Wow, this is one of the better auto repair videos I've seen. Well shot with seamless editing. Lots of good tips for the beginner, and you didn't gloss over any steps. I feel lucky that the Fiat Spider community provides such consistently good information. Keep it up, this stuff definitely isn't going unnoticed. Videos like this help to keep these beautiful cars on the road!

Thanks! If you are restoring a 78, definitely check out the ELDEST Builds channel about his restorations. (171 video playlist!!) Also, FCA Heritage channel does a 1970 124 Spider Restoration that is excellent. (I wish my 1970 looked like that!!)

Glad to see someone in this community (new one for me) take the time to do a video like this. What a great resource to see exactly what to do with this specific car and project.

Yet again, you amaze me. A (faux) persian rug!

That concrete floor gets pretty chilled! The rug is actually made of recycled plastic soda bottles (or so the tag claims) and the pattern hides the stains & dirt remarkably well.

I honestly don't know. It has been so many years since I had an X1/9 that I don't recall. It should be very similar, I know the brakes use about the same parts as the 124, but the X is based on the 128, which was a different setup for many things. I had four X1/9s over the years and my 74 & 80 are two of the few cars I wish I had never let go.

Hi. I was wondering do you have part number of measurements for hub seal? I'm planing to rebuild Fiat 125 hubs and they should be the same as Spiders. Thanks
@FlashDriveFilms
@FlashDriveFilms 6 жыл бұрын
Hi! Just saw your question. The seals I used are about 56mm outside and , I'm guessing, 35mm inside diameter. I bought them from a company International Autoparts in the USA. It looks like they have been taken over by another company since then that lists the seals here: autoricambi.us/collections/gasket-seals/products/front-wheel-bearing-seal .They do seem to be a fairly standard type seal, so there may be more than one manufacturer or vendor.Hope that helps. Alden

Thanks for info. Well I'm based in Europe, so I will find something here. Regarding seal measurements they should be 45x59x10 OEM number 4117608, Corteco analog is 12011508B. When it comes to bearings codes for Coram CR014 and CR013, Breda/Lorett - C065 and C064, Timken LM-67048/LM67010 and LM11949/LM11910, SKF: KLM-67048/KLM67010 and KLM11949/KLM11910 also it can be found as LM67048/0/0/Q and LM11949/910/Q.

Excellent research! It made me dig out the data I had (remember it was 7+years ago!) I have one inner bearing from a company "BRC" from Italy and the part number was CR020 along with the number 4009067-FAG 639154 which may be a cross-reference number.The outer is a SKF bearing that looks to be labeled simply BR2. But both of these are from so long ago that the part numbers may have been superseded by now.The grease seal itself is just in a clear plastic bag with no indication of size or manufacturer. Alden

Sure numbers might change through the time. I will confirm all info as soon I get my hands on. All I know that Fiat 125/132, Argenta, as used by Abarth on Fiat 124 CSA, Seat 124 2000, Pinninfarina 124 1985.5, 124 Volumex shares the same hub, so bearings and seals should be same.
@VideoSpectrum1

Wll now I can confirm that all codes are right, and if someone ever needs dimensions of those bearings they are here: 31 750x 59 131 x 15 875 and 19.0 x 45.2 x 15.4. Seal dimentions are: 45x 59.13x 10 and Corteco code is 12011508B. I hope this will help the others in case someone wants to buy high quality bearings and seals separate instead some unknown cheep set.

Really appreciate your videos. Any chance you want to tackle how to adjust the valves? (pleasesayyespleasesayyes)

Daniel Cheetham The thing with the valves is to REALLY take your time and not try to rush it. Also, DEAD cold engine, like leave it overnight before adjusting.Don't turn the engine backwards, only forwards, and only by hand/wrench. Blipping the starter is going to jump it past where you want it almost every time. When you are done, before you start it, before you put the covers back on, turn it all the way around a couple times to make sure the shims seat and aren't going to jump out of the buckets. They can jam the camshaft & break the timing belt. But the task is definitely worth it. Best luck to you on it Alden
