@Ricardo Santos Aiming for a freecure proc is useless and a waste of time. If you're good enough with mana management the cost of Cure II won't make you even blink. If you really need a "free" cure, then use your lillies' Afflatus Solace or Tetra. They have the same 700 potency that Cure II has with no cost and instant-cast.

@Ricardo Santos I've found that most of the time in dungeons over like level 50, Cure I just doesn't heal enough to be worth it. You're better off just casting Cure II if you don't have Tetra or a petal. As long as you go into the encounter with most of your MP and pop Lucid Dreaming around 6k mana, you should never be using enough mana to need to pray for a Free Cure proc.

Unlike some people might think, endgame dungeons are actually tend to be easier than 71- 79 dungeons. Because 71 - 79 dungeons will sync down your item level heavily. Well of course I’m talking about mitigation and healing perspective. Just try wall to wall pull in a 71- 79 dungeons, compare to expert roulette dungeons, even with endgame gears

The are only 3 pulls which are risky to do „wall to wall“. First: 2nd one right before the first boss at the 71. Second: 73 fist pull after the second boss. Third: 75 Last pull before the second boss. The rest only gets difficult if you run with two melees. Every other I mentioned can be lb by ranged (phy and magical)

Tell you the dungeons I really hated while leveling a Healer. Arum Vale, Bardam's Mettle, Doma Castle, and Mount Gulg. But I really felt Bardam's Mettle and Doma Castle were hardest for me. Its imo one of the largest damage spikes going through dungeons vs the tools you have access to.

I’m a Healer main in FFXIV and I think it’s rude as f**k when healers pull more mobs to the tank. If I feel they’re not pulling enough I can say in chat “I’m comfortable healing bigger pulls if that suits” but I won’t force the tank to take more than they’re comfortable with. A sprout player tanking something like Sohm Al may pull smaller because they’re still relatively new and tanking might give them anxiety because they’re not used to the responsibility of setting the pace. Pulling more mobs to them to get the dungeon cleared faster might be making them more anxious and impairing their enjoyment of the game, which might make them reluctant to tank at all and/or turn them off the game entirely. Your issue is that you assume that’s how everyone else wants to play the game. When it may not be. I'm a tank main and I HATE when healers pull mobs ahead of me. OR use rescue to yank me into mobs. It's disrespectful imo. Makes me want to shirk aggro onto them. Often times I see other WHM spam Holy, but What I like to do with Holy is to time it, make sure my Holy hits when the previous stun effect about to run out, and weave in Dots in between.

Get ready for the onslaught of rees over saying to use a regen while pulling because it's _never_ an option. Like hey, if the regen is going to do its work because the tank stops at every pack for 5s, I don't mind the extra odd hit that won't kill me and I'm running in the same spot as the tank anyway so the enemy's not going to be off in narnia. And hey, the odd hit on me is a hit I don't have to heal the tank for. Aside from that, as far as I'm aware, essential dignity's potency dies off pretty quickly past a point. It's been a while since I saw numbers somewhere, but humour me in something like 30-50% of their health where any extra potency beyond that is much more minimal. And thank god for that too because I would nearly kill them otherwise. Of course low-level dungeons it's a full heal anyway so you still get the thrill of dropping the tank really low. Regarding holding on to it, 40s means it should reliably be up every pull even on the non-80s where things die faster unless you're doing like one pack per pull.

I really want cure 2 or regen or lily heals to have like a glare proc or something. The cure 2 proc is actually very intuitive, but useless in the way it was applied. In fact I think someone did the math and estimated that you're better off using cure 2 carefully over time than trying to bait a cure 2 proc. You waste MP trying to spam cure 1 than you would being smart about Cure 2 with regen and whatnot.

To cure1's credit, at least it's handy for the short cast time if the tank is low right after a pull in level 50 dungeons. It's also handy when your MP gets super shot from cure2ing in Brayflox while crying that you're one level away from regen.

For my own experience. Cure 1 is very situational. There are times where my tank was dying. A tb was coming up. And I was late. He need heals now, no flowers over, cure 2 would not save it. Beni was needed for another part. I used Cure 1 and weaved a tetra since it cast faster. He survived with around 900 hp. You can tell that was the right thing to do. Though maybe lucky on crits to? I do not remember. But when it comes down to cure 2 progs. Its way to inconsistent of a % to rely on it

@@Qazqi The shorter cast time doesn't matter since it has the same recast time as Cure II. You can cast jus as many Cure Is as you can Cure IIs in the same stretch of time. The only time this matters is when the tank is almost full HP so Cure II will overheal, at which point you shouldn't care.

