It's implied that she speaks telepathically to Zelda in the final memory after Link collapses to tell her that Link can still be saved, and to Link after he finishes Trial of the Sword to signal that Link has "become one" with the sword and unlocked its true strength. It plays a few notes from Fi's theme each time, and it makes a very similar sound to the sound when Fi is about to pop out in Skyward Sword in both scenes.

Totally agreed. I’ve played like 6 or 7 Zelda Games since 1998, and just recently Skyward Sword (I didn’t think it was a good game for all the bad comments I’ve read), but I gave it a chance. I ended crying like a baby when I finished it. Fi NEVER seemed annoying for me, on the contrary, I felt she was a loving, caring and wise partner. I’m truly thankful for a game like this. It is not in my top 3 of favorite Zelda Games, but it definitely has taken my heart.

@@fallenghouls since you posted this 2 months ago I assume you played the switch port which drastically reduced the times that Fi would want to talk to you about anything and everything and also fixed minor annoyances slowing the movement of the gameplay, although I will admit the amount of “criticism” it revived was a bit overblown and became kind of a meme itself. I love the game, the story and characters are definitely some of the best when it comes to the Zelda series but the Wii motion controls were a bit of a struggle at the time.

Though she was annoying at times, Fi really was a true friend to Link, and it broke me apart when when Link puts the sword back in its place. Still, not three years later, it still breaks me apart. One of the best and most emotional scenes in this game. I'm hoping to get the words "may we meet again in another life" tattooed on me in Hylian one day. And people say he’s emotionless within the games he shows distress when Zelda enters that weird crystal slumber and feels sorrow knowing fi is gone but is still happy knowing she’s fulfilled her purpose and people think that he’s just a blank slate skyward sword link isn’t like the other links he’s a character with a past and a story that touches even the coldest of hearts, this in my opinion is the best link in the entire series because he’s not just a blank slate for you to control he’s a character who shows emotion through every little facial expression and the multiple option answers all of them feel like he’s the one making the decisions not just you, and that my friends is how you make a true character and he shows emotion that is his, completely distant from the players actions, and he’s the first link (time line wise) meaning that fi was right about them meeting again not only is fi with link in this adventure but in every game she’s with you helping you even in her eternal slumber may this story be forever blessed with the purity of the goddess hylia. This seen will forever make me shed tears every time I watch it, it’s truly the best story to ever come out of the franchise hats of to you Nintendo.

I loved both Midna and Fi.... and although Midna had an emotional goodbye, this one is more emotional to me. And I think I understand why. Midna... She stayed with you throughout your entire journey, going from selfish at the start, to selfless. Her attachment with Link grew overtime. When she said goodbye, she shattered the Mirror of Twilight on her own accord, and still lives in the Twilight Realm, just unable to enter the Light World. Fi.... Essentially starting as a glorified robot, players (hopefully) start getting attached to her. The attachment never *seems* to progress, as she never really changes, but this moment... Fi is willingly putting herself in an eternal slumber, and it's only now players realize how attached to her they were getting. The many adventures that they went through with her. All the dungeons, the search for Zelda, all of that was done thanks to Fi's help and companionship. And although most players may not realize it, they slowly get more attached with her as the story goes on. When she says goodbye, she *has* to go into an eternal sleep, and in this eternal sleep, she's essentially dead. Not only that, but she started to feel happiness. She started having feelings, and thanks you for the adventure. To sum it up Midna is still alive, living on in the Twilight Realm, shattering the Mirror of Twilight on her own accord. Fi is essentially dead, in an eternal sleep in the Master Sword, and once a lifeless robot, now starting to have feelings of her own, and she can't even expand on that.

Skyward Sword isn’t my favourite Legend of Zelda, but it is up there, and I think I can say with confidence this moment is the first time a video game has made me cry, and to this day not many games have achieved this. SS is so underrated.

I loved Fi and she’ll always be with me. I know what Nintendo did with this. After SS I felt like the Master Sword recognized me for real when I was able to hold it in each game I replayed after, or even in BOTW. When I heard Fi’s noise I felt so special because I am able to recognize her too.

I always had a theory that during Fi's gratitude, how she appears in front of him is simply Link's hallucination that she's still there. When she disappears, he realizes he was imagining Fi's face, for he actually wanted to see her.

everybody is talking about the breath of the wild Fi and how she was there all along but idk when botw takes place but lets just say its at the end.. Skyward Sword's timeline starts at very beginning hence why the master sword didnt look like it at the beginning. So that means Fi was present through everything like ocarina of time, majora's mask, twilight princess, all that good stuff... it was only at this time that Fi knew that her master was gonna die before Ganon was defeated so she told princess Zelda to save him and yeah yeah you know the story

When Link drew the Goddess Sword from the pedestal in the Statue of Hylia, Fi registered Link as her Master, and nothing more. When Link dropped the True Master Sword into the pedestal in the Temple of Hylia, she de-registered Link, but still said some last words to him, as she saw him as a hero and friend.

There's something so sad and deep about an aritificial grasping at the task of getting in touch with feelings. Even Knowing that they cant feel, you selfishly want to connect with them emotionally, to send them your love and comfort. Yet you end up having to feel for both yourselves.

I find it perplexing Skyward Sword tries to play this up at an emotional moment while at the same time having Fi drone on in such ineffectual tones. It's phony. Now, of all times, after having Fi be a non-entity throughout the entire game, I'm expected to care about this sword's personality and beileve that she felt a bond with Link? The game doesn't even try to be funny about it, which would at least imply that there's a real person underneath the cold exterior that really does understand the human spirit and have all these emotions. She's just this robot who's you're suppose to like as your friend. Zelda, as the reincarnation of Hylia, is technically responsible for creating the sword and imbuing it with some kind of soul or intelligence, but choose to make Fi like this? Is the Master Sword supposed to represent light, hope, will, courage -- anything?...or indifference? The fading consciousness of the Master Sword could have been truly special if it represented some kind of connection the hero had to it that became lost, like a fall from grace. A fall from Skyloft. But instead, the Master Sword actually has more personality and a greater sense of bond to Link as an inanimate object than the spirit that supposedly inhabits it. Fi's character annoys me because in spite of this, I still like her. And I don't even know why, outside of making fun of her.
@Mattyboy-dn4oo
@Mattyboy-dn4oo 3 жыл бұрын
100% agree. I know it’s easy to hate on Fi, but in theory I believe she is a good character. She is a spirit the resides within the main weapon that Link uses throughout every Zelda game. The master sword represents the courage that is within the hero chosen by the gods. It is a symbol of the goddesses divine power and CONNECTION with the hero. There is a lot of character growth and interaction that can be played with this concept. Instead, we don’t see any sign of connection, feeling, or emotion from Fi. With the exception of this, most of Fi’s dialogue is just analytical and cold. At least with Ghirahim, who is technically a spirit within Demise’s sword, he has personality, emotion, and a slight edge that makes him fun and engaging. We just don’t see that same emotion in Fi especially since she has a blank expression for the entire game. This makes this supposedly emotional scene feel confusing and out of place, at least I realized that in HD version. In the Wii version, I was more relieved that Fi was going away because of how insufferable she made the pacing of this game to be. Now, I just wish her character was executed and utilized better than just a standard AI
