FIAT Panda gear shift lever replacement / fix ( gear change grate into 5th solved as well !)

If you intend to change your gear knob - the FIAT Panda's is friction / glued in place - so decisive you will need to be !
Personally, I think the design is poor - so changing has inherent risks - so possibly leave as is ?
Ours had not been changed, but the lift gator glued up, so changing to 5th grated reverse as you could not avoid going past the 5th gate (if that makes sense)
So we have taken it to bits, removed glue and general detritus - lubed the linkage and treated Paddy to a new leather gator from www.lartepelle... (and a new leather steering wheel cover to be fitted very soon)

I know you have both versions of panda. I don’t suppose you know how the gear knob comes off on the 319?

The honest answer is no idea :( not done it on the newer one - I suspect its the same as the older version as I cannot see any screws holding it (best check yourself) - I found this www.scegliauto.com/en/domanderisposte/21460/#google_vignette if any use - if you get it off, let us know - best of luck (don't punch yourself in the face, I did once taking a steering wheel off 🤣)

Ours came off during an enthusiastic gear change :) ours was glued on, 99% sure thats how it is from factory (this was a while ago) sure we showed gluing it back on ?

They are put on, I believe for the liftime of the car - think ours had been tampered with before we bought it - best of luck

I want to replace my boring grey Panda Knob with a big chrome ball. I think the original knob is fixed for life, so they have to be cut off is a very destructive manner. Just be careful not to mess up the reverse gear selector collar in the process.

Is the knob not supposed to be held with a retaining clip? My gear knob comes off and presumed it was missing a clip. If not I'll glue it like you did

They are glued from the factory - its a bugger to get off - we used araldite - best of luck !

Dont glue on the gear knob - it isn't meant to be glued . It is an friction or interfearance fit. Otherwise how is it to be removed in future. Break it off?

The knob will show a hair crack and is getting off the stick easily. Time to replace. Or glue the mf if the fiat is in the winter of his life and your out of money and out of respect for it.

We cut so much from this - the key point was knob gags - first to 5 - obviously I won 5-0 - but we did look like a right couple of twats, more than normal I hear you ask😂
