Also I genuinely don’t think I’m exaggerating in the title, AOE buster sabers are a group of servants with nobody particularly broken imo. Id say salter and ibuki are standouts but yeah they all kinda feel same-ish unless arthur is cutting down super large enemies lol.

@@PlushieMistressI think the main issue is that he lacks things like anti-trait or offensive/defensive utility. So while he may be equal or better than our current AoE Buster Sabers at the moment, the old ones either have things that make them stand out more or can just be expected to have more investment from things like NP lvl. He’s very good but while people may disagree with a “basic” kit being a criticism it’s hard to justify spending quartz for a lot of people, especially with the mass reruns incoming. @@id10terror15 The problem is when people try to turn "we don't want to spend SQ on this servant" into knocking the servant for being bad ala our old friend Rabbit at Gamepress who just measures everything against S!Ibuki and subtracts points if they're not on her level for 3T farming. The last AoE Saber that really moved the bar for the archetype is probably S!Okitan way back at Summer 6 (Takeru's good, but I would still put him below OKitan and Ibuki, and that's not even getting into Salter). NY servants are rarely hard meta releases in spite of the hype surrounding them. There really hasn't been a servant that's a "must summon" for meta since like Zerktoria. Ciel's probably the closest from last year just because of the card locking comp she gives access to.

@@Cav829 I’m not talking must summon though, I’m talking about things that make the servant unique in a way. Richard’s kit is good, but it is very basic with just good numbers and crit ramp. He’s a good generic beat stick. The issue is that with a generic kit like that. It either needs to be blatant better than everyone else or have unique points for a lot of people to care unless Richard is their favorite of course. Mind you, I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing. But it’s the consequence of having very “samey” servants. Also, it’s 2025 wtf cares about Rabbit’s Reviews?

@@id10terror15 I'd like to think nobody cares about Rabbit's reviews except to have a laugh. But he is kind of the face of "I ran the 3T loop numbers and dismissed the servant if they're not S!Ibuki," which it doesn't take scrolling down far in the comments section to see people upset this hot take offers a different opinion from. I agree Richard feels a little basic compared to some of the super creative servants we got last year. It might just be a victim of his class as Takeru wasn't super creative either (the whole "focus one target, splash damage the others" thing tbh was better in theory than practice). S!Okitan is like the queen of being good at just being good at everything basic. That said, I don't think there are more than like 10-12 servants in the game I'd ever tell anyone to pull for gameplay if they're not a fan of the character, and even within that group there are alternatives. Also beyond fans of the character, I think Richard will get over quite well with the CQ crowd. Also he should be one of the better options for Ciel comps (where Arthur is already feasting btw after his buff). But for the farming crowd, sure, you can skip him.

Been looking forward to this hot take since it definitely felt like Richard got the cold shoulder from all the people disappointed with him being the New Year's Servant as well as his skill set looking rather vanilla compared to his modern stacked contemporaries("star gen on a modern Servant is supposed to be good? Absurd.") It's the benefit of using the Servant brfore judging them. People were disliking his low value rainbow buff, but using him shows that he enjoys using all of his cards. Generates good stars, generates good NP charge, crits good, and then crits even better with each NP. It's the mish-mash of internals, skills, and Mighty Chains that let him shine which can be hard to see solely on paper. Downside for him is no survival but also, as mentioned, in order for him to get high value, he wants command card support Servants-who, despite being better and more diverse with time, still do have some hiccups here and there. Finally, this is a nice review in a sense because there is a bit of player bias/preference. Richard is a 5-star with 0 survivability. That can be a deal breaker as outside of Merlin and Constantine, Buster isn't exactly flushed with defensive options. Richard is best used in a hyper-aggressive team aiming to kill before the enemy builds up a NP. Best defense is a good offense. And those types of teams are your preference; henceforth, why you feel he's underrated. Edit: Don't know why I forgot about how almost all of the other AoE 5 Star Buster Sabers don't have hard survivability. Don't make comments in the morning it seems.

Sad when I see Arthur’s NP number against Richard. My husbando got shafted so bad despite his lore. One way to save him now is to have an NP upgrade with NP strength up of 20% for 3 turns. That way, he can somewhat compete with his peer.

I'm kind of miffed that his third skill crit is buster only. I understand why it is, but it's still kind of weird to me because he is splitting himself between wanting to Buster chain and wanting to Mighty chain and you are only getting half his benefits on either option instead

I think he’s just ultimately a flashy beat stick. Which is nice, but there’s a bunch of AOE Buster Sabers with comparable damage with utility, niches and farming flexibility. He’s also Limited so unless you really like him as a character, I don’t really see the point of investing in him over some of the Permanent AOE Buster Sabers like Altera or Mordred who can spook. I think new players would get a lot out of him, but someone who has a relatively stacked roster would likely never touch him. For me I already have Ibuki at a decent NP level so he just seems completely redundant.