On AST I usually just go Diurnal, stack Aspected Benefic and Aspected Helios+Horoscope, Celestial Intersection and Earthly Star, and then just flip cards for a while. After that, usually Earthly Star+Horoscope or an Essentia Dignity takes care of any burst healing I might need to do, and then refresh the regens afterwards. A bit of prep work and a keyboard dance when I reach the pull wall then I can basically gravityspam/cardspam for the rest of the pull without really worrying.

Great tips in general, but man, you're underselling recitation-excog. It's an 800 potency heal which is guaranteed to crit, and all it costs are 2 weave slots, which you have plenty of in trash pulls. Between recitation-excog, aetherpact and seraph, you can (with a good group) heal through trash pulls without ever spending an aetherflow on healing. (To be fair, the damage gained from energy drain isn't exactly huge, especially not in 5.4, but optimizations never hurt, and it can help burst high priority targets or help bring high health targets in line with the rest of the pack.)

on using Aetherpact on SCH, it's actually about the same healing potency as your fairy's auto heals, and having it active also stops your fairy from auto healing. You basically just use it so that your fairy doesn't auto heal the wrong target, so if a DPS takes a hit and Eos decides it wants to divert its healing from the tank you can instead keep it on the right target. Also, iirc Fey Illumination doesn't boost your fairy's healing, which is like, half of your healing spells that you actually want to use, so you can usually ignore using it while outside of content where you don't have a cohealer.

A small correction, as a WHM it's NOT effective to use lillies in AOE for misery. Instead, wait till you've cleared the trash, then spend your lilies while walking to the next pack. This way, you get Misery without having to use lilies in combat, thus having more GCD's for damage.

Yes, afflatus misery is almost 5 holies worth of damage in a single gcd, so dumping lillies between packs is definitely worthwhile. You can at the very least do it when you're (almost) capped, to keep the cooldown rolling, while still always having a lily or two available, should you need them.

Great video! If I may though, there are some things I would like to add in regards to general healing in dungeons as well as some specific job stuff that I've learned when playing. This mainly being the importance of setting up for a pull and having the freedom to actually GCD heal with no loss in between packs when you can't do damage anyways. Things like using adlo on the tank and also yourself if you have deploy up for a free oGCD shield when the tanks shield goes away for scholar, or using an aspected helios with or without neutral sect to have the more potent horoscope effect for the pull on astro as a few examples.

Yesterday when i did msq roulette as a whm, the other whm was wasting time putting a regen on every single party member at the beginning of every boss fight and that's when i realized that they're new to healing. Because as time passes and you keep doing dungeons as a healer you'll soon realize that you don't need to keep the group/tank at max hp 24/7. You're only stressing yourself out and wasting time you could've spent dps-ing. My problem went from not doing dps and only focusing on healing, to getting so into spamming holy that i forget i have to heal and end up popping a benediction on the tank.

I find that I put myself into a habit of placing Asylum over the tank in partnership with regen, that way for a few moments the tank essentially heals himself. This usually leaves me with time to spam, you guessed it, holy. Is this a habit I should break?

You mentioning AST is based on skill is an understatement.. im a returning player and my toons are around 70 and i just play with random people and everytime i do dungeons and im with an AST the heals arent that good bec i think alot of players are so focus on cards and DPS that they dont see if healing is needed..btw i picked up Dark bec of ur review.. getting to level 70 now.. keep up the good work :)

I was doing a dungeon over the weekend as DPS and the Tank asked the Healer to Heal More and DPS Less after he died on trash.

If a tank dies to trash it's most of the time their fault for not rotating cooldowns. I never ever have to heal good tanks in dungeons. The tanks job is to take as little damage as possible so all 4 of us can do full dps. If I have to heal because the tank is doing poorly then we are doing 3/4th as much aoe dps

@@Sammysapphira The best tank I ever saw in a Dungeon was in WoW - I was healing and they were dressed in all heirloom gear - all heirloom gear for casters. Took virtually no damage and led the meters in DPS. But those are very few and very far between.

