Hey buddy great video, you don't need to worry about your heater as it is running all the time regardless of whether hot or cold is selected inside not like the older cars and the BA and BF are the same as the FG with the bleed hose to the filler tank.

Great video, thanks mate. Will be flushing my fg mk2 on the weekend.

just wondering, how many liters of demineralized water for the first flush? Your dog barked at the same time you said the amount.

Nice video mate, cheers. I did this yesterday before watching the vid and pretty much did the same. Just wondering though, I just got this car and all previous cars I did this on had a noticeable 'hiss' when opening the overflow bottle cap when the car was warm and the system was pressurised. I took the FG for a 40 min warm up lap and opened the cap for a top up and there was no pressurisation at all and no sound when opening it up. Is that what you have experienced as well? Can't see any leaks etc.

I have pressure. If it's not leaking and not running hot, all good.

Hi I have the Fg falcon My overflow tank was really dirty, gave it a clean with the hose and the small rubber hose inside the tank came loose and I can’t recall where it sits in the tank Any idea’s? Thank s

No hose inside the overflow tank. Just the two external hoses.

Random question, when the car is at temp, do you see a very small amount of bubbles in the overflow bottle? Nothing major like what you'd expect from a bad gasket but worried it might be the start of one.

Cant say I do, no bubbles. May be air trapped in the upper radiator hose. Try and squeeze the hose when at operating temp.

Did my FG tonight, NYE yeah I know I don't have a life anyway couple of things I found, firstly if you leave the overflow lid on when taking off your pet cock it only drains slowly and won't make too much of a mess and you can regulate the flow by slowly loosening the overflow lid to stop the water draining too fast. Well it might help. Secondly tried several different methods to clean the overflow bottle, isopropyl alcohol just happened to have 5 litres sitting around because of covid, then dishwasher powder and hot water and finally CLR. They all cleaned to some degree but I found CLR was the best, any advise on cleaning these tanks out would be good not that I should need to do it for another 8 years. Anyway great video mate, thanks for the help.

I just dissolve a dish washing table with hot water and clean with a scrubbing bush from the Reject shop, bends in most of the crevices. CLR should do the trick.

If the plastic is all good, it's just as easy to unbolt the sucker and give it a good gerny blast. If there's alot of old build up hot soapy water and one this dish brushes that are flexible works wonders. Did this on and old Nissan patrol. The old overflow had completely caved in(full replacement of course) , full of leaves and gunk. 5 flushes later and it finnaly started looking normal.
