FFXV Royal Arm movesets - The Royal Arms of Duscae

Spoilers in the description.
You have been warned.
Here are the locations of all the Royal Arms in the Duscae region:
Blade of the Mystic: The 4th Royal arm you get during the main quest. It's found in the Disc of Cauthess in chapter 4.
Shield of the Just: Found in a tomb above ground in south-western Duscae. No dungeon or anything, go grab it.
Sword of the Tall: The tomb is in south-eastern Duscae, but the sword is not there. A note will be in the tomb saying that it's been taken to Costlemark Tower dungeon. This dungeon is found north-east of the tomb and can only be accessed during the night. The last boss in the dungeon drops the sword.

Asetoni FFXV Hey, since your last video (I really appreciate these, including the standard weapons guides, BTW) I saw another video that claimed the Bow of the Clever got its damage increase through the magic stat. I just checked by swapping out a bunch of magic buffering gear against the same boss, and it seems legit. I checked and the same seems to be true for guns. BTW, this same guy pointed out that using the Bow of the Clever gets insanely power when coupled with Ignis's Overwhelm command. I suggest trying it.

Yea, Bow scales with magic, so does the Scepter. Didn't know about guns though, that's interesting (I wonder if that's true fro cerberus as well). You're right, I probably should have mentioned it in the video... oh well... That Overwhelm combo is so widely known by now that I thought it didn't need to be mentioned. There are a dozen videos out there that showcase and explain it better than I ever could.

found something strange, in more ways than 1, with the blade of the mystic first, I dont know if you noticed that sometimes, mobile enemies run out of the encounter circle and tough you can attack them if count as being outside battle and no music or anything, just the monster roaming around away from you, well one of those times I decided to use Blade of the Mystic to try different things, it was one of those zebra like enemies from the Cleigne region then, the most odd thing happened,after a while of attacking mostly from blindside spot the weapon did an attack ive ever seen before anywhere or since, I dont know what triggered it but it looked beyond strange for many reasons, one being the attack was cinematic like, like when you make a link attack but from the weapon only, it also wasnt tracking properly, I think this is more for the way I was with the thing, but the other attacks where tracking correctly, just this one wasnt, to explain it was attacking the height of the head but from the but, also, the enemie was running but was frozen in place during this thing, other thing that make me thing it was incomplete was that Noctis was making some movements that made nothing, no effect or anything, sort of like when the ghost swords appear, but more like the Armiger way of doing it the attack itself was sort of cool and long, it also mixed a few aerials attacks in there along with a bit of warping, and the few attacks that hit did max damage

I use the buff from Mystic all the time. its really usefull, specially in my lv 1 playthrough.

Im a lttle bit late here, but i wanted to share a cool combo between Blade of the Mystic and regular Greatswords. You can do a quick transition from the buffing animation to the "O-Release-O" move of the greatsword. (The spinning attack). It goes like this. Start with BotM Warp strike to stagger opponent, then do its first attack and release the "O" button. Switch to a GS and hold "O" again. You should do the spinning attack just as the opponent is recovering from the stagger and is attacking you. I found it a nice way to activate the buff in the middle of a "Combo".

Had no idea about the Shield's ability to block unblockable attacks like that, nice find. What makes you think to try that sort of stuff? I wonder if the shield would be a viable defensive tool using a magic build? Using the bow/guns, Wizard Shield, etc and bossting the magic stat. Would get around the hassle of having to swap the shield in and out to get around the strength debuff, but having never tried a magic build I don't know how effective it is.

What makes me try that? Ignorance and blindness. I used to not know about the fact that some Royal Arms gave you buffs, so I had no idea it gave you cover status while blocking. Without that information I was like "Huh, this just eats away my MP and doesn't let me move. There's no way this doesn't do something special. It's a damn Royal Arm and has a unique block stance!" I couldn't think of anything else a unique block could do, so I just looked for the nearest bomb to see if I could tank it... And it's absolutely fantastic for a magic build. On my level 1 playthrough, one of my best setups is Bow, Shield of the Just, Scepter and either a spell or another RA for magic boost. While Bow and Scepter don't have that high base damage, magic stat is much easier to stack than strength (Scepter gives +150 magic and scales with it, circlet is found in Balouve for free and gives +150 as well. Best strength accessories that can be found without massive amounts of hunts/sidequests are +40 strength...). I don't know how well this works with higher levels though...

Asetoni FFXV I'll have to give a magic build a go then. Was going to attempt a level 1 run anyway, mostly as a reason to replay the story with Japanese VA to see how the acting is :P

BTW: I haven't played much with these weapons here, but: will you actually mention attacks like Evasive Attacks? For example, the Katana has a unique attack after evading an enemy attack, where Noctis will attack the enemy with the hilt, not drawing the sword for example! because in this videos you seem to just show the basic Combos (I know that most royal Arms only have those, but it would be nice to mention evade attacks or range attacks as well, as they maybe have special properties (not sure, just a maybe! Just wanted to throw it out there ;))

Yea, I know about the post-phase attacks. There are two reasons why I don't include them in these videos (both of which are bad). I originally left them out when I started making these videos, because evasive attacks/post-phase attacks are a type of combo starter. Combo starters in this game are a mess. Each basic weapon type has like 8 of those and they're completely arbitrary and random while doing practically the same thing, only with different animations. I only ever talked about the warp openers because they were reliable in how they're activated. So I just dumped evasive attacks into the same group with them and just left them out. However, I regret doing that, because in a way they are reliable and unlike most combo starters, they usually have higher than normal multipliers for damage etc. The reason why I haven't included them later is to keep internal consistency in the videos. It would be arbitrary to suddenly start including them. This also opens up the possibility of making a video completely dedicated to them in the future. So yea, all weapons have them, they generally have high damage/stagger/break and/or knockdown as well as unique animations.

Good to know! Would like to have a video dedicated to them at some point! I am happy with your work, You also explained in I believe your first Video why you didn't include them, but I thought because of the Royal Arms being a little bit more special (and already having limited movesets anyway) I thought it might be a nice addition ;) BTW, Random Question, just out of Curiosity: How long does it take you to finish one video? from recording footage, sorting it out, cutting, editing up to the final product? =)

It really depends on the video, this one was a light one with only like 2 hours of recording and another 3 for editing. Usually it's about 8 I think, but if I screw something up like with the Leide video it can be 10+ (It took me 5 hours to get that thing render properly... until I realized I was out of memory *sigh*). On the other end, that "iggy noo"-shitpost was like a one hour job.

From my point of view swords of the wanderer scepter of pious katana of the warrior (sadly has poor combo set) and sword of the father are the best royal arms
