Thankyou so much for your kind words :') I feel that too, slow and steady is paying off. Thankyou so much for that reminder. I think it can be so easy to focus on what I still want to achieve and wanting it to be 'perfect' that I forget to see how far I've come, or even just let myself ride those waves of good and less good days! Thankyou

It’s so good to see you are slowly but surely gaining in confidence . I totally understand you’re reasons for finding this increase more difficult but well done you for never giving in and for keep powering through. You have this fi and I’m sure you must feel proud of how far you have come and that you are now able to,go back to university. Is you’re university close by so you can stay at home rather than on campus? I struggled with anorexia through college and was difficult living away from home whilst battling anorexia. I wish you welll and know you will do great either way. I believe you will meet your goal of taking the dogs for you’re 1 hour walk. That’s awesome. A very big well done fi xx

Thank you for sharing about rules!! I also have rules for every. single. thing. in my life and it can be so paralyzing. But you said it so well, not all rules are necessarily bad or need to be changed, they are just the way we navigate the world. But your strategy for "upruling" the eating disorders rules is so helpful!!

This video made MY day!! We are all SO FREAKING PROUD of you Fi!! And yes, the part about the rules that you make to navigate the world around you DOES make sense because many people on the spectrum struggle with ambiguity, or things that are abstract. So making "rules" probably helps things seem more "concrete" for you. If I'm wrong, please tell me. Lol. But that's the way I interpreted it.
@Finding_Fi

Sheena! Thankyou so much for this comment. I’m so glad it made sense, I was worried I didn’t explain it very well. It is just my way of navigating the world, and what you say makes sense too. I struggle with ambiguity, so rules help me to make sense of things. ThankYOU! Xxx

This whole video made me smile so much. So lovely to see you more relaxed, chatty, motivated, funny and EXCITED by food!! Fun food Friday sounds like such a helpful thing to do!!! I love how you felt so proud of yourself for managing this challenge despite the struggles you've had with the latest increases in your meal plan 💪❤️ Glad you managed to figure out what thoughts were making it feel more difficult . Having insight and understanding is a key part of recovery (I think )!! It sounds like you had great reasons for introducing the meal plan changes. Going back to Uni, going on holiday, having longer walks, as you say.... Also why put off recovery? It's a good idea to change the meal plan before going through all of those added external factors. Definitely a good way to reduce overwhelm by everything changing at once. Thank you for answering the questions you did and talking about the ASD rules and how they impact your Ed and how you tackle this by creating a new healthy rule instead 🙌❤️💪🌈 I really hope that you have an amazing holiday. You and your family totally deserve it ❤️ Sooo lovely to see you sharing the pizza and split pot with your dad. That's how life should be. This video has spurred me on so much as was in a bit of a slump but this has cheered me up and reignited that desire to push myself forwards again and not remain stuck. Thanks Fi, we will get there 💪💪💪🌈🌈🌈❤️❤️❤️💜💜💜 keep going, keep breaking the rules and keep smiling 😊x

Hello my love! Aww I always love your comments :') You're so right, I do feel a shift in attitude in how I approach food and food challenges! Insight doesn't cure anything, but it does give you the understanding to be able to try to change how you react to things. Those were my thoughts exactly... why postpone recovery? Why put off the inevitable? Thankyou so much for being so kind and supportive, as ever. It really does mean so much to me xxxxxxxxx

Thank you for giving us a small insight into what Autism is like for you. I can understand the bit about the calorie rule, because I had/still have rules myself but saying you create opposite rules is actually helpful to me and I'm going to try it for myself. Also grateful you mentioned the fact your body temperature is now running alot higher all of the time. I've recently developed this issue (got a fan on now!) But I've only read about night sweats inregards to temp increase due to your metabolism in ED recovery. I actually thought I might be ill or maybe my hormones were kicking back in, didnt cross my mind it could be due to my body functioning better. I dont know about others but my temp used to run so low, I'd get readings as low as 32.4 (on 3 different thermometers) these temps used to make me feel so ill.
@Finding_Fi
@Finding_Fi 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Paula! It can be so tricky (calorie rules), but I think I have found that way to challenge it. It seems to work too! Argh it can be so tricky when your body temp soars! Especially when used to being cold. I know it'll settle in time though. Also, going into winter I hope will help! Gosh 32.4 is low! I hope you have a big blanket when it is that low! So good to see you looking and sounding so bubbly and full of life! Forgive me if this is triggering in any way (I'm not experienced in autism or EDs so find it hard to know) but I wonder if you would care to comment a bit more about how some of the changes you're experiencing that are objectively good - e.g. Your hair growing back so well - make you feel. Do they worry you at all or add to noise in your head, or are you instead able to just see them positively? Thank you as always for your insights

