Three years ago, I found a khao manee kitten trying to tear through a trash bag sitting outside my apartment. She was only about 2 months old, she was dirty, and didn't respond to any sound so I took her in, afraid she would get killed if she couldn't hear, cleaned her up and gave her food. I have one. They are not joking about how affectionate they are, she seems to need attention all the time. If you get busy in your day and can't pay much attention, she gets really sad and looks like as if she did something wrong. She hangs her head down and her eye get small. Poor kitty.

Hello, I'm from Thailand and I'm very familiar with Khao Manee cats, I saw a lot of misleading comments and I just want to clarify things. 1. I saw a lot of people having whole white cats are claiming their cats are Khao Manee. No. KM is KM not just because they're whole white. KM is an old natural breed that has its own unique genes. Almost all of whole white cats in western world are of British, Turkish or even Persian breed; or even mixed, nothing at all related to authentic KM. They and KM are visibly different. You can pinpoint if you really know the authentic KM such as in this video I can tell this cat is a KM. Thus, for those who bragged they got KM cat so easily by adopting a white stray cat found on streets in western world, I can only tell that's extremely improbable to really happened. 2. Most people say KM is extremely expensive in Thailand. Not true. Just a few decades ago KM was still almost common cat breed any cat lover is affordable or even free to adopt. Then after foreign cats were excessively imported and cat adoption became a big business, Thai cat breeds were declining because of less benefit. But not yet that KM cats in Thailand become such relics as western pet vendors told you. They just tell tales to exaggerate the cat price. In fact, you can still adopt KM kittens from some Thai friend who have the new born for free or you can buy a KM kitten in Thailand at USD $150-200 rate. 3. Few things I can tell you on how to spot if a whole white cat isn't a KM are:- 3.1) If the coat is thick then it's very probably not a KM, you know KM is a tropical breed, shouldn't have thick coat. KM's single layered coat is short, not so dense and is much more delicate, also is very easy to get stained. You'll often see a KM with not purely whole white coat, blemished here and there especially at tips and underneath of limbs, stomach, and ears while the much more dense coat of white cats of western breeds will look more fluffy and clean all the time like white fur cat dolls. 3.2) Body shape, very slender and relatively elongated in KM, with more slender limbs; More stout and rounder with thicker limbs in western breeds. 3.3) Ratio of eye size compares to head size and face shape: KMs have relatively large marquise shaped slant eyes compares to head size (see in this video) and elongated heart or apple shaped face. Most western cats have oval/round eyes in quite short, round and flat face, you can see in this video Thai cats have more extruding mouth. 3.4) Eye colors: KM's can be of blue or golden (sometimes greenish yellow), both eyes or odd colors of the two -- almost like in western white cats. Difference is in KM, *cats with odd-colored eyes are much more common and very much less related to deaf genes* like in western white cats with odd-colored eyes. I really hope people will be understanding the difference now. Thanks to anyone who have read to this line, cheers.

Any way to share about how male Khao Manees can be territorial? Spraying around the house even though he has been fixed? I may have one, and he is a big boi. 17 lbs. And he loves his affection. If I don’t give it to him, it’s almost like a tantrum and he sprays on the couch. Yes, he is deaf, I have to stomp my feet around him to let him know I am around him. But he certainly can be a handful. I do take him out on walks, he enjoys the outdoors.

