That was absolutely fascinating. I've had fibromyalgia for decades, and I also have neck problems but no doctor has ever found any physical cause for that. My neck problems give me classical migraines which disappear when I go to the chiropractor to get it released. I get random palpitations - sometimes with shortness of breat - I have high blood pressure but if I take it at home while sitting quietly it's pretty much always fine (after a few days of 'white coat' response), and I have panic attacks and anxiety and balance problems. The rest (poor sleep, chronic pain, GERD, etc etc) tend to fit in with normal fibro symptoms. I do wish UK doctors would be more up-to-date with fibromyalgia studies.

I think this presentation (or one of his) made me realise that my fibro is caused by sleep issues, and ever since I've been able to regulate some of my symptoms by paying a lot of attention to my sleep, and I've never been in a flare again so bad that I couldn't get out of bed, which used to be something that happened regularly. Thank you! This video has helped me more than any doctor's visit in the past 10 years.

WOW! This is incredible. It is like you read my medical history! ADHD, hypermobility, panic disorder, tachycardia, sleep disruption, restless leg syndrome...... even my flat feet! All the diagnoses you mentioned, I have them all. And it is really freaky that you even knew my personality traits and career choices! This is truly truly outstanding! Now I need to sort this dopamine thing. And a contribution to your research. Thank you so very much. This research WILL save lives.

I visited institute of TCM in Beijing in china a few years ago, and was explaining my illness fibromyalgia. One of the professor did some routine consultation tests on me. His conclusion was, all my medical issues stemmed from my neck. I do have neck issues. But am holding surgery at bay, because I've let my docter know, that when i treat myself with reflexology, especially the neck reflexes, my neck issues ease right off. From someone who has chronic fibromyalgia, but refuses to give up. Very interesting seminar to watch.

It would be a wonderful thing if our doctors all listened to these lectures and read these studies. Sadly, we mostly deal with "your weakness and pain make no sense, your mri isn't that bad" - heard this just yesterday at my Dr's visit. I wasn't to just scream out "I know my symptoms don't make any sense but please STOP BLOWING ME OFF and do some research!" Finding a doctor with this information is impossible, I've been at it for 15 years. I'm in North Arkansas and would love to find a Dr near me who specializes in Fibromyalgia like you all do.

20 years ago I was diagnosed with Mild to Moderate Cervical Stenosis after a whiplash injury. Prednisone remitted the serious symptoms, but since I've been plagued by various enigmatic symptoms, but definitely chronic fatigue. The CFS has plagued me consistently, and upon watching this, I am going to pursue this approach.

Amazing talk. I have fibromyalgia. I am also hypermobile, have restless legs, grind my teeth, I have a long history of SVT, I sleep for 9 hours a night but don't feel rested when I wake up. I am also a qualified teacher and software engineer and I have worked as a professional artist. On top of that I have a cervical neck injury - prolapsed disc.

More people wirh fibromyalgia than MS, Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis put together with such severe suffering, losing careers, families, losing your sicial life everything. Yet barely any funding. Interesting reading this today because now it's a centralized pain sensitization. I wonder what they will make up next.

That could possibly be true because I worked for 15 years as a manager and I had to wake up every morning at 3am and I developed everything he is talking about. I was a very detail oriented, driven person. I definitely have neck issues. However, any type of massage, physical therapy makes everything become more inflammed but nothing shows up on an MRI. I do wish someone would really find a reason and a cure. By the way, I wrote this before I saw the end with the MRI scans of the neck. I guarantee you that my spinal canal decreases when I look up because it is so hard for me to look up, lay in a hairdresser chair, etc. This makes more sense to me than anything I've ever seen about Fibromyalgia

Nothing comes up on an MRI because it's been discovered that it's literally all in our brain. Dopemine production centers in the brain of sufferers like you and I show shrinkage in CT scans of the brain in the centers that produce dopemine. We are dopemine deficient essentially!

Exciting updates. Between Dr Holman & Dr Wood I have heard a description of my life and symptoms that spans fifty years. I had given up hope that there was anything that could really help. I’m grateful there is excellent research going on and hope new insights will be adopted in treatment settings. Wish I could have seen the slideshow.

Hyper mobility, ADHD, fibro, chronic fatigue, teeth grinding, sweating, crazy hot for no reason, Flat feet, knee pain, spine arthritis, teacher, multi tasking ...all of this is me. So what do we do for it? I also have osteoarthritis but no IBS or irritable bowel. I had a sleep study to check for sleep apnea and they said I sleep fine. Not sure they checked my 4th stage sleep. Would that show up on a sleep apnea study? Would love to come see this doctor and get to the bottom of all of this. I am so tired of pain and fatigue. Strangely I have no real flairs, just constant pain 24/7. Where is this doctor located?
@MrTimo11245 жыл бұрын
Kristin, you need to get your neck checked by an Orthospinologist! You might have a small misalignment like me that they can fix, and most of these horrible symptoms slowly start to go away and life gets better because your spinal cord isn't being irritated anymore and turning on your fight or flight system ( 4 months ago for me and still getting better) Look up NUCCA or Upper Cervical Chiropractors and go get a free consult. Reply back or message me if you need more info

VERY enlightening! The Benign Hypermobility - (Have FMS) . I have flat feet, knee pain, occas. plantar fasciitis.... but can't touch toes or even kneel with rear to heels... Could this be caused by trigger points (from FMS pain) causing myofascial pain with muscle shortening and stiffness? Also, will treating obstructive sleep apnea with CPAP also treat the alpha intrusion into delta sleep? Where can someone with neck pain get an extension MRI? Thanks again! Wish my docs would see this!

I was diagnosed this year with Fibromyalgia, but have been suffering for 3 years. Does anyone else have heart palpitations and high blood pressure issues?
@MrTimo11245 жыл бұрын
Christy yea I do. It's probably because your spinal cord is being irritated and disrupting your autonomic nervous system as Dr. Holman mentioned. There are so many possible causes. For me I suffered for 4 years until recently figuring out the top bone in my neck (atlas bone) was out of alignment and squeezing my spinal cord and brain stem, activating my ANS while I slept. An orthospinologist chiropractor can fix this - you don't need surgery, or a referral to see them. There are only a few hundred of these specialists in the USA, so just look them up. It's also called Upper Cervical care, or atlas orthogonal treatment. It will change your life

Is there a study about the frequency of Fibromalysia in MS families? Maybe there are two groups of fibro patients. The mainly pain group and the mainly fatigue-migrene-RLS group. But then there are not many studies on fibro all together. Its just so much easier to call it hypochondia and psychologically illnes. After all doctors hate these patiens because they make them feel like they fail, because nobody can help you if you hav fibra. Even as a child I alsways said: if you are severely ill nobody can help you.

Interesting stuff, esp the sleep stuff, which any sufferer with flairs will attest to. But as a Fibro sufferer whose up to date on 2022 studies, a lot of this is non applicable or superfluous. I mean both medically and anecdotally. Pathologically speaking, the neuroimmune/inflammation and endocrinological causality narratives are the prominent (and most revered as in line with self reporting) these days. The hypermobility, tender/trigger point stuff is not aligned at all en mass. So just take this video as another insight into how complex and multi pronged the causes and symptons are, albeit a great one for 2007.
