers feels good. They should feel good now in the mainly played part of the game and feel better and even more engaging to play when we get to savage/raid. On scholar I’m still doing dps the majority of dungeons and quite a bit in Ex fights too.

Despite the good amount of oGCD heals we get, I would argue that Cure I is still very useful for mana management. I use Cure I as healing maintenance for the tank, and a Cure I can pretty much heal 1/4th health of DPS and healers. Cure I can also proc a free Cure II, which can then be saved for a bit and thrown on the tank. Casting multiple Cure IIs can drain your mana very fast.

The thing is, mana management as a WHM is a non issue. Unless your party fucks up REALLY BAD, you're never going to need to play that safely with cures. Furthermore, the way WHM is designed now actively incentivizes using the most efficient heals in your toolkit, and disincentivizes using inefficient cures when not necessary. When I say efficient btw, I mean damage efficient. Cure 1 is the most inefficient cure a WHM has per GCD, so it's in a WHM's best interest to never use Cure 1 except in the extreme cases where nothing else is available and your nearly out of mana (which is very edge-case. The only time I've ever had to focus on mana as WHM is dying after using both thin air AND lucid). It has it's use, but it's in a WHM's best interest to never use it. Same with Cure II, though Cure II is much more efficient and therefore preferable to Cure 1.

How would you feel if, instead of Misery being usable at lower Lily numbers, the lily system was instead expanded so that it went Healing Lily -> Upgraded Nuke/DoT/Fluid Aura Lily -> Feed the Blood Lily 3x to misery? The concept of beginning from using GCD healing at the best time to preserve DPS remains. The upgraded spells could be made instant for even more weaving potential and perhaps make the lily cycle DPS neutral or a slight gain on single target w/o raid buff stacking. This makes WHM stronger still, but I think such a change would come along fixes for the other healers. I find it gives more a more immediate feedback loop and could be a foundation upon which to further expand the lily system as room for WHM to grow, as our base GCD kit is pretty solid aside from maybe another healing downtime spell. Also, I really want Fluid Aura to be improved rather than scrapped. I'd like to retain the "nature/druidic" aspect of FF14's WHM. For example, in my proposal above Glare would become Quake when used with a DPS-stage lily. My ideal for Fluid Aura is a flex skill: it serves as oGCD damage + bind on enemies and oGCD something beneficial for teammates.

As a Paladin main, though not to the Shadowbringers area yet, I have a bit of advice to help White Mages work in sync with a Paladin a bit better. Paladin has the longest stun in the game, 6/3/1 seconds with the diminishing returns. I know a lot of WHM love to go up in a group and pop Holy, Holy, Holy, Holy, then finally heal. I know every player wants to do damage, but in how the Stun mechanics work, that is a 3 total seconds of stun, just the first rotation of the 3/2/1 seconds as many will hit it before the first 3 second timer is done, this means it doesn't add in the 2 seconds but overwrites the 3 second timer and then overwrites the 2 second timer. Now I know the argument is that Holy is an AOE stun and higher potency than Shield Bash which is single target. However with the changes to the Tank's enmity generation now being just doing any skill with only about 2 skills that add additional enmity this means tanks can use other skills once a single 2 combo AOE is used to grab agro. What I mean is that you can let the PLD Tank do the stunning, which will leave the stuns for when enemy AOE skills or Cone charged attacks are getting ready to be sent out. Also in normal pulls of dungeons and raids, this means a PLD tank go in, use Total Eclipse+Prominence combo, then do a round of Shield Bash to stun each target for 6 seconds. Given that most normal pulls have been about 3-4 mobs, I'm finding that once I go around and get them all stunned for the first 6 seconds, there is about an extra 1-2 seconds of no damage being put out by enemies, then second round is 3 seconds, then 3rd round is 1 second stun. With how the DPS are actually putting out a bit more damage than normal with their changes, this means they can focus fire one of the enemies down a lot faster, usually during the first stun round, and then the next one during the second round, and all also giving the healer time to just Regen on the PLD and get their DoT up on all targets and toss out some single target DPS. I know everyone will blast this idea cause we're still stuck in the mindset of pull every group from start of the dungeon to the first boss, AOE down the 12+ targets, and tank can stand there taking damage all day long cause mobs hit like tissue paper. Well that was when we were all in gear of a much higher ilvl than allowed in the dungeon, now the tanks are the ones who are tissue paper cause they don't have Protect to help their defense and their gear is at the minimum required ilvl for the place instead of up so high they feel unkillable. This means healers are having to focus more on healing, and it means using any mitigation you can is important. I even wouldn't mind an old fashion pull style of the healer using Repose to put one of the mobs asleep to give a good 30 seconds of that mob doing absolutely nothing, and Black Mages have Sleep which is an AOE CC spell, so much could be done if players weren't in such a full bull rush to the boss fight to make it where things go nice and smooth instead of smashing buttons and then someone blaming someone else for a death and waiting on them to either run back or having them ressed with Weakness. We have Stun, Sleep, and Slow that can be used but most of it needs to actually be used and having people focus targeting instead of AOE spam cause of pretty colors. Also AOE might put out more total potency as compared to single target when combining the potency totals of an AOE on 3+ mobs but you have to think about he damage dealt by mobs as well. If you AOE a group of 3 mobs then they are all doing damage for the say 15 seconds it takes to kill them. So say each mob does 10 damage per second well that's 30 damage per second for 15 seconds equalling 450 total damage dealt to tank. Now if you have 3 mobs and you take 6 seconds to down a single target mob, giving a total of 18 seconds battle time, at the same damage rates, that's (30x6)+(20x6)+10x6) which comes out to 360 total damage dealt to tank. This means the healer's job is easier cause less damage is dealt and it goes down with each mob that is killed, meaning the healer can do more damage himself and likely shave a second or two off the time it takes to kill the 2nd and 3rd mobs. And yes low numbers were used to do easy to follow math. Add in the Stun being used properly and you can shave off 180 off that 360 leaving it to 240, whereas the Holy spam in the AOE scenario only shaves off 3 seconds so it's only taking off 150 leaving a total of 300. So there's more to fights in an MMO than just burning them all with fire, and I personally feel that the removal of Protect and how the mobs are hitting harder in the new dungeons is showing that devs want us to notice that fact instead of feeling like we are all indestructible superheroes.

