I'm doing every single relic right now and Anima is still my favorite (for aesthetics and grind), after the first one it's very easy to just gather all the items you need over time and turn it all in but it's still broken up by dungeons and the light step so it's still an actual *grind* without being a hellish slog that makes me want to cry like Pagos and Zodiac's Atma step and the knowledge that I still have 90 Timeworn Artifacts I need to get. Personally I'd love more real relics, I'm very much hoping we get something good in DT with the field operation zone but for the love of Hydaelyn and her bountiful bosom; **make. the raid(s). optional.** Stop funneling a bunch of people who barely know what a stack marker is into content where they need to know right from left and how to read a big ass hot/cold marker above their head *and* be able to figure out the obtuse essence/action system. And if they're not optional, make it more like Hydatos where the whole zone is rewarded somehow when the raid is run! I remember late ShB instances refusing to run Dal because it wasn't a good enough investment for the mettle, anyone working on honors (esp for the title) had no reason to go in once they got what they needed out of it. And absolutely fully agree that the first field operation relic needs to be entirely within the content with optional outside content afterwards, it's excellent future proofing because it should be faster to just be in the field operation content but if that content dies off/server is dead/etc. someone can just go hit some FATEs for a slightly lower drop chance. Fingers crossed we get a ShB/EW fate step though. I want an excuse to also farm bicolors with a relic.

What gets me is that the Xbox Live sub requirement is what killed the Xbox version way back in like, 1.0/2.0 era. SE and Microsoft disagreed over this requirement because SE wanted the same deal as they had when FF11 came out on the 360 and Microsoft wouldn't allow it (their reasoning for 11 was that they wanted more users on Xbox Live at the time). It's still dumb though. We're not using MS servers, so just why beyond being greedy? I did want the Xbox version (no PS5 and allows me to use my laptop separately from the game itself), and I do have Game Pass already, but still. Just dumb.

My brother doesn’t have a PC or PS5, already has an XboxX and GamePass and is planning to play the trial. He isn’t bothered by anything in the beta post.

Was thinking of getting a low-end Xbox when my PS4 craps out or when PS4 support ends, instead of a PS5 cause of the lower price point, but yeah, absolutely not...

Xbox, as a console in the US at least, seems to be an option for folks who want to play MS ecosystem games, and can't afford/don't want to shell out for a gaming PC. Which is a not insignificant market. I'm completely unaware of any XBX/S exclusives that are not also on PC on the MS Store at minimum.

I've been hoping for FFXIV to come to Xbox for years. I'm only on the Xbox platform. I want to play the beta but it sounds complicated to even get an account linked. I have no problem with GamePass as I've had it for years pre-paid.

It’s not complicated at all. If you have an existing account, don’t do anything at all for now. If you’re brand new and want a new account, follow the steps.

Something to consider, Square Enix has NOTHING to do with Game Pass, Microsoft requires Xbox players to have Game Pass/Live to access online features. Square Enix are not the 'bad guys' here

Three of my friends who have XSX with are Game Pass subscribers have downloaded the game. They aren’t really mmorpg players but are willing to give FFXIV a shot. When I explained to them the potential subscription fees associated with the full game. They didn’t look at it as “oh I need to pay twice?!” They already have Game Pass. Not for FFXIV but for games available in general. This is my personal opinion after watching/reading comments about the Game Pass/FFXIV dual subscriptions requirement. Many of those not liking the setup aren’t Xbox users. They are FFXIV veterans from PlayStation & PC. Most Xbox players already have Game Pass. It’s like most PC gamers have Steam. It’s nearly synonymous that if you have a Xbox, you have Game Pass. Lastly, there are plenty of FFXIV players who have never spent money on the game. Playing FFXIV on the free trial. Xbox open beta/free trial is exactly the same deal and don’t require Game Pass. For me, I rather have as many Xbox full game players in FFXIV than none at all. Will Xbox/FFXIV players reach the number of PS/FFXIV hell no. The game has been out on PS since its inception. I’d assume there are more PC players than PS players. But having Xbox join in means even more players to the game.

I've always wanted to play on Xbox myself, and now that I have the opportunity I'm going to take full advantage. I got a taste of FF:XIV years ago, but I could never justify buying PS for just that game.

Honestly wish House Valentione is a Gridanian house instead of Ishgard’s. Still think it’s strange that we have two whole holidays that come from Ishgard yet they don’t celebrate it in city themselves.

I have exactly 1 friend who actually has an xbox in my main play group and he just sorta shrugged and went "my household already has the xbox live and uses it, if [person he wants to invite] plays they can just use the free trial version, i'm happy on my pc" and i feel like that's gonna be a lot of people's reactions as exiting players. If nothing else it's a great advert for the trial version on its own, especially for players who might not have or be able to keep the xbox subscription long term. Personally I'm appalled by the greed on display on Microsoft's end and feel like it should be causing a bigger stink than it is, but I've got no real stake here as a ps player. I do think it's even funnier now that someone played the boss fight music when the Microsoft guy came out on stage at Vegas fanfest. Very on point, even if it was a coincidence.

don't most people with xbox have xbox live? Aren't almost all their games requiring it? seems a moot point

There's no such thing as Xbox live anymore. Xbox live has been discontinued for quite some time now It's ONLY gamepass now. And, subscription games where the game itself requires its own subscription, do NOT typically require gamepass to play, no. And the main reason for that, being that the game does not use Xbox servers. That's why it has its own subscription cost, because the game has its own proprietary servers. So it really is just for the sake of MS wanting to try and get more subscribers to gamepass. However, it's unnecessary. It's greed basically.

@@siyreanAs a Xbox owner, I can assume that most owners are Game Pass subscribers. At least the ones I know. Oftentimes, people even forget they are subscribed to Game Pass until they find out a game is “free” to download. Or when it’s time to renew the subscription.

For some reason I decided to read the comments before even starting the video, and I feel like a lot of people don't understand the idea that needing Game Pass or whatever to play is such an unnecessary requirement, regardless if so many people already have it, especially since you don't need PS+ for PlayStation. It's just plain greedy on Microsoft's end. And then you don't need it for the free trial? I didn't remember that part, and that makes it even worse.

the game pass sub doesnt shock me tbh, its probably something Xbox has stipulated MUST be mandatory if sqeenix wants ff14 on the platform and they dont want to back down on that like sony because gamepass is like... all of their actual revenue

First time I listen to you guys, and probably the last. Your criticizing of the Xbox beta is so low as it is a beta; I understand you don’t want new players to join. Was always told the FFxiv was a wellcoming community - I guess they were wrong. I don’t have a gaming PC or a PS console - sorry. Have really been enjoying the Beta since the start.

Uhhhh, I...have been playing this game on console the whole time. Guess how many settings I changed on PS3? None. PS4? None. PS5?!?! Fucking NONE. Xbox...are you okay? Need a tissue? Because I am flabbergasted at the requirements to TEST the game (demo). That's...some first grade weirdness.

Xbox/FFXIV open beta (free trial) doesn’t require Game Pass. Full game down the line requires Game Pass. So, I’m not sure what requirements you speak of to TEST the game.

Dudes stop with the xbox bashing and misinformation bs about the sub requirement. PlayStation used to be free, for two years now since, they introduced rhe new tiers to ps plus you have to have a minium 10 dollar monthly sub or your system is useless, a sub is required. If you put xbox and psn side by side the requirements are the same on both platforms to play.

Anyone who thought they wouldn’t need GamePass is a fool. Making a big deal out of this is just silly. Even games like CoD these days require GamePass even though they have to buy the game + season passes.