Thankyou so much Noemi. That is a good question, still something I am trying to work out. I always think if a rule doesn't really have a motivation behind it (i.e. I just always do it that way), it is the autism. If I'm doing something because of something, usually to relieve anxiety, it is more related to compulsions or the ED. I hope this helps lovely! Thankyou for being so kind

@@Finding_Fi Also, I meant to comment that you are doing so so so great!! So many new changes and challenges and I feel you girl. I recently made some last week (even though I was soooooo scared. Like so so scared) and I just forced them. A few tears and anger and feeling like it's not fair, etc. (I just want to feel strong again, but doing the work to get there is uhhh, both physically but also mentally of course when the ed thoughts pop up. So while yes I DO want changes, change also scares the crap outta me! So it's like a mix. lol). So with some of the changes I made last week, I am like WOW Fi is doing amazing! She is so strong. And I myself am going about recovery alone this time...no more my parents doing FBT (we tried... did it for years actually. And 2 years ago my parents went FULL FORCE. They were so so motivated to get me FULLY well once and for all. They did EVERYTHING, from implementing so many rules, 'life stops until you eat', no missing any meals or snacks, all foods must be eaten, no talk about food, no wifi, no food shows or magazines, strict daily routine for meals and snacks like in hospital, no questions about what is in the meal or food, not allowed in the kitchen EVER (we even stopped eating at our table... We moved to in the family room and watched shows lol). If they didn't see me eat something then it was as if I didn't eat it and would have to eat it again, ex. couldn't have my snack out with friends. Of course I COULD have something out with friends, but it would be on top of my original meal or snack and wouldn't replace anything else I would have that day. But so much happened during that time and things got bad relationship wise and well... it didn't turn out. Even though my parents said they were not going to stop until I was well again, they were so so strong about this. It made me so mad. But now it's me. On my own. Of course my parents are somewhat there (my dad more than my mom, which is strange. But she is the one that had to let go as it was too much for her) for support and help if I go to them. I know what they were doing to get me well, aka all the things they added to my meals and snacks to make them calorie dense, so I have all the knowledge. I just have to do it myself... Which is both freeing, what I finally wanted. But scary, because I have to push myself. (Which I do! and it does surprise me haha). Anyways!! All that to say, you are a true fighter!! Keep going because the future you want is coming. xx Also, is your full name Fiona or something similar? Or is Fi just a fun nickname or your full name? Sorry I am sort of new here lol.

@@Finding_Fi Oh and I LOVE the saying 'if not now when?' Like its so so true!!! We can keep waiting and planning out the perfect time and all. But why? Why not just do things NOW. We have this one life to live. Life doesn't stop for us. Today will go by. So while yes life isn't a race, it's also not something that will wait. So let's DO life now! Let's get over our fears so we can fully live now! What will really be different in 20 years? If anything it will just be even harder to challenge the food or behavior. So like my dad keeps saying 'Just do it!'. Like it's a job. It basically is. A daily job. Let's get well, strong and free again! no more waiting or putting it off. If you want something now, ALLOW yourself to eat it. There is no such things as too much food. Impossible! ALL food is allowed and in any amount! (Ofc I mean having ENOUGH too haha).

