You honestly got all 100% items, had no cuts, and even took the time for the items to load so that the viewers can confirm what they got. I'm incredibly impressed at your dedication to this dungeon and glad I watched this. 5 hours?!?!? I was on day 2... then again I am not sure because I have 8 hours by save but paused from police shooting and SWAT rolling around that my PS rested twice. Good old Atlanta Suburbs. Still this is a feat. I have to go back and get some things, if needed. I will later. What made it the worst was by the 3rd Ascension coin they were full. I was livid. This was the 1st time my palms would sweat while playing. Probably have a cracked tooth. Didn't break a controller or teach my kid more words than he already knows from me 😂. It all played out in my head though. Especially still running backwards when reset to go to a previous reset... Platforming Final Fantasy... Since FF1 and Dungeon Warrior I would've never thought I'd hear those words ever in 30+ years. Yeah they've shook it up here or there but the certainly made me want to be Rachet & Clank or something here. Float with cape at least. Can you imagine if it killed you? Just remember you get a total of 68 coins in there, so make some room. One pack in particular in Rock Bottom has 12 at once so don’t accidentally loot it while you only have room for 1 coin :(

Do the menace dungeons in roughly the order of their level and that should get you most of the way there. I don’t remember having to do too much grinding to complete those. Once you’re done with those you’ll have a better idea of what you’ll have left.

Just finished my second time beating this dungeon. A lot of people hating on it due to the frustration. I feel it’s not so bad if you know beforehand somewhat of what you’re getting into. I just feel a lot of awe and amazement for how they created this dungeon. A lot of square games had post game super bosses, this is a post game super dungeon. I think it’s cool how it’s just so unexpected, there’s really no other parts in the main game where platforming is a thing, yet they made an entire super dungeon solely with platforming. I think it’s also cool when you learn the lore behind the dungeon then it’s just even more awe inspiring how they put together this whole thing. If you don’t like platform games and don’t like solving puzzles then you’ll probably hate this dungeon. I just think it’s really not that bad if you sit back and enjoy the experience and appreciate the work that went into making it. This time took me about half the time to beat as the first time. I think the first time I did it was about 4 hours, the second time about 2 hours. First time I think I looked at little to no helping guides. It’s kind of fun figuring it out on your own

2022. Done. All of it. Full Tilt and Perspective were just a lot of fun. Wall and Rock Bottom were super cool. None of it was easy. Some of it was traumatic. Ascent and Gateway had parts that were so frustrating I'm never going back. Thanks for the walkthrough. It gave me hope there was going to be an ending.

This dungeon would have been OK in say a Zelda game or 3d platformer, but ffxv doesn't have good controls for this. @@ElDuende05 i think it might have been like the second or third walkthrough on gamefaqs, I'm late to the party and only started playing this game in 2022, but i think i prefer water theme dungeons in Zelda to this dungeon and that's only because the controls. Noctis keeps moving even after I've jumped and landed, had the same issue with red dead 2 with Arthur doing the same thing lol, i think they probably just needed to refine the controls so it's not so sensitive but also so the jumps don't frustrate people as much. But other than that it is a genius dungeon, i just think the 72 hours i spent on it i wish i could cut out some of that time falling. I think the next game i play after this one will be horizon forbidden west since i think 500 hrs burnt me out on ffxv. Btw did you defeat noctis on episode ignis and aranea in episode prompto? I didn't even attempt those two challenges after seeing how hard they were and i was like nope Im not skilled enough for this haha.

Fortunately the gates and shortcuts remain open once you get outside and save, so it’s actually surprisingly quick to go back in and pick up anything you missed. Other than the obvious Black hood, notable loot includes a cache of rare items such as Zu beak on a secret ledge near the bottom of the diagonal area and a ton of coins in one of the side cages in the statue room.

Man, even with a dope ass guide, this dungeon took me 5 hours and I died 73 times. I did some math to show how silly this dungeon is: I died more times in this empty-ass dungeon than I have in literally every other dungeon and menace dungeon in the entire game combined. If I'm not mistaken, I've experienced a total of 5 deaths during my entire playthrough up to deciding to try this dungeon. I crashed the Regalia Type-F 3 times trying to land on the runway, bringing that figure up to 8 deaths, pre-Pitios. During this dungeon run I died 73 times. So after completing this dungeon I can say that over the course of my now 141 hours, 17 minutes, and 30 seconds of my current FFXV playthrough thus far, I've died a total of 81 times, and of those 81 deaths 73 of them were during the past 5 hours I just spent in this goddamn dungeon. 75/81 is 0.925(repeating), so 92.5% of the deaths I've experienced over the past 141.2916 hours in this game, 92.5% occurred during past 5 hours. That's absolutely ridiculous lol. To sum up: 141.2916 hours in, and 92.5% of my total 81 deaths have been over the last 5 hours. Of my 81 total deaths, now only 6.2% of them have involved monsters of any kind lmao. That's just silly.

