Very impressed with the FHP officers. Rather than trying to PIT at nearly 100 MPH which could be dangerous for other people on a busy highway, they attempted to box him in to reduce speeds prior to a PIT. Excellent driving skills by all officers to avoid any damage to their vehicles or other vehicles prior to the final scene. Seeing the views from all the squad cars added to the interest in this video. I don't think I've ever seen a better compilation of a chase sequence (and with good quality cameras to capture the action).

I'm a city Police officer in Georgia and that was amazing. They swarmed this suspect and managed to keep very cool headed during the pursuit. I know from experience that we get very pumped up and this was one of the chases I completely enjoyed. Great job FHP brothers in blue

This is the most well coordinated job the cops has done in a long time. I watched almost all the chases been recorded and let me say “JOB WELL DONE.” Thank you for keeping us safe.

But the one mistake they all made was jumping out of their cars before insuring the driver wasn't armed and ready to shoot, making every one of them easy targets. Once the vehicle is inoperable, the first thing to do is insure that you don't expose yourself to gunfire. Order the driver out with hands up then any passengers after the driver has exited and is laying on the ground with arms and legs spread out and covered by an officer not in the line of fire. Thankfully this mistake didn't cost any of them their lives, but there could be 2 or 3 dead officers on the scene.

One thing I noticed about most FHP Troopers in pursuits is how relaxed they stay under pressure especially communicating on the radio during the chase no screaming very calm and collected they must teach that in the academy with that paramilitary training they do at Pat Thomas.

I was born and raised in Central Florida and I have always had great respect for the Florida highway patrol. They take a lot of pride in their work and in their uniform and how they look. I’ve yet to see an overweight trooper unlike you see at many local PDs. They’re well trained, very courteous and use common sense when dealing with the public.

Not only are you gambling that the potential death toll would be lower if you terminate the pursuit and let a murderer go free (statistically unlikely), but you also send a message to every other would-be murderer that police won't chase you if you drive dangerously, incentivising more people to commit crimes because they know they have a chance to get away. Saving a few lives by terminating, only to have 10 more criminals gain enough confidence to commit various violent crimes is very much the opposite of "balancing".

The cops are beginning to understand that a successful pit maneuver requires multiple hits on the car, and it should be boxed in on all four sides. These guys got it mostly right, but he could still have put it in reverse and taken off again.