The Legend doesn't go like that. It's actually only for the defected eyes that people went digging up for. Khao Manee's defected eyes glow like gems and ancient people of Thailand thought that the cat is making gems out of themselves with their mystical power (instead of the gems coming from rocks) so when they die people would take the eyes of these cats and worship it, taking it everywhere with them as good luck charms in the beliefs that it would make them smarter. tougher, and more powerful. These eyes are referred as "cat-eye diamond"

Awh you're so lucky! is the khao manee really expensive? i have been doing some research on them because i want to be prepared to take care of the precious kitties and get everything that they will need because i want my babies to be well provided for ohh and do the two cats get along? i was told that cats could be very territorial so i don't want my two babies to end up fighting because i love pets any tips will help thank you :3

+Slade Xiong Hi, I just recently adopted my Khao Manee Cotton this week from a local shelter. What luck. I had no idea what his breed was until I started googling his unique features, solidwhite coat, odd eyes and yes: he is deaf. I also adopted my black cat Tabitha from the very same shelter. My suggestion would be to look on line to see if any are adoptable via shelter. My adoption fee was $100, but I understand it can cost anywhere from $600-$800 for a kitten from a breeder. Cotton as the breed: is loving, intelligent, very vocal with a medium athletic build. Tabitha is 5 years old and Cotton is about a year. So, slow supervised introduction with my pets is what i'm doing. I found Jackson Galaxy videos on youtube helpful in the introduction process. I have had to introduce cats in the past, just go slow. They eventually get along. But don't give up on trying to find one through a shelter. They may not be a kitten, but it will be more cost effective and you're saving a pet. Most species evolve to adapt to it environment, a Khao Manee evolve to be more expensive.

So i was chilling like any other day then got a knock at my door and it was my 10 year old niece she explained to me that she had found a kitten by a dumpster and saved it she asked her mom if she could keep it but my sister is allergic to cats so she asked me if i wanted it normally i would have said no thanks but the odd thing was before the knock i was asleep and had a dream that i had a small white cat really weird. The female kitten was weak but im an expert at nursing far gone cats back to health from lots of experience rescuing strays in my youth later i noticed it had different colored eyes after shining a flash light at it while playing. I have read that this cat is expensive as hell especially odd colored eye ones going from 2grand all the way up to asking prices of 40gs its insane i got one of these rare cats free its the first iv ever seen and iv seen lots of cats. Named her crystal!

P.s One way to tell if its a true khao manee is the first year of its life it will have a dark spot on top of its head that will fade on its birthday.

zerocool1ist I found this white cat with green and blue eyes one day in 2007 wondering around wounded from cat fights looking for food so I fed her..across from my apartment there was an old women who passed away around 2006 in her house who owned very rare cats.I was told she was forgotten in the house months prior to being discovered deceased on her bed :(...the house was torn down and rebuilt and all her cats were left homeless to roam the streets.That year in 2007, I have never seen such beautiful adoring tough little cats,I saw all of her cats on the streets in the woods,roads everywhere...she had charteux cats(very muscular and dominant with orange beautiful eyes),diomend eye cats you name it..they were roaming this town making it there new home.I live in the New England area so it gets negative in the winters over here and they would all make it through every deathly blizzard I tried to feed them and look out my window to see if they were there waiting for me..they were:)(toughest animals ever)..Most of those cats are still probably roaming around (i pray)getting older and wiser as these days go by..I took the white cat in with green and blue eyes..it's a girl.her name is hunny/honey she's in my basement sleeping as I type this and I'm hoping she lives and stays healthy forever i do not know her age but i know shes over 10 years old.I hope she's happy with that desicion I made that year because I feel I took her from her family and home but she looked like she needed loves.I tried to take in more of them..some seemed interested but realized they were already home living as freely as they could be.And they were tough badass cats.. everybody knew these cats cause they lived throughout the whole town..literally..id be walking 30-40 minutes away from my house almost outta town and Pow! there goes that tough muscular charteux I fed last night,noticing me for the split seconed as I notice him,as he slowly walks away with the thought of (hey I remember you!I'll see you tonight for my food!)... roaming his beautiful world.To this day I still wonder how that charteux is doing I hope and pray that he is still alive and healthy(I loved him:).Amazing story Id thought I'd share it with you:) Some days I just put myself back in that year,time and moment and relive it over and over again it feels like yesterday all this happened almost makes me cry:') ahhh who am I kidding I am crying:') That was when I was 12.I am 21 now.
