Absolutely Agree. A masterpiece of design. Shorter than a ford focus, huge space, 6 full seats. We had 2, brilliant family car. The designers even left a big flat space underneath as they thought hydrogen fuel cells were going to be the way forward I believe.

And terrible aerodinamics. Not to mention the inefficiencies caused since this cars wasn't designed to be an EV from the ground up. And retrofitting is not a good solution. Rather take what you like about this car, and try to implement it in a whole new car design. If you want a lot of space in the car, take a look at the Tesla model X and upcoming Y. And unfortunately, looks do matter if you wanna sell and EV to today's customers who never owned one. And that's why a elegant and modern design is beneficial.

Also the classic Citroen DS was sold as a 3 front seats car. Today also the Toyota Pro ACE (and two other incarnations of the same car sold by Renault and Citroen) has the 3 front seats option... but it really is more a commercial van turned into a car than a normal car

@A real bisexual petrol-head most? Context? Because I've never seen a car with turn signals integrated into the side mirrors in person. Perhaps that's a quirk of where I live, since the rules vary in different countries, but... Yeah. Never seen it. (For a random example of law differences, in the US, rear turn signals can apparently be red, and can even be the same thing as the brake lights. In Australia, the turn signals MUST be amber, and be their own distinct light separate from any other light. Specifications for many other things no doubt also vary...)

Unfortunately conformism brings people to repeat a simple judgment (Multipla is simply ugly) without understanding the potential of a project like this for the whole car culture. Now that car producers are fewer every day, every car is quite similar, except some strange product that are not so realistic as Multipla (Kia Soul, Nissan Juke...), and finding indipendent design is more and more harder.

A car that has always looked really odd with its design to me is the Renault Laguna 3 Sedan which was produced from 2007 - 2015. I feel like the lights of this car are oddly placed and something else feels a bit off, which i cannot quite put into words. Would be interesting to see your take on this.

bah... they changed only lights position, not such a great effort. By the way I can ensure you it had great handling: low center of gravity (roof was high but you know: just empty space inside, while the body floor was down there near to the ground), large track width and about the inside space/room it had few competitors at that price. I'm among the first ones in mocking that car but seriously I must admit it's a typical case in which forms follow functions. Very good family car at a cheap price, or fine as a company car/working vehicle, better as a taxi.

@@opayke980 Sure, but the Honda is a bigger car. The Multipla is only 4 Meter and was designed for tight and crowded cities with limited parking space. Anyone can spend a lot of space in big cars. But enough space in small cars is much more difficult.

@@68whiskey40 i know. Thats why im so hard on this. I just cant accept such a big chance. Petrol smell, tinkering with car at street or garage, drive it down the road on city at night.... I just dont want this to end. I know progress cant be stop. Im just a little sensitive if it comes to this. Street car stuff is just my whole life, thats all. Most of my life was spend with my sierra. I was working on it so hard. Had a lot of both troubles and fun with it. When my mom beaten me and threw me off house to have time with another "friend" my friends and street culture was here, accepted me in. Now, when all limits like emision, etc. Getting more and more srtrict, im afraid i must prepare myself for our last ride. Even when im all adult grown man, it makes my eyes all wet to think about it. I worked so hard on that baby of mine.... Its like my child for me.

Exactly this. I'd suggest this is more of what was indicative of the early 2000s (Multipla was very late 90s). 80s and 90s were responsible for some of the most awesome car designs the world has seen. Unrivaled budgets, many car companies given free reign in what to do (especially in terms of Japanese manufacturers) without this we wouldn't have had cars like the RX7 FD, Supra MK4, 300zx etc and for rest-of-world we couldn't have seen cars like the Dodge Viper, Ferrari 348/355, the list goes on. The 80s and 90s were some of the most poignant years after the 50s and 60s.

Have you ever tried to drive Multipla? It is fantastic in any way and much better than most of the vehicles on the market. Driving experience is amazing,it's very easy to drive,to park,it's very practical ....

Excellent! my wife has a second gen Multipla (the one that has a regular "van-looking" front) and loves because it is the most practical car ever made: very short (it is one feet shorter than my Nissan 350z, which is a two seater) , very wide, six seats, rear seats can be easily taked away actually turning it in a van)... and mine is the CNG powered version. Actually I am very concerned because I can't find any car still in production that matches these features. I really wish someone at FCA sees your design and puts it in production as an electric car

Leaving apart the front headlamp design I found it really interesting. May be a straight beam like light would add to its character. I used to like this car somehow for its iconic shape and airy cabin space. In Milan they used this as Taxi and it was superb for that purpose.