@@Sammysapphira so you saying if a GOOD tank pulls 5 mobs and takes no damage while healer can do full dps is a GOOD tank while a tank who pulls 10 mobs and u actually have to heal him is a bad tank cuz u cant do full dps ? you realize that 3 dps doing aoe on 10 mobs beats 4 dps doing aoe on 5 mobs by far right ? and that a real dps aoe is probably doing more dps than a healer one. im only lvl 58 maybe it will change later but im pretty sure at good tank witch pulls alot will take some damage.

@@lolleonlolable I've gotten WHM and AST to 80 since I wrote that comment (as well as all 4 tanks). There are definitely times when you can focus on DPS while healing... but you need to stay awake of the situation as well. I've had those moments where the tank health went from fine to critical much faster than I anticipated.

SCH is weird cause compared to the other two healers it's all about how you combine your abilities For example Emergency Tactics + Recitation + Adlo = Benediction Or Illumination + Aetherpact to get the most out of the regen Or Dissipation + Excog when the tank is below 50%

im a very lazy healer in dungeons. i ask tank to pull eveeything, then cast biolysis on every mob while walking, then once we've reached the end of the room, i just cast my excog+fairy regen. then its art of war all the way. if tank hp becomes dangerously low(which is very rare, since most know how to manage their cds), i use recite+adlo or just excog again.

Personally when playing as Whm in lv.80 dungeons, i "encourage" the others to get damaged(obviously not that kills them) during mob trash and feed the blood lilies. With asylum,tetra,assize and bene around, i have almost no use for cure 1/2. And it worries me when some whm still uses cure at lv.80 dungeons

Except it's unnecessary a lot of the time for many of the dungeons in the game. Regen has amazing total potency and lets you slack off, but if you can do fine with just ogcds, no need to waste a gcd on the regen. So many dungeons hit so low that you can dick around for a bit, toss a tetra, then dick around some more until the pull is dead. That will likely be more true of the 80 dungeons once we're into the next expansion and everyone has top-tier level 80 gear for dungeons meant for dozens of ilvls below that.

If Clemency will save you from a wipe, go for it. If you are leveling PLD and you have a competent healing buddy you can use Clem to heal yourself instead of a healing GCD which wouldl've otherwise been a Holy/Gravity/etc. it's better than just wasting the Req bonus before you get Holy Circle

I will critique using fey blessing for single target healing, since Aetherpact uses the same resource and heals more. I use recitation excog a lot in dungeons, it has a low cooldown and can be used out of combat. Fey blessing alone is enough for some dungeon AoEs, because there isn't much damage. Used with whispering dawn, they become a medica 2. I use sacred soil if I want to be extra safe. And dissipation after pulls. SCH is great in dungeons because seraph, fey union and recitation provide more free dungeon healing than is needed. I even get to dump almost all of my Aetherflow into energy drains.

With AST you can run circles in the arena without interrupting your cast just slidecast and keep Lightspeed on cooldown :D But with WHM I play like a BLM. I dont move.

AST tip for max healing to a single target: Synastry → Benefic II → Essential Dignity. You have to intensely press the key for E. Dignity as if you are clipping but thanks to the slight lag to the server, E. Dignity hits before Benefic II's result. Thus, combined with Synastry, this whole process gives a similar healing effect as White Mage's Benediction. Now you can save Dark Night from Living Dead even when you are not White Mage :)

You don't have to hammer the ED button, fortunately. If you queue it up during the B2 cast, it snapshots your target's HP before they get the heal from B2.

Picture this. You're a SCH and you are doing expert 80 dungeons with an ilvl of 466 (where the minimum is 460 to Que for it). You have no materia and the gear you currently have is consistently being replaced as it is bare minimum ilvl to do the dungeon so you don't want to blow a bunch of VII or VIII materia on it. The tank is a gunbreaker with a mentor tag and the dps is a black mage that doesn't like to move out of his regen aoe regardless of enemy aoe's being on top of him. He just expects me to heal him through it. The last dps is a summoner who is new to the dungeon, has similar gear to yourself, and also is CONSTANTLY standing in boss and mob aoes like he inherited a suicidal guys job crystal. Then with all that going on the gunbreaker mentor tank tells you that you should really be dpsing so the THREE wall to wall pulls he's SPRINTING to collect goes faster. How do you respond? We never wiped but that was the last time I will ever heal. Way to much bullshit expected of healers in FFXIV. Tanks and DPS have it so laughably easy in comparison it's pathetic. Never played a White mage but honestly the experiences I have had with SCH has made me never want to heal again regardless of people telling me it is so much easier then Astro or Scholar. I'll stick with my paladin, ninja, and mechanist thanks.
