That fella is a keeper, those sisters, while grieving, had no damn excuse, and the dad needs to stop excusing their bullshit.

Apparently, though, it's not about grieving. The 24 yr old is into OP's fiancee. That's why they hated her.

@@c.a.2945 what are you even saying? I'm not even saying that it's an excuse cuz her harassing a woman because she's interested in her dead sister's husband is so much worse. Refreshing to see the OP's fiancé actually turn out to be sane. You can tell reddit was pushing for her to dump him and calling her a doormat because he didn't immediately blow up. Seeing someone you thought you knew well just turn on a dime and be utterly vindictive can be shocking, and it's totally understandable to just be stunned in the moment. He did the right thing once he processed it though.

True. Because of their strong ties to his LW, their betrayal could also be felt like a betrayal to his memories of LW as well. So I do admire how quickly he was able to gather himself.

"So she won't come and see us?" ignoring the harassment and the damage done to the vehicle I see. They never got over the death of their sister, and I don't think they ever will. What caused them to even attempt to get to know her is finding out how badly they fucked up. Good on the fiance for getting his head on straight with his Late Wife's family. Yes they are close, and lost someone close to them, but such a violent reaction is not cool.

Also ignoring the fact that she ALREADY DID come to see them, even willing to drop the charges, yet they threw it in her face at the time. Only when the amount of money and the threat of jailtime came did they change their tune.

Those sisters gave majpr issues, my cousin sadly died of cancer when she was in her mid 30s and left behind 3 young kids and a hisband, the family have kept in touch with her husband and were very encouraging when he started dating again and really like his new partner. Yes they are still grieving (it has been nearly 20 years now but the pain still exists but they know that my cousin wouldnt want him to stay alone for the rest of his life xos age loved him and so would wish him to be happy.

@@BrownLove7562 exactly, I could sort of understand the younger sister being upset (although not to this degree) but the middle sister was getting on him, it's like she had in her head he can't move on with anyone else unless it's me and that's some weird shit to me, tbh I could never ever see any of my mates ex's being in a relationship with me let alone any of my sisters, if they cared about him even a tiny tiny bit then they would want him happy

The fiance is surprised that the meet up didn't go well? After they trashed OPs car? But he's, in OPs words, calculating? Dude has no spine
@josephskelatin39433 ай бұрын
Why is everyone on the internet so cynical and pessimistic? You can't just accept that he'd assume the best from 2 girls he's known for years even after they mess up, no, he just has to be "spineless". He handled it better than 90% of people ever would.
@JBTFan1243 ай бұрын
@josephskelatin3943 "Even after they mess up". You mean commit crimes? Go grow a spine as well.
@JBTFan1243 ай бұрын
@josephskelatin3943 Assume the best? He hid his engagement because he knew this would happen. He knew his old spouse's family were 100% not cool with this. He didn't defend his fiancee after his old spouse's family vandalized her property. Couldn't stand up to them when they were insulting his fiancee to her face and cried instead, forcing the fiancee to drag him out. If this is handling things well, I'd love to see how you handle things. If there are two parties you love, but one party is acting psychotic, and emotionally, financially, and legally harming the other, you are a spineless whimp not standing up for the clearly wronged party. You'd rather be a yes man and have everyone like you than standing up for what's right
@josephskelatin39433 ай бұрын
@@JBTFan124 He'd be spineless if he let it continue on and on and on. He hid the engagement because he knew they wouldn’t be cool be with it, but how can he assume they'd start vandalising property or making threats? They hadn't done anything like that before, so how can he just assume they would now? He likely assumed they'd be irritable or petty, not downright criminally insane. He's known them a long time, it only makes sense he'd give them the benefit of the doubt. That's not a fault within him, most people would do the same. Once he acknowledged how bad it was he immediately went on to put a stop to it. He tried to be civil and tried to appeal to their rationale, and once he realised they had none, he escalated. I promise you this is one of the most normal and realistic responses to a situation you'll ever see on reddit stories like this. What would you do in his situation? You need to remember that in real life, there are other things to take into consideration, not everything is one-dimentional and most people don't drop their affection for people they've known a long time at the slightest provocation, no matter how looney it seems.
@JBTFan1243 ай бұрын
@josephskelatin3943 After they vandalized her car, that should of been it. Going there to try and reason with them, then crying as they insulted his fiancee to her face is spineless. What would I have done? If anyone from my family, who I love dearly, vandalized my wife's car and wrote "Whore" on it in paint, I'd call the cops immediately, I'd message them and tell them they were cutoff effective immediately until they remedied the situation. Any meet ups with them would be at my house, and the second they said 1 word of insult to my wife, they would have a police escort out the door. The idea of sitting there crying while people called my wife the things they called OP is insane.
