Fibbr USB C to 3.5mm Headphone Adapter Mic Recording Tests & Review 🎙️

Review of the Fibbr USB Type C to 3.5mm Audio Adapter with a focus on microphone recording sound tests.
The adapter feels durable, with a good build quality. The little LED to indicate it has power is a nice touch. There's a USB C socket so that you can charge your phone whilst using the adapter, which supported fast-charging on my S9.
When I listed to music & a podcast on a pair of earbuds, I could detect no discernable difference between using the standard 3.5mm jack vs this adapter.
The signal that's recorded from a mic has a good frequency range, and a small amount of hiss on a Galaxy S9. You can see this in the spectrogram view in Audacity, which is shown in the review.
On the S9 the audio needed a +10dB gain adjustment to bring it in line with the 3.5mm jack, which is what makes the minor background hiss audible.
Overall, it's a nicely designed product, and I can recommend it for audio playback, as well as recording via a wired mic. The Anker has the edge if you're looking for a more compact adapter, but the Fibber lets you charge your phone at the same time as using it, so that might suit you better.

Thank you for your thorough tests of the different adapters. In the product descriptions of the adapters on the marketplaces you always find info about the sampling rates and resolutions of the digital to analog converter (DAC). This is helpful when it comes to the quality of the sound one hears. However, for professional Zoom calls on an Android tablet, I mainly need a good microphone quality for the call participants. And you almost never find anything about the quality of the conversion of the analog microphone to a digital signal (ADC I suppose). I failed with the first adapter. He was from MOSWAG, quite low-cost, with a result subjectively very similar to the Stouchi adapter in your other test. I researched for hours after I finally found your videos. Exactly the test I wanted. And great idea to provide Amazon links for Germany as well, I was happy to use it. I'm looking forward to test it in my setup with a Rode Go Microphon System that's going into an analog headset splitter that will now be plugged into the Fibbr-Adapter which finally goes into the USB-C port of a Samsung Tab S8 Ultra.

I'm glad you're finding the videos useful; it was something I couldn't find info on anywhere else either, and was amazed at how different they all behave when used to record audio. Good luck with your setup!

@@Endpoint101 This is how the story continued: The fibbr adapter arrived and made a good impression, but unfortunately there was no signal from the microphone at all. I must have caught a defective one of all things, what bad luck. I'm sure the fibbr hardware works fine in general, and this could just happen with any manufacturer. But to be sure and to rule out any possible incompatibilities, I then ordered the Anker adapter from your other video and now it finally worked. Brilliant sound - it's funny what quality differences there are for the same money. So thanks again and keep up the valuable content, saved me some serious headaches :)
