Lovely episode and the yarn segment was very interesting. I'd love to hear you talk about Plotulopi and maybe Istex in general if you've used their other yarns (Lettlopi, Einband etc). Icelandic yarn always fascinates me because it looks so rough but it's also so popular with knitters (at least some knitters!). It would also be interesting to know the reasoning/design process of why you would use an unspun like Plotulopi for the pattern designs you've used them in? Thank you and always look forward to your episodes 🙂

Hi Lærke!! Enjoyed my time with you this morning. Thanks for the conversation about how you choose the appropriate cast on and bind off for your designs. Your explanations were great and very helpful! I often sub a 3 needle bind off when a pattern recommends grafting the shoulders. I don’t mind the bind off seam and I find it gives a bit more support. My favorite bind off for stockinette or garter on a shawl is Elizabeth Zimmerman’s sewn bind off.

I was just watching a couple of your older podcasts the past couple of days with all the baby knits! I have baby #4 coming in a couple weeks and wanted some more inspiration on what to knit :). The new patterns look great! Oh you should definitely do a little garden tour when the weather gets a little milder! Spring is just around the corner (at least here in Canada). Take care :)

Hello, thank you for this nice podcast. I love Wooldreamers too, and I've knitted a sweater with Tierra, the same as yours. I had the same issue, I lacked one skein, I had to finish one sleeve and the collar. For the collar it's ok, but you can see it on the sleeve... I used many times Manchelopi, not so easy to knit with, but I like it. Have a nice end of week-end 🧡

I discovered the joy of Wool Dreamers last year and have fallen in love with it as well! One of my local yarn stores has a sample of your Gro Hat knit up in Wool Dreamers Mota, and the stitch definition is beautiful. Perhaps I need a Gro Shawl next...

That dark Spanish merino looks gorgeous! I enjoyed the Humlebi despite my misgivings about the whole bottom up thing. I did have to make a bunch of extra repeats to make it work for my size (I'm not incredibly big around, but boy howdy am I tall and long limbed. As written it would have been seriously short), so I'm looking forward to the release of this one. If you ever need a test knitter that is a different length than normal, let me know. Happy to keep track of how much yarn is used per inch to lengthen things in the body and arms. :D

You have such a nice voice, and a calm over you that I love. I'm knitting on a shawl that I am designing (just for me, for fun) whilst watching this episode. Watching you always takes me back to my childhood too! We used to go on holiday (from Belgium,) to Føns, in Funen. :-) I have the best memories of that place.

Another great podcast, Laerke! I'm loving the cable texture on your cardigan and the Perikon sweater. Thanks so much for doing a feature on Wool Dreamers yarns. I just purchased their Manchelopis on Thursday. I got the soft green color and can't wait to knit with it.

Lærke, It looks like the Wooldreamer's color cards you received are for their Mota (DK) and/or Cautiva (fingering/sport) yarns. Like you, my favorite yarns are dyed on their darker bases. Besitos desde La Mancha, @lamanchaknitter

I would also love to hear about working with spun Lopi yarns. I love the colors and made an entire pullover that I have struggled to wear since it is SO itchy. I have tried vinegar, conditioner, lanolin and everything else I can think of. ❤

I really enjoy your podcast, and that room is beautiful (love that green wall ❤), but I wonder if you might consider improving your setup to increase the light, sit closer to the camera, and have your camera and microphone in approximately the same location. I was waiting to see if you were going to talk about Mota! There has been a lot of discussion online among knitters because this supposedly DK yarn knits up definitely more like worsted weight! I do really like their colors.

I love your work in progress cardigan, look forward to see it develop. I love the colour, I have used the wool dreamers unspun, I held the two strands together, I would be too inpatient to use just one . I do like the depth of colour, dying on darker fleece, it has inspired me. Take care, I hope spring happens soon, we are having a chilly end of winter here in British Columbia, Canada.

I love the part about the Spanish yarn...new to me so can't wait to give some a try. I also wanted to thank you for your Gotland yarn I just recieved in the mail...it's lovey and the grey is so rich. Have you tried the Icelandic bind off? I have been using it on the hems of garmets and so far really love the look and stretch. I find it faster than the tubular or Italian bindoffs. Thanks again for sharing Laerke.

@FiberTales
@FiberTales 5 ай бұрын
