Welcome back to Another episode!
In this episode, we show the fibreglassing that was completed in the last few weeks leading up to getting the boat ready for paint. The next month or so we start to prepare the boat for paint, which I think is very exciting!

Some Brit named Ian came and took my Internet connection away at the end of September and I now finally have internet again. I thought that the boat might be done before I'd get to see another episode, but it looks like there are at least a few more episodes to go before it finally hits the water. 😊

Fairing and sanding is shitty work to do but it will all be worth it when the paint goes on. Great job on all the glass work, it looks good and strong. Cheers!

helpful tip is to apply your fairing mix with a say a 3-4mm small notched spreader like a tiler would use. This gets the compound on fast and uniform in thicknes. You then go back over it with the smooth steel trowl to flatten it out. If there is high spots, when you hit it with the smooth trowel, it will naturally scrape it off the highs and pull the compound into the lows. Some just leave it troweled with the notched spreader, leave it to cure. Then long board it, then come back with a second mix and fill any notches that weren't removed in the sanding stage.

Hi Mack, What is process you followed to glass in the windows? My guess is to block one side with melamine or similar and tab in layers. Then remove melamine and bog in opposite side with filler. Am I on the right track?

Great work mate, I wish I'd seen your battery brackets earlier. I've just replaced my brackets & found old fixing holes underneath the batteries that were letting in water which had been a long time problem. I've now raised the immediate battery area approx 10mm with new fiberglass to ensure any water drains away to the bilge but wish I'd seen your idea. All my new screw fastenings were put in with Sikaflex marine sealant so I'm hoping it will be ok. Anyhow, top stuff again mate, can't wait to see the finished job.

Gday mate great work ,when i replaced the haines transom i did exactly the same thing q cell and resin , it makes it so much easier when you can sand it with out to much of a problem . i didnt know about a long board then so just used a plasterers sand board i was very happy how it turned out ,took a few layers to get it good using a long straight edge but was excellent in the end when painted you would not even know take care .
