This type of enforcement is needed. Too many speeders passing on the right, following to close and using cell phones. I obey the speed LIMITS and stay in the right lane. Yet people continue to try and intimidate. Shame on them.

Revenue for who? 90% of a citation goes to the state. The amount that goes to an agency is less then 5%. The state uses the money to fund more traffic related operations . With 340k plus crashes in the state and 3.3k of them fatalities, trust me , they’re needed.

The guy with the yellow sunglasses cracks me up saying they are trying to get more money for the city and saying it's kind of excessive. First off, the money from the tickets they write goes to the county they wrote them in. Since FHP is a state agency, the state doesn't get that money so what do they care about getting more money for the county, or city as he claims. Secondly, does he even have a clue as to how many crashes they handle, especially the ones that are speed related, that brought this kid of attention?

if the ticket is issued in a city the city get's if it's in the county then the county get's it

If it's in the city, the city gets a portion of it and the rest goes to the county. If it's issued in an unincorporated area, it goes all to the county. If it's in an incorporated city that contracts law enforcement through the county, the city gets a portion. Either way, the county gets most of it with a great deal going back to operate the courts.

that with all tickets you should see the list of who get what it's not just the county i don't know what speeding ticket's fee's today but when i was a cop in Florida they $ 52.00 plus $ 4.00 for every MPH over but i was fair i gave 20 over on the main road 12 in residential streets

I remember back in the 90's when the fines were unreasonable high and as a result, cops didn't write as many because it was a money maker for everyone with their hands out. It was the Florida PBA that actually reached out to the legislatures to lower the fines to more reasonable levels and they did which goes to show you, with cops, it's not about revenue....well, with the exception of Waldo and Lawtey which have since been disbanded.

A lot of speed traps are set up at the bottom of the bridge, where car pick up speed cause they're going downhill. This is common everywhere.

You can speed, sometimes double digits over the limit, without being reckless. It all depends on the road conditions. Alternatively you can be reckless at 5 mph in a parking lot. I'm not from Florida, but I bet the cops ticket for as little as 5 over with that many cars in a line. It just creates traffic. Not like there are any vulnerable pedestrians on that bridge either.

Skar Slow drivers and Speed kills. I did Law Enforcement for 20 years, and I assure you. I hate slow drivers as much as I hated cars the speed excessively. But I gave cars 20 mph over before I would stop them.

It's not radar, it's called vascar. They use lines painted on the road and time you between the first and second line and they can tell how fast you're going. Look over to your right on the white line the next time you're in a high speed zone for short white lines painted across the edge line.

Yea but then you’d have to make it a felony to tamper with the mechanism that restricts the speed cause everyone would just disable it. Jet skis come from factory limited to 68mph Max (due to coastguard safety regulations) you can buy a $200 little box about the size of three fingers that plugs right into the harness in the engine and disables the speed regulator everyone would just do that unless it was made illegal to do so

I think you should be allowed to drive faster if you're experienced with no crashes on your record. You would have a special sticker on your vehicle so everyone would know you are a safe and highly skilled driver.

I’ve got over 4 million miles on the road and I have never met a highly skilled driver. Everybody screws up eventually and it’s not always their fault but it hurts others and their families. Driving fast is really not worth the lives you are endangering

I had a trooper in a plane with a stopwatch on I4E about 8 years ago by mile marker 44(ish). I had a ‘10 Dodge Charger RT black with spoiler. Passed a vehicle going about 62 mph at around 70 mph in the far left lane. Immediately got pulled over by a trooper stating I was going 89 mph by a trooper in the air. Went to court & the Lt (one in the plane) stated under oath that he timed me for 3.3 seconds & then multiplied that by 3 which came to 89 mph. Judge accepted that & I was found guilty. I can tell you a few more BS speed trap stories.
