It’s funny that you say “just happened to voice”, because it’s actually more likely than you’d think that we’d have more series overlap between character voices. Namely because Douman’s VA is the third most prolific VA in Japan, having voiced over 600 characters. The only other VAs who have done more being Shinichiro Miki and Takehito Koyasu, who are also in Fate already!

I think his insta death is really strong, considering the formula of death chance to trigger = death proc chance (douman's being 144%) * enemy death rate which for most bronzes land around the 100%~80% range , any enemy that has a death rate of 70% or higher is guaranteed to die to his NP. This is highly utilized in 90+ nodes wave one (although i think lasengel tried to stop this by putting high death rate enemies in wave one 90++) and sometimes even in high difficulty runs. I was only able to min turn the cerberus super recollection quest because i rnged death to happen on all wave one enemies (albeit the situation is pretty niche).

Personally, I think Douman shines the most when he's paired with other chaotic evil semi-supports instead of pure attackers or supporters. Someone like Medb can give him another 40% attack up and 30% NP charge, Eresh has Blessing of Kur, Moriarty can make anyone evil and double buff their attack as well, while Abigail can charge over time and stack terror. Drop in Van Gogh and you don't even have to pick facecards anymore, everyone will do silly damage.

best support for double Gogh setups. With him on the team you can fire off 3 NPs on the first turn overcharging Gogh's NPs and guaranty 50 stars for the next round where any Gogh card will melt enemies into oblivion.

"Niche" is absolutely not the word I'd use to describe Douman, unless you mean he's "only" useable against 4/7 classes in the game (and even that is arguable). I didn't really feel anything for him when I rolled him, but he's grown on me very quickly - and not just because it's so fun watching Sei bully him at every opportunity. He's tailormade for the 90+ nodes that require you to have both AoE and ST Servants, as he threads the needle perfectly with his NP and crits. He does a great job even against the knight classes thanks to his IK triggers, which are all but guaranteed against bronze enemies like skeletons. He makes a lot of challenge bosses explode thanks to his buffs (fun fact: a single Douman gives you 1/5 of the crit damage buff cap), to the point not many of them can even hope to survive past turn 3. And even when the boss does survive, his stuns and curses actually work great in longer fights. Honestly, the only reason you wouldn't take Douman in every fight is because Lasagna is desperately trying to balance the game around him, be it the incoming wave of Lancer 90+ nodes or mixing cavalry classes with a single tough knight boss, like the current JP 90+ node. And even then, the second thing I now check for every new servant (after their NP) is their alignment - because you're much less obligated to roll for a Quick servant who's not chaotic evil. Embrace the age of DOMAN, for it is here to stay. Nnnnn.

I've found that he actually works pretty well with Osakabehime, honestly. She buffs party crit, buffs Quick (and Buster), boosts defense for more survivability, the max HP up also increases survivability, and she can remove enemy buffs so if they think they're escaping a good crit turn, they're not. Okki also gets half his buffs, so a good ol' RNG fueled inconveniently timed full Okki hand is still serviceable.

I'm pulling for him so my Jalter and Nyalter would deal even more disgusting damage. Sidenote: I don't understand how you rate servants though. Sakata Kintoki gets an "S" while Douman gets an "A+". Comparing their skills, both have attack up and massive battery but Douman's is better coz those effects are in one skill while Kintoki has it separate. Kintoki's only survivability option is his 3rd skil but it's not even a hard defense. Douman on the other hand has 2 guts tied with a crit buff. And lastly, Douman has atk and def down for all enemies while Kintoki only have a debuff tied to his NP which isn't even guaranteed. Lastly, I did not even mention that Douman's attack up and crit up, although niche, are both party wide. Can't compare their NPs though. So basically, I think Douman should be ranked higher than Kintoki.

I think its more about versatility. Unlike dōman,kintoki can be put in any team and still perform well and he just get better with supports. Dōman on the other hand,is just more niche. He can't fit in as many team as Kintoki on the same level of usefulness.

6:40 small error here. The skill seal can happen multiple times for the 3 turns, only the stun is limited to one time.

How to properly support Van Gogh: Use Merlin and Douman. Merlin provides healing, semi-healing with Max HP increases, an attack buff, an NP Charge, and a Crit buff, as well a Stars. Douman offers his Defense Down, attack buffs, curses, and Crit steroids. Merlin's Buster buff may not be as necessary, but give Gogh's insanity skill, it can be useful. If using Douman as a DPS in longer battles, Skadi and Tamamo work well together, with both Arts and Quick buffs, both offering NP charges, Tamamo with her NP Strength buff, Skadi with her defense debuffs, and evades on her NP, and Tamamo's heals helping Douman survive. As well, Tamamo having a Skill Cool down Reduction on her NP let's her deal with the long cooldowns on both Skadi and Douman.

I will say, as a person who has Douman on JP, his looping is quite restricted due to the fact he doesnt get the best refund on his NP, you can loop with him but you do need a k-scope with np append at the least with 2 caster skadis, he gets around 20% refund iirc which is just enough for him to loop in double skadi teams at np1 (might be different at higher np levels but i do not know) but for me, he usually doesnt get close enough in np charge to refund 50%

Lets not forget the curse here, 7000 from all skills and np might not seem like much and, in truth, it isnt, but his ability go np spam makes it a decently valid second dmg option. 100% curse effectiveness up on np on a servant that can easily np spam is pretty good actually. Sure, you wont see massive numbers unless you build a full team around curse but acting like it doesnt matter isnt exactly right either

I like how you did this review. And I'd agree on all counts because while his hybrid capabilities are truly great, there are multiple better options available and upcoming. Especially considering he isn't the greatest for those annoying 90+ and 90++ farming quests that will be upcoming in future which are also the best farming nodes in most events. A really good pull if you are lacking in the alter ego department or want a strong hybrid but by no means a must pull especially if you have better farmers like spishtar and, like almost everyone, have castoria. Also we get a free alter ego (and avenger) in future who we can easily np5 AND can castoria loop AND has a def down that activates BEFORE his np....soooo....yeah....