Do you have any good tips for the end of the Wall section? I hate anything involving balancing and I can't seem to get past the part where you walk and jump on those narrow beams to exit the area. I get uncontrollable sweaty palms and fall every time.

The part near the top of the room on the rafters? My first tip is to take it slow. Also, stop any time you need to make a 90 degree turn and point the camera where you are going before moving. Finally, if you need to jump to another thin railing, point down the length of your target so you can afford to overshoot it a little.

You can actually buy those new weapons you got in this dungeon from shop/blacksmith in chapter 14 in Hammerhead (nighttime) right before going to Insomnia

That’s true. I think technically the only unique item in the entire dungeon is the Black Hood, though there are some odd items like the Zu Beak etc. in a well hidden secret area. This dungeon also provides the greatest single source of coins; it’s easy to cap out on those if you’re not careful.

There’s a shortcut you open early in that section that should allow you to circle back around if you fall down. If you feel even before that, you might have to circle back to the door you re-entered the main room from below and redo the segment from scratch.

Quick tip: When you unlock the "Shortcuts" (those faces surrounded in red) you can leave the dungeon and save. That way you can come back to it later. Sure it'll take a full 10-15 min to get back to where you were, but not 2.5 hours lol

Good tip. Another one is that on your way out you can jump into a hazard just before your most recent checkpoint repeatedly and the game will effectively teleport you to the entrance, making the run out take less than a minute from most areas.

Ah, I see. There is a note on a wiki or two about there being a White Sage in there. It's possible I missed it and there is one found somewhere inside, but I was pretty thorough and it's also possible those wiki articles are mistaken. If you do find one let me know!

So does this dungeon eventually give you an accessory to restore your real life sanity? But in all seriousness this the most unfun thing I may have ever done in any game ever (this is probably not entirely true but it definitely is a competitor for the top spot). Very interesting and clever design but incredibly frustrating and unenjoyable and made worse by the lack of concern for the players time. It would be one thing if the player was given some kind of auto save point a couple times throughout the dungeon or a way to teleport to the entrance and back to take a break. This entire dungeon is literal hell and Hiroyuki Nakamura as earned an extra special place on my video game designer shit list. I have never seen something suck all of the fun out of a game I otherwise so thoroughly enjoyed so quickly. (Haven't done the Menace dungeons yet as despite having done all of the dungeons normally, Ezma has nothing useful to say to me still so I can't speak as to how those are.)

I feel like the menace dungeons were a bit less fun for me, but that's probably because they all mostly felt same-y. This one, while definitely frustrating, was unique enough an experience that I grew to like it.

I wonder if they mixed up Pitioss with one of the other endgame dungeons. I have an extremely vague recollection of finding something called “flame gun” at the end of the one near where you have Cor in your party briefly at the beginning of the game.

Hrm, seems like that was Keycatrich’s menace dungeon and the hyper magnum. I can’t check my file at this moment but my suspicion is bad info got passed around until several incorrectly listed those in Pitioss. I could be wrong though…

Made it 50% with no guide. Used another video for the rest of the way 5+ hours of floatly controls. Then I save and shut down my PS4 only to find out the system was corrupted and my save was not synced to the cloud.

The biggest spots to check would be the hidden item cache with the Zu Beak in it in the dark angled area and the two items surrounding the big statue.

@@ElDuende05 I was following a guide in Gamefaqs but then his instructions got really confusing that's why I searched and found your video. He didn't even got those bunch of items you mentioned that were in a clump in the angled area... I might revisit later since from what I gather Pitioss doesn't respawn the blockades and the doors are opened as I left them when I finished last night, well it was night when I started LOL. thanks again for your video! really made the confusing parts easier to navigate.

Everything should be unlocked just as you left it, so a revisit is definitely quicker than the first visit. Incidentally, I have a gamefaqs guide too which is meant as a written companion to the video. You can use the item list there as a checklist by copying it into a text file or something similar.

@@ElDuende05 oh yeah, unfortunately I was using one of the main faqs. didn't notice you have an in depth guide on pitioss. I did just return and the only thing I really was missing was the 5 malboro vines on top off the revolving door, I've already got that bunch of items in the diagonal room because I switched already to your youtube guide on that room so anything onwards that I got.