How did you get those numbers for looping? I get Richard does less than Artoria both wave 2 and 3 with the same CE and by a notable amount wave 2 (192k turn 2 and 525k turn 3 vs 241k turn 2 and 547k turn 3) Even at NP5 (where the upgraded NP matters least) Artoria still wins turn 2, which you don't show at all. and Mordred does even more damage turn 2 than Artoria. He also has lower self buffed NP damage than any other Buster AoE SSR saber. (which doesn't always translate to looping if you double stack skills well, but plenty of others can stack thier skills just as good like Mordred or Arthur, who )

7:31 Ok, after U-Olga Marie, I feel like D.O.T. dmg should be as stupidly high like her's, so its less of a meme. 10k dmf per turn is nice to see. Then we could have a new meta and new meta supports dedicated entirely towards D.O.T. dmg. Like granting allies devuffed with burn, curse and poison some buffs such as healing equivalent or ggrater than the D.O.T. debuff. Or some damage cut or defence and such. Or even some damage. Maybe in another world, Van Gogh would heal you based on how many curses you have and their value. Imagine a Servant that could turn Cernunos's Curses and Talos's Burns into heals. That would be like a weirld Merlin hehe.

AbbyMas CQ. Damage Increase & Heal Convert Buffs are already present. Passives grant partial / complete immunity. Aside from RockSta (Limited 4☆ Caster), I don't see why such mechanics aren't applied more. Given players have DoT-cheezed certain fights with specific setups. Would add more weight to Debuff Cleanse / Immune too.

Much appreciated 😊👍 Also, if Debuffs being converted into buffs for more future servants isn't what they want, then I at least want to see defensive and utility buffs being converted into damage buffs or vice versa. Kinda like a Kingprotea converting Max HP Growth stacks into damage and defence. That would be great for some niche stall teams if someone wants to ignore the current meta, just for fun. I also want to see a very niche Servant that makes non-stackable defence buffs stackable. Such as Evade and Invincibility (because I doubt they make that as a QoL change because of how strong that would be). This is mainly because of Rider Astolfo. I can't be the only one who always wanted to see him able to do that.

I’m kinda suprised you did not compare to him to Super Orion. Both being buster crit dps, and benefits from card rng supports you mentioned in the video. Albeit they different classes, but I feel as though they have a similar enough niche. If you were to compare the two, is Richard’s critical damage stronger than Super Orion? On par? Or not comparable? Also on time hot take no way. Very informative enjoyed it a lot.

Super Orion will be higher naturally by having EX Independent Action (12% crit dmg up) as a passive.

Richard is more comparable to Achilles post buff or Takasugi, being aoe attackers who primarily use their np to generate stars and buff their crit damage. Super Orion (if he gets the perfect chain) would still blow Richard out of the water at his peaks but Richard should be more consistent in his ramp ups if he can get his np consistently.

I would say his lack of any defensive or offensive cq counters does hurt him a bit, but wow his damage is higher than expected, they really juiced up his self buffs cause i expected that he’d only beat arthur not everyone else in np looping. Though a lack of niche farming wise could honestly come up since arthur has a good niche and mordred has an okay one. But honestly better than i first thought

Rising mud rain boosts NP overcharge. Artoria's overcharge gives additional NP charge. Therefore, she can use her self charge + 1 KoyanL for turn 1. On turn 2 she has 35% gauge refunded, so you can order change the used LKoyan for Oberon and use his S1 and the other LKoyan's battery to get her to full. Then turn 3 just use her battery again and Oberon's 50% charge.

Artoria powercreep is insane.... Artoria can't do anything besides looping but Richard not only beats her at looping while being a insane crit DPS on top of that. I'm coping for a charisma buff even harder now.

Once you start comparing this 4 star to 5 stars at the same np level I can admit salter is not as promising, but thats kind of the whole point.if salter rated up with any of these guys she would serve you better by time you pull the 5 star once in most case, not even talking np2. For single core that is. not a cranking god at similar investment but bad by anymeans. yes I am biased, my no.1 waifu moment/ reason i started this game in the first place. now I go back to cave and wait for quick reloading for my summer okitan. salter being under valued in a comaprison of buster saber aoe even after the buff is sadge moemnt
