Thanks for publishing - I am also about to put in swivels in my motorhome - it will make so much extra room inside by getting rid of the rear facing seats and giving me an enormous table. Just the job for those who live in a van!

If I did this mod and found out either seat didn’t turn due to additional furniture would I be stuck with the swivels due to the cutting of front retainers ?

Hi Martin, Interesting question to which I don't have an answer. I did this video 13 years ago and no longer have the motorhome, so can't check it out and give you an answer. From memory there was nothing on our van to stop the passenger seat revolving, but there was a tall cupboard just behind the driver's seat and this only allowed the seat to swivel about 120 degrees before the seat came up against the furniture. So, we ended up using the passenger swivel a lot, but not the driver's side. I didn't try to take the swivel out, just left it in the locked forward position. So, I guess what I'm saying is that if you install a swivel and can't get the turn you want you can leave it in place, where it would just slide back and forth as previously.

Sorry, but that I can't tell you. The video was made 14 years ago. The van went 10 years ago, and I have no recollection of which seats.

Thanks for the vid. The swivel mechanism is off centre on the base, I notice you have it to the back in yours, was their a reason for that? Could it be fitted the other way around so when the seat is swivelled it's not so far back?

Hi Ed, the van went a number of years ago, so I can't check, but as far as I remember, there was only one way for it to fit.

Geoff, it's a long time since I fitted the seat, the van is long gone, and I can't remember the bolt length. What I did was buy a fixings pack with the swivels which had all the right nuts and bolts present.

Great video John! Especially for me because my motorhome is exactly the same (I guess) - A Lunar Newstar 58. I've often wondered about fitting a swivel seat but not sure how much use it would get in that particular model, so my question for you is - did you use the swivel feature of the seat much after you had fitted it? ie was it worth fitting?

I put a swivel on both sides, but found the driver's seat swivel a waste of time as the toilet hindered it's rotation and use. The passenger seat swivel was useful. Ours had the rear lounge which made up into a bed at night. When this was up it was very handy to have another seat available, especially if one of us was up and awake before the other.

Thanks John. Yes, good point about the bed being up. Would the driver's one swivel at all? ie just to face away from the steering wheel towards the other seat?

Driver's seat swivelled about 3/4 of the way round. It was useable but we hardly ever used it.

Thanks! I think I'll buy one and maybe try it on driver's side first before buying another one. I was wondering if the seats could somehow be padlocked in the swivel position as a theft deterent! Cheers
