from what we can learn so far, it seems this Lostbelt history is the result of Merlin going missing or was killed before he could make Artoria King. Thus the Ascension representing Artoria's growth to become King herself without Merlin's guide from a student that could not finish her training due to her Master's passing into a King by herself that will make Merlin proud.

Considering she says "Carnwennan" on her Extra Attacks on her 3rd Ascension, it looks like Caster Artoria seems to be weilding King Arthur's Legendary Dagger Carnwennan (Little White Hilt) that in myth has power over darkness & shadow capable covering the wielder and render them invisible. Huh, I wonder how Type-Moon translated this in Fate lore... From what I've seen in her animations, specifically her Quick one where the daggers fall into a pool of darkness and suddenly come out under the enemy, Fate's Caster Artoria's Carnwennan might have the ability to dive into the Imaginary Number Space like the Shadow Border does. Translating Dagger's legendary power over Shadow & Darkness into the power over the Hollow/Imaginary Space would actually be super fitting, since the dagger in legend was the bane of witches & sorcerers and Nasuverse's Hollow Element/Imaginary Numbers in lore is a power highly effective against Spiritual Beings as well as things made of Ether & Magical Energy.

tamamo is abit easier to use. artoria needs to ult for more dmg supporting buffs. Tamamos np is also unique. i think both work really well, because of tamamos np.

But altria can give 50% NP charge, not to mention a party survivabilty NP that NEGATES invul pierce. The only scenario where tama is more beneficial is on stall teams, and it's a very small margin due to altria's unique invincibilty. Sure altria needs to NP to get her dmg support potential maxed out, but the same goes for tamamo which relies on her NP gimmick for stalling. This artoria is literally what people wanted tamamo to be.

Valens Christian Yosua I'd argue for Tamamo being viable for long boss battles alongside Castoria due to the healing she provides and cool down reduction. Everyone is looking at this from the point of view that Castoria is better than tamamo, why should they use tamamo, but I feel that using them together will be insane, possibly more so than double Castoria (again, for long battles that you can't 3T) because of higher uptime and healing. It's a choice of more versatility by having tamamo or more potency in the effects with a second Castoria. But yeah it seems Imma be rolling for her in 2 years and throwing her with my tamamo and a support Castoria since I'm an arts main XD

