Here's a simplified overview of the steps involved in replacing a timing belt on a #Fiat #Panda:
Tools and Materials You'll Need:
New timing belt
Tensioner pulley

Procedure:
Safety First: Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface with the parking brake engaged. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent any electrical accidents.
Raise the Vehicle: If necessary, lift the front of the vehicle using a jack and secure it on jack stands. Ensure it's safely elevated.
Remove the Accessory Belts: Remove any accessory belts in the way, such as the alternator or power steering belts.
Remove the Timing Belt Cover: Use the appropriate tools to remove the timing belt cover. This will provide access to the timing belt and its components.
Tensioner and Idler Removal: Loosen the tensioner and idler pulleys, and remove the old timing belt. Note the belt's routing for later reference.
Inspect Components: Inspect the tensioner, idler, and water pump. It's advisable to replace these components along with the timing belt, as they often wear out simultaneously.
Install New Components: If replacing any components, install the new tensioner, idler pulleys, and water pump.
Install the New Timing Belt: Carefully thread the new timing belt into place following the manufacturer's recommended routing pattern. Ensure it's properly aligned with the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets.
Tension Adjustment: Adjust the tensioner according to the manufacturer's specifications using a torque wrench.
Rotate Engine: Slowly rotate the engine by hand (using a socket on the crankshaft pulley) several times to ensure the timing belt is correctly aligned and properly tensioned.
Reassemble: Reassemble the timing belt cover, accessory belts, and any other components you removed.
Lower Vehicle: If you raised the vehicle, carefully lower it from the jack stands.
Reconnect Battery: Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
Start the Engine: Start the engine and check for any unusual noises or vibrations. If everything is functioning correctly, you've successfully replaced the timing belt.

Nice! I can see you had cam n crank locked....but this one has vvt...so can the variator (or whatever) rotate while doing the job? Thanks!

hi, what i was getting at, is that even with crank n cam locked, surely the variator' can still rotate on the front of the cam?....so shouldn't that big torx bolt in the centre be slackened during the tensioning procedure. (just asking to help people) thanks.@@g_a_bofficial

@@MrJimmyn82 If I remember correctly the variator pulley can move but is has internal springs that keep it positioned on one end of its movement range. How I did my timing belt was to mark the belt and pulley on the camshaft and crankshaft, remove belt and count the teeth between the marks on the old belt - then transfer these marks onto the new belt being careful to count the teeth between the marks you made on the new belt. Then fit the new belt making sure the marks line up between belt and pulleys. as long as you have the same tooth count between the pulley marks you can't go wrong. I didn't need to loosen the camshaft pulley bolt, and never got the check engine light on the dash. Engine still running well two years after belt replacement. I hope this helps 👍

i understand the directional arrows are only valid if u r using the 'line up the belt markings' method....so no belt performance issues if arrows reversed.