I'd actually love to see Benison be able to consume a Lily to buff its potency slightly, that way you have an additional skill that you can dump lilies into should you not need immediate healing while having them up. But yeah, I basically agree - White Mage feels the best its been in a long time and I had a great time leveling it and playing it in the endgame dungeons. Afflatus Misery is great, and I agree that Rapture feels a bit weak, but maybe that's to compensate for Plenary being usable on multiple heals.

i dunno if u read this^^ but im WHM currently haveing some thoughts on GCD use (xivanalysis imprvements) for bet GCD use during movement heavy parts my thought was if i dont have 3 lily or about to get the 3d i just do Dia as a sort of instant Glare and also for weaving in assize etc. if no healing needed /not at 3 lilys or seconds to 3 lilys

Thanks for the literal ton of information and a great presentation. Makes things easy to follow at least. But everyone is still thinking in terms of healers having to do damage. If SE follows through with their statements, it sounds like the average healer won't be doing much in terms of DPS. I, along with a plethora of others are of the mind set that we do damage when we can because we need to, but healers are healers and should be forced to focus on that above anything else. I personally am just tired of picking up the slack of lazy DPS classes because it's expected.

out of all the Healers, WHM allows you to DPS more and be able to sustain your heal to damage ratio far exceeding the other healers. With both Solace and Rapture to use every minute and a half you can move and heal without having to plant and cast. That means you get either 3 extra Tetra's on a GCD or 3 extra Cure 3 potency when paired with Indulgence. That's a whole lot of mobile healing without MP consumption. That leaves and frees up your Assize and Tetra as extra healing/damage respectively. Then you have Asylum and Temperance that give you an extra heal potency up + a psudo-tank skill on a healer (+10% mitigation/ +20% heal increasement). This allows your scholar or astro to work more efficently in the fights as well.

My only problem with your thoughts is with rapture. Personally I end up playing with a lot of PFs for ex trials, so people don't exactly neatly stack to use cure 3 on for aoe healing. That basically leaves me with the medicas, rapture, assize, and plenary. Unless I know I need to save it assize is probably going up pretty much when its off cd, so that's probably gone. If medica 2 buff is up thats gone. Plenary is more of a pair with something. Which leaves medica and rapture. I'd use rapture way before I'd use medica for the instant heal vs cast and to build my blood lily.

The biggest things I would want for white mage right now are 1) a third, Lily-burning skill that nourishes the Blood Lily and doesn't heal (i.e. a shield or utility like +damage); 2) a trait where GCD heals and (less so) Regen's ticks advance the Healing Gauge towards another Lily.

I main whm and farm the newest extreme trials. I stack nothing but crit / det. Having so many instant casting, no mana costing spells, mixed with usage of Lucid Dreaming / Thin Air, your mana bar stays above 50%

That's crazy that they let asylum healing buff work on all healing actions....even itself? So an already 900 potency regen becomes 990... that misery change is a wonderful idea I hope ppl say that more in forums so they change it to start with on lily and misery is accessible with 1-3 lily's consumed.

