Svetislav Pesic was the best national team coach Yugoslavia/SCG/Serbia had. He knew how to handle egos. He was strict but not strict over the top like some others. Had he stayed for extra two years we would've won the Olympics in 2004. It was basically this same team, just better due to maturation. Stojakovic in '04 was much better than in '02 as were many others. But Stojakovic and Obradovic, the next national team coach, were not on the same page and he didn't even play in '04.

Beautiful switching defense. Everyone can guard everyone. I was confused why Jarić was still in the game after playing so bad (turnovers, misses) but he was key to having all 5 players being able to defend anyone on the US team. It completely removed use of pick and roll, and it stopped US offense.

But the spacing was really poor, you could hear Stojakovic in the huddle, he said play narrow and let them shoot and in today's game that wouldn't pass against serious team. Same kind of ppl who'd say playing in chuck taylors like oldschool nba players is just as good as in modern shoes. Dont get me wrong tho, everything depends on the player but we did go a long way to improve player comfort on the court and being nostalgic about such menial things is a bit irrational

Looking at the stat sheet at the end of the 3rd quarter, some NBA teams finish with that much 3pt attempts after 1 quarter nowadays! Also, what a year for Stojakovic & Divac, they were so close in winning the NBA finals
@borisdavidov66004 жыл бұрын
Today you have no defensive play and everything goes mostly 1v1. Its funny how people only concentrate in the attack. Watch closely both teams and watch how good the defense then was. Today in the NBA you are practically playing with no defense.
@unclevalley24 жыл бұрын
@@borisdavidov6600 not only today, NBA has always been a show rather than real basketball. Rare to see dunk in international games cuz people would at least drag you to floor instead of watching you fly. Every NBA team needs a star to sell tickets, if theres not at the minute, then make one, you will see all other mates pass the ball to onr player abd thats why bench T MAC in Toronto transformed to super star in Orando. P.s. I like the style of T MAC tho
