Wonderful car! This X-19 IS like a Baby Ferrari! The owner knows how to drive, and how to handle a clutch. He must have had perfect practice in operating a clutch, because not many people can be as smooth and exacting. It as much of a joy watching the owner drive as it is watching this car's performance. Thank you from the USA.

200hp and better tires are the two things x1/9s always needed. With those changes, the X1/9 could perform as well, or better than, far mote expensive cars, including the Porsche 911.

I have to admit that I was surprised by the performance of that car.
@neutronalchemist32413 жыл бұрын
For Gandini the Stratos had been a rushed project, equipped with an engine he didn't like that much. The X1/9 was the car he really believed in. He put in it all that he had. Weight distribution, scheme of suspensions, centering of the mass, use of space... For economic reason (it was intended to replace the 850 spider, an economic convertible meant to be a first-car for young drivers) it was equipped with the single-cam of the 128, but he knew that, with the Fiat Twincam (the will be X1/9 Abarth), the car would have been a blast.
@halnwheels2 жыл бұрын
I owned a '78 and an '85 from brand new. I loved them both but they should more be compared to a 914, not a 911. In fact, a 1.8 or 2.0 liter 4 cylinder 914 will cook a 911 of the same vintage on a road course. The X1/9, as wonderful a car as it is, requires more suspension and engine work than a 914 in order to get there.

Re the engine, he quotes over 200 rwhp from 1400 cc, but doesn't mention anything about the internals so I assume they are stock Uno Turbo. That's a power increase of over 100bhp over stock. Without seeing the dyno printout for torque and power, it's impossible to know if it's any good. I suspect the printout would prove how chasing a peak power figure comes at the expense of everything else. But the way, the small block Lampredi will make 200bhp, naturally aspirated, in fast road tune so what's the point of the turbo?
@CarsofSwedenlive4 жыл бұрын
I will put this question to Björn and have him answer it for you.
@markbowden72384 жыл бұрын
@@CarsofSwedenlive thanks, because I'd like to know if I've missed a trick! btw you'll notice he's using the stock throttle body which is basically the same as the Punto GT / X19 ie (US spec), and restrictive compared to ITB's.
@NalleNilson4 жыл бұрын
It is an overhauled 1,3l Uno Turbo Mk1 engine with stock internals except the cam that's from a Fiat Regata/Strada/Ritmo. 440cc injectors and a Mitsubishi TD04 HL14T Turbo. All new sensors and a MaxxECU Race ECU. Power increase is about 130-145 hp over stock (105 hp). Results from dyno says 205 hp and 267 Nm on the wheels. It has lots of torque/power in the mid range but peaks between 4000-6800rpm so the car performs good on both street and track. Not much happening above 7k.
@NalleNilson4 жыл бұрын
@@markbowden7238 Yes it is the stock TB. The MaxxECU and MAP sensor allowed me to remove the VERY restrictive stock AFM. The TB flows reasonably good.

Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)