So basically, what I get from this, is that Artoria is really strong as a Caster. Since Merlin taught her and all. And her skills reflect that as well. So what I’m concerned about is: what in God’s name are we in store for in Lostbelt 6, if we need someone this strong into our ranks? Also, for those trying to refute that Artoria Caster leaves Tamamo in the dust, don’t even bother. She not only leaves her in the dust, she doesn’t give Tamamo a chance to breathe. When it comes to survivability, Cartoria is top notch. Sure, there’s no healing. But from now on, you will see a Merlin-Cartoria composition a lot more than a Tamamo-Merlin composition. The only weakness I can think of against her is buff removal. What in God’s name was DW thinking, making someone as broken as Cartoria? Not that I’m complaining regardless. I am disappointed that Muramasa was not the 5th anniversary servant though. But I’m sure he’ll be coming eventually. Edit: So I noticed the replies to my post, and I realize that I have to make an in-depth analysis as to why Merlin-Castoria compositions would be used more than Merlin-Tamamo compositions. Allow me to explain: Tamamo’s kit consists of decreasing an enemy’s charge, giving an ally a mana burst for Arts, and a survivability skill in the form of Morph. Her Noble Phantasm allows her to heal her team, increase NP by 20%, and most importantly, decrease the skill cooldowns by 2. Now let’s look at Castoria’s kit: a better version of Merlin’s Dreamlike Charisma, a slightly mild version of Nero Bride’s first skill, and a targetable invincibility buff with a potential 100% increase of damage in the right attack servant’s hands. In addition, her Noble Phantasm allows another 30% damage increase at NP1, removes DEBUFFS and makes you invincible from literally every attack in the GAME. Now, from the looks of their gameplay side by side, Tamamo and Castoria have fair amounts of NP gain. They both have that targetable mana burst Arts buff as well. Now this is where Castoria leaves Tamamo in the dust. In addition to giving the aforementioned buff, Castoria gives 30% NP to the ENITRE TEAM, 50% NP to a single servant, PLUS NP GAIN on top of all that. Not to mention, her NP itself stacks ANOTHER damage boost on a servant. At NP1, that’s already 30%. If you have her at NP5, then it’s 50%. In the right buffed servant’s hands, the servant could have a total of 170% damage increase (20% from charisma, 100% from her Arts skill, and 50% from NP5). But even at NP1, 150% damage increase is no joke. So this is the summary that I’m trying to make: Tamamo’s gameplay circulated around spamming her NP to decrease her cooldowns to use her first skill to decrease enemy NPs, PLUS heal her teammates, PLUS grant 20% NP. And so the cycle continues. Her gameplay focuses on stalling and focusing more on the utility aspect of the servants that she is paired with. While that gameplay is great and all, Castoria beats this playstyle easily. And why is that? The answer is simple: Castoria keeps your team alive WHILE killing the enemy faster with all of her attack buffs. It’s that simple. Why do you need utility, why do you need to stall the enemy, when you have a whoooole bunch of survivability AND damage built into one smol British wizard girl? Hence, this is why Merlin-Castoria compositions are going to be seen more frequently. And yes, Castoria-Tamamo comps are viable as well. In fact, they synergize a lot better together since they both apply Arts buffs. Merlin leans more towards the Buster side of the meta spectrum. But the reason why Merlin-Castoria comps will be preferred, is because Merlin also has damage. His NP not only grants heals and NP gain per turn, but also crit stars. Which loops right back around to having more NP gain. With the constant cycle of using Merlin’s party wide invincibility skill paired with Castoria’s NP invulnerability, you have all the survivability and damage you need to kill your opponent. What better team composition is there? So at the end of the day, if you want more utility and stalling, I suppose you can choose Tamamo-Castoria. But if you really want a good team, choose Castoria-Merlin. You have damage, you have NP loops due to critical stars, you have survivability, hell, Merlin even HEALS. At the end of the day, it’s a matter of which servant’s are available to you. Which servants you have in your Chaldea to make whatever composition works. I don’t even have a Merlin myself. I only have Waver lol Anyways, that’s my explanation of why you should choose Castoria-Merlin comps over Castoria-Tamamo comps when it comes to tough bosses or CQs. Just keep in mind that the only weakness that I can think of that nerfs Castoria hard is skill seal, buff negation, or buff removal. Because Castoria is heavily reliant on her skills to even be relevant. Keep in mind that I’m not saying Castoria destroys Tamamo’s existence. I’m saying that she has a better team composition with Merlin. Or at least, I prefer her with Merlin. Considering that her kit is very similar to his (go figure I wonder why.) Stay safe out there. Well this is pure speculation but she says "land of Avalon" in her Np which for sure means she's taken the role of merlin in this LB6, and therefore its not her "choosing" Avalon over excalibur, sine the original Artoria (saber) received both at the same time she just lost Avalon in a battle, but if this is really intriguing since Artoria in Fate/Zero wanted to erase her mistake and never pull Caliburn, so this might be the result of her or this is what the alternate history (if she didn't become king), but than her 3rd ascension has her return to the kingly position, so I'm mad excited and can't wait!!

@@claudiolancia319 yea sorry I just found out the name of the noble phantasm haha, but I was focused on her voice line during her 3rd np animation saying land of Avalon, while standing on Camelot, the round of Avalon is probably referring to the halo that manifests (in blue) above her allowing to draw or give a different blessing of Avalon to said party member's, which is why she says Land of Avalon? since she thinks herself as the guardian of Britain rather than the guardian of Avalon, her goal may be to have Britain become an Avalon type fish kingdom paradise. @@aratabhist Oh that's so cool!! but than my question is what happened to Rhongomyniad? since we saw it appear in LB5, and if she didn't receive excalibur she never really went down the path of the knight which means she may not have even got the chance to wield the holy lance, other than that it would make sense she did go to the path of the mage if she didn't accept excalibur (well merlin's influence; seen by the staff), and I think I like this Artoria a bit more because unlike her saber version, where her voice sounds more deeper in tone and assertive (of course she needed to make it sound like she was male) in this one she still has the innocence of saber lily, but a little bit more grown. Idk how to explain it but its like this artoria is the artoria that wasn't forced the king's duty and responsibilities imposed on her, rather it's a girl growing and finding her own way of keeping Britain safe, since she I get she is more of a guardian of Britain than a king.

While her third ascension is intended to represent her future around arturias prime as a king. Perhaps that outfit and such is only superimposed on the servant of the apprentice. Not exactly, we still dont know her context at all, but it seem that this is the Lostbelt version of Saber Lily (this Saber is still traveling, the 3rd ascension show how she is supposed to be as the True King). So yeah, she is likely the Lostbelt version of what OG should be if she was stupidly broken af. That "sword" in her 3rd ascension is not even Excalibur anymore, its a legendary sword forged by a unknown fire god (u know, cuz Lostbelts, Olympian gods, etc). So this is basically a Lostbelt Saber Lily that was taught in the way of sorcery and magecraft, but at the end she still became the King
