Still, this was only the qualifications. Who knows what will happen during the race, wether they meet technical problems, weather changes not well anticipated by the race strategists, if their race pace will match their quali and so on? Being on pole does not guarantee a victory, in WEC, so they will need to do everything it needs to get it, with the implied fair play. Credits given to whom and were it is due for being this fast to snatch the pole from their rivals, though

It's only fair. In F1 they're even weighed after the race... can't put a 50 KG Doriana in there to drive with 80 KG males and save yourself 30 KG.

I grew up in the Group C era and just assumed that's what sportscar racing would always be. To wait 30+ years and then get this is something special. I will always wish that I could have been there in the 1950s but honestly, this is the best period of Sportscar/Endurance racing I could ever imagine. Please Jaguar, come in with an XJR-26

The late 80s and all through the 90s were some really good races is when I got into this but it was more or less the cars this is the cars and the drivers. Not to diminish any drivers back then, play driver that had a name worth remembering was either in F1 or NASCAR.

@@anthonybonawitz444 I hear what you're saying, and I do agree that the driver line-ups today are far superior but that's not entirely accurate. Shumacher, Brundle, Nannini, Bell, Alliot, De Cadenet, Holbert, Wollelk, Schlesser, Nakajima, Boutsen, and on and on. I feel like it's the massive increase in reliability that has made the on track action so much better.

Attended my first WEC race and outright race today, WHAT A THRILL. I beg please, if you have the chance to go watch a race live, dont go to F1, go to WEC, IMSA, ELMS or some other category. Broadcasts have come a long way but still, its a COMPLETELY different world. The Mustang and especially the Caddy, WOW, family favourites. My dad, whos also attending a race for the first time, said hed never go to an F1 race rather than a WEC one, even if he had the money and I couldnt agree more

Yeah, really don't know what's going on there. They were nowhere near the pace at Le Mans, and yet the BOP for this race has given them more weight. I feel like before the car had an advantage on straights due the lack of wing, but with the little wing now the car is neither here nor there, so rather than having an advantage on straights it just has no advantage anywhere

They have been absolutely hammered by BoP. This far into the season I thought the ACO might start to ease up a bit but no. Maybe next year they'll start to get some more favourable BoP mods...I understand that the ACO doesn't want to encourage mid cycle changes or show favoritism towards French teams but damn it's almost cruel...

For those who think women cannot seriously compete with men in motorsport on equal machinery: watch this and think again. Frey, Bovy and Gatting have been as fast as anyone else out there the whole season, and they could be much higher in the standings if they hadn't had a ton of misfortune on their way here (watching their car being clipped by that ruthless Porsche hypercar at LM, while being among the leaders of the GT3 class was particularly painful! 😆), but I really hope that their moment to shine will arrive by the end of the season!
