It needs something soft like silicone rubber around the edges of the moving part to prevent it making a noise when it snaps back together, and to properly seal it when closed. Trust me when I say we have one for each extractor fan in our house and: #1. They don't stop all the draft - not even close. #2. When the wind is above 25-30mph that thing will rattle back and forth A LOT. It does with ours and it's hella annoying.
@Endpoint1012 күн бұрын
Agreed; having a thin o-ring of silicone rubber would be ideal, but I've not found one which has that. We also hear it tapping in high winds.. we reduce this by closing the door of the room with the extractor & that usually helps a lot.

Is there something similar for a cooker vent/ extractor fan ? My kitchen is freezing and when it rained it was coming in though the vent , until my husband fitted a different cover.Thank you.
@Endpoint10124 күн бұрын
You could fit the backdraft shutter nearer the outside wall than where the extractor fan is.. that way you don't need to mess with the cooker hood, just go in from the outside wall. Just make sure you fit it the right way round! :)

Hah, that 2k camera looks like it purely has a wide angle lens on it, and a sharpening filter! Look at the state of the bush at the end of the garden there, highlighting every leaf, and then at night you can see the noise on the sensor as it highlights what it can detect. The sensor seems very poor in comparison to the 1080p camera, feels like they've cheapened on the sensor and then tried to compensate for it with the lens and filter. Unfortunate.
@Endpoint101Ай бұрын
It’s little wonder they cost almost the same 😉 Having no control over the bitrate also doesn’t help the situation. I still like the cameras.. they’re good for the price, but you just need to be ok with their limitations.

@Endpoint101Ай бұрын
Hi! I never got around to creating a final look at the result. I do have a few pictures of it from Oct 2022 but intended to do a video showing it in action, together with how to set the screen orientation. Due to the low number of views on the series I guess I lost enthusiasm, but really should do a Part 6 to finish it off! I'll see whether I can put something together, so hit Subscribe & you'll get notified on my uploads. In the mean time, the other parts give you what you need to do this mod yourself, but feel free to ask questions if you hit anything you want a hand with.