@@eb9436 Hey lovely, I'm so glad to hear you're managing those changes. I know it can be scary but it'll be worth it long term! I'm glad that style of FBT worked for you! We tried it, it was a disaster for us. I disagree with a lot of it, especially the life stops til you eat, because it just doesn't. It caused far too much friction and was awful on our relationship. But we've found a new way of working together now, we are still doing FBT but with a different style (I forget the acronym for it... something like SS something something something :D). It's not easy doing it by yourself, but also an important step. I think the most important thing about that step is learning you can still ask for and get support when you need it! I'm really glad to hear you're finding a way forward though, it'll always be different for everyone! Haha yeah my full name is Fiona! :) xxx

Hello Fi! You may remember me from past comments. I have a sister that has been newly diagnosed with high-functioning autism. (No worries if you don’t remember though. You have lots of fans! 😉) I have a question about your autism. For a reason we’re not yet sure about, my little sister who is 11 tends to have meltdowns, not only when we do something that trigger her, but also when she is bored and/or when we are just sitting in a room being quiet. She seems to have to be constantly entertained and once one thing finishes, we have to quickly get her occupied with something else. But if we wait too long, when we do suggest she do something else, she refuses and just sits there doing nothing, getting more and more into a meltdown until we do one little thing and then she flips into a meltdown. An example would be after lunch when we’re done eating but still sitting at the table. If we don’t jump to the next thing immediately, she gets into the state of a meltdown and refuses anything we suggest that she do and then she sits there doing nothing and spirals into a meltdown. It just has me very confused because I’ve heard of people with autism getting overwhelmed by noise or things happening, but I’ve never heard anything about people melting down when they’re bored or when it’s quiet. Does that happen to you? Do you know why being quiet and doing nothing triggers her so much? Is it the transition from eating lunch to doing something else? Or something completely different? Should we try to occupy her or will that overwhelm her causing a meltdown? Should we just stay quiet? Answer whenever you get the chance, or don’t answer at all if you don’t want to. I know autism is quite versatile and this may be hard for you to answer. Or even wait to answer this question in your separate video about autism. Either way is totally ok. But if you are able to answer, I would be extremely grateful. My sister‘s meltdowns really scare me and I just want to be able to understand her and to be able to do things that will help her maybe not feel so overwhelmed and meltdown. Amazing job today! Fun Food Friday it’s an absolutely wonderful idea! I’m so excited to see what else you challenge on upcoming Fridays. And though I do not completely understand, since I am not autistic, all the rules and routines you have and have to challenge just in case it might be part of the eating disorder, I do understand from the point of view of a person who experiences it in another person. My sister has a lot of rules that seem so small to me, though she doesn’t have an eating disorder, but I need to remember that that is just how she is. It’s autism and those rules and routines keep her from feeling overwhelmed. So thank you for explaining that and helping me see the point of view from her. I will try to work with her with her routines instead of being annoyed with them. If you say is true, if you are really making meal increases and challenging yourself, i’m so proud of you! I completely agree with you about not waiting until you have to make a meal increase. Why do it later when you can do it now! Later and now could be a difference between getting better quicker or drawing it out longer. and we all want you to get better as quick as possible! No one said this would be an easy road, but the thing that matters is what you’re doing right now. And increasing is the right thing to do right now even though it may be hard. I know it’s easier said than done, so cry as much as you want! Let it out! Butt from experience, because I am recovering from anorexia right now too, things will get better. And the harder it is, the more you know that this is the right thing to do. The first time is always the hardest. Even the second third and fourth time! But the more you challenge it, the easier it will get and the closer you are to having full food freedom. Reminder: You are Worthy. You are Beautiful. You are Loved! 💗

Hello lovely Nora! I do indeed remember you my love! I hope things have been as okay as possible. It can be tricky to know, as I'm sure you know, everyone with autism will experience it differently. It could be due to the change in activity, or perhaps something that is visually not obvious is causing the distress? Possibly 'typical' things like changes in mood, which can be more difficult to manage, or maybe she finds certain times of the day more chalelnging? I'm sorry I don't have the answer. I don't know her so I couldn't say, nor do I know your relationship, but maybe if you feel able to ask her, that might help? Thankyou so much my love. Those were exactly my thoughts. There is no point dragging this out, I know where I want to be and what I want my life to look like... so it's time to make it happen! Not easy in the short term, but an innvestment in long-term Fi! Thankyou for being so kind, as ever! xxx

@@Finding_Fi Thank you so much for answering! I really really appreciate the time you took to think about my question and for answering the best you can. Your answer is perfect!