I'd love to know which skill drops a 900 potency regen. Asylum is 100 potency regen and the Regen spell itself is a 200 potency heal. Afflatus Misery, 900 potency, is an AoE attack skill only. No heal attached.

I'm a savage-raiding whm myself - and I strongly agree with everything you said and mentioned. However, with all respect, I would kindly suggest comments towards non-hardcore (ie. dps-parsing healers) players. Something like cure I will be hardly used, or assize for dps purpose - seems too one-sided towards dps-parsing healers. Whms that are midcore following your guide will totally cause raid wipes because they didn't cast the needed healing skills because they listened ;)

Are you sure? I did test it quite a bit and the shield value was more or less the same and never a crit value shield. The shield value can fluctuate though like any other heal which is maybe what you've seen?

WHM feels like its the same place as it was in Early Stormblood, where its more solid and reliable compared to the other two had major issues early but quickly got buffed and fixed while WHM lagged behind. I don't see any reason to not expect that cycle to repeat itself.

I love Solace, but I wish it was off the GCD. I can live with it still on the GCD, but that'd be p nifty to be able to throw those out in quick succession when needed or weave them between Cures. I haven't done level 80 stuff yet but from Shadowbringers dungeons and trials so far I've had a lot more healing done via Solace combined with Assize, Asylum, Divine Benison, and Regen than my Cures. When roulettes put me into sub-level 52 dungeons/raids it definitely hurts my soul since I've gotten SOOOOO reliant on Solace AND YES, MISERY. I love getting it as it feels like I just dropped a flower nuke on the mobs. I wanna say I like the Plenary Indulgence change too, but I also can't even remember how it worked in Stormblood soooo. Oh and the Glare/Dia change is a nifty visual change

Putting Solace off GCD would absolutely break WHM. The damage increase on top of the heal potential it'd have would be so high that WHM would almost instantly become the best healer in the game. The point of putting Lilies on GCD is to create a design philosophy that encourages efficient healing. From a design perspective in a boss scenario, it's better to think of Misery as being non-existent and each cast of Solace/Rapture dealing 225 potency. This is, of course, less than the 300 potency of glare -- meaning you still want to cast GCD heals as little as possible -- but if a WHM is able to use as many Lily skills as possible rather than the basic cures, a WHM is able to output way more pDPS than other healers in practical scenarios. That's how it's suppose to work in theory anyway. Savage isn't out yet, so we'll see if WHM ends up working out as intended, but early signs are looking good.

I take Misery as a damage bonus for spending the lilies, not something I must 'waste' them on cd just to cast it. Also Cure has a bit of a niche use when [squishy] tanks pull entire rooms and your mp can't handle spamming Cure II and are out of lilies. Freecure procs need some credit lol

Depends on the skill level of you and your party. I have never used Cure as a White Mage because there was no reason to. Proper MP management and things dying fast enough are very important. Even in duty finder I never ran into such MP issues that I needed to cure but none of my parties were that slow so i'm not sure.

Only time I ever have problems with MP is right after a res, but that's what Thin Air is for. From what I've heard and seen WHM probably has the best MP management out of the 3 healers.

The only thing i miss is aero 3 . I also kind of miss cleric stance, it was a pain in the arse yes but it separated the men form the boys to so speak. As for the damage buff from lillys , how about add a damage skill ( like areo 3 back or something) that consumes a lilly ?

Global cool down it’s all the skills that are reusable after about 2 seconds and all the others are ocd or off cool down which take at least 30 seconds up to 3 minutes before using again

I love the new whm, but I wish their new skills (solace and rapture) were ogcd skills. I feel weird about using instacast abilities that make my gcd's activate because that 2+ seconds, you're literally doing nothing except ogcd skills....but maybe thats just me and I'm still getting use to whm's changes

This is a job that punishes you if you don't balance your MP and overheal. A role with a lot of personal responsbility, as I observed in some of the tougher group instances. That said, I cleared the MSQ for 5.0 as a WHM and while it was a struggle, I eventually did enough to keep the party alive in the final trial. I also use this job for my main Lvl. 80 treasure map hunts. Currently leveling SAM as of this post.

one thing I noticed when I did a trial with a second WHM is if one uses Plenary Indulgence, it affects both WHMs heals, so one can pop PI and the other can heal after.

This video made me feel bad at WHM, I've been playing it as pure healing and almost entirely GCD and saving non GCD skills for dealing with unexpected spikes (which itself shows my lacking) and I rarely even bother to attack, this makes me want to improve though, also great insight into the changes.

As a SCH main im fairly sad to be honest... DPS on SCH is terrible compared to WHM. WHM got additional damaging abilities like Misery. SCH got Bane taken away which essentially makes SCH spending 50% of each pull just apply a dot before you can begin attacking. On top of all of this WHM heals are bigger and their aoe Potency is higher.... Just feels worthless playing SCH right now

Losing Bane wasn't that bad since Art of War kinda made up for it. Losing Energy Drain actually hurt SCH the most right now because of how you're encouraged to overheal just to refresh your Aetherflow and gain fairy gauge.

You may be right in terms of schs dps being bad and it being boring to play but honestly despite the potencies SCH is a far more solid healer than WHM right now. It has slightly lower potencies per skill but a far higher number of skills and especially oGCD skills, meaning it has way more options. As momo pointed out in his SCH video: Right now SCH is fully capable of solohealing ex trials while using half its kit and not even needing to worry that much. That is not the case with WHM and especially not with AST. Don't get me wrong, I hate the fact that SCH is utterly boring and low dps now as I used to play it a lot in Stormblood but it is definitely not weak in terms of healing but actually outperforms the others.

Lord Fluffykinz global cool down. Means when you cast a gcd action all the other gcd actions have that clock symbol going in them that shows you can’t use them as well until a certain time period expires.

its a pretty broad MMO term. It means Global Cooldown. It's a period of downtime after you cast/use a skill preventing you from using another until it's finished.

Afflatus Misery for me feels too weak for the time spent preparing it. 900 potency sounds strong on paper, but in practice, and due to damage falloff, it's not nearly all that impressive. It's great that you feel it completes the job, but the cumbersome and unwieldy nature of the skill just makes it pretty lame. It's only decent on trash mobs, which don't generally live long enough anyway. On bosses, you can do the same damage and more by casting Glare three times, without needing the Lilly mechanic at all. You mentioned 5 oGCD heals, but I count two. Benediction and Tetragrammation. Both Afflatus Solace and Rapture are spells on the global cooldown, even though they are instant cast. It means they can't be woven between skills like the other skills can. Divine Benison isn't a heal, but a shield skill. That one is at least an oGCD skill. At a stretch you can count Asylum, but that's restricted to a specific location, and relies on a weak heal over time. Hardly likely to save your tank from annihilation. While WHM certainly seems the stronger of the healer classes now, it's in a weird spot. For me, at least, it doesn't feel good to play. It just feels cumbersome. We're forced to burn through lillies to use AM, but MP conservation (thanks largely in part to the ridiculous MP and MP regen changes) is a bigger issue so we're also forced to conserve our Raptures and Solace's for when they're needed. WHM is my only level 80 job currently, but I can't say I enjoy it as much as I used to.

Afflatus Misery is not really underwhelming and is not "really only decent on trash mobs". It's practically a 225 potency GCD per Solace/Rapture GCD you use (this value only increases when you get it under raid buffs. Let's say you get this Misery under Trick Attack now your Afflatus is 247.5 per GCD.) Which makes it better than clipping your GCD to weave skills like assize. Doing Glare > Glare > Solace + Assize > Glare will be a DPS positive eventually over doing Glare > Glare > Glare + Assize Clip > Glare. Here's an example made by Rin Tin (it may not be perfect but gets the point across) i.imgur.com/h8Ss2HH.jpg Not only that but actually comes out to a plus regardless in situations where there are more than 2 enemies on the field which tends to happen a bit in raids. While it can also be used as an AOE tool and weaving tool you can also pool and use your lilies during downtime and unleash a big hit once the boss is back for free damage. So I disagree that Lilies are useless and fill the gap currently of WHMs needed. If Misery scaled with each Lily it would be perfect for what it is. Also White Mage has Tetra, Bene, Assize, Asylum and Divine Benison on the off GCD. Regardless if Divine Benison is a shield or not it's still calculated as an HP buffer which values to a 15,000 heal. Divine Benison is actually stronger than Tetra from a PPS perspective because it can't overheal unless the Tetra would have Crit and you get 2 per Tetra. Regardless if you see Asylum as a tank tool it absolutely is and I remember countless types in the past raid content where it was just used as a tank regen. Now that it also affects healing actions it's even better tool for that use as well. That aside just because it isn't a single target tool doesn't mean it's not qualified to be an oGCD tool which is where it looks like your mindset is at?

It does not have a big damage falloff. It only drops 10% for second enemy, down to 50% past the sixth enemy, same as BLM Foul. Compare that to BLM Flare which drops 40% for second enemy and beyond. SMN Akh Morn which drops 50% for second enemy, SMN Phoenix, both Brand of Purgatory and Revelation drops 50% on second enemy.
