My Ficus Alii grows very fast in summer when in bright indirect light. Love this underrated tree. Thanks for sharing

Do you keep it indoors or out?

All my leaves went brown on the ends, I cut it back to bare and its regrowing lots of leaves now. I had to downpot it as it wasn't drying out well in winter and now I'm hopeful for better growth and stabalization this year. Fingers crossed

I have own my Alii for maybe two years now. I have notice lately that it has started dropping it leaves. It has not drop leaves like this before. Your Alii is beautiful.

This plant is beautiful and makes a nice contrast to the broader leafed indoor trees that’s currently popular in Australia. Unfortunately I’ve never come across this in any of the nurseries and garden centres in my town, though sometimes I see it online but at exorbitant prices. It’s definitely not talked about in the “trendy” English speaking plant communities - it only came in my radar after I started watching Japanese Plant KZbinrs and I was wondering what these stunning Bonsai-ish eucalyptus that can be grown indoors was.

I know , I agree with you. I saw a 15 ft tall ficus Alii at my local garden nursury a few weeks ago. It's be a nightmare to transport but in the right house with enormous ceilings it would be incredible

Hi! I was wondering if you have any tips - my Ficus Alii is lovely on one side, but the other has hardly any leaves and it almost looks like some of the little branches are dried up/dead. I've been rotating it, but do you know of any other reasons it might be doing this? Or maybe ways I can help it grow more evenly? Thanks!

Cut off all the dead branches. Shape it so that it has more of a desired look. Face the lopsided side towards the sun till it starts to grow.

I got this plant a month ago and I didn’t water it very often, but the leaves are shedding. Could you give some tips.

Good to know: the watering-cycle depends on the room-temperature, and yes! They do need light to grow!! If they have lots of light&warmth, and with that, water, the alii as well as the benjamini grow all year round! I know, cause I have both of them and their thriving😊

I just bought a Ficus Alii and LOVE this beautiful, graceful tree but am struggling keeping it healthy. It's been dropping leaves every day even though I am only watering every 10 to 14 days. I have it by a window with a full spectrum grow light over it. I rotate it for even sun coverage. I have a heavily wooded yard so my tall windows don't let in full sun. I used the slow release fertilizer recommended by the plant store and have only fertilized once. Can you recommend a different strategy? I really want it to thrive and will do anything for success!

They are really low maintenance and it sounds like it's getting enough light from what you describe. I've let mine dry out completely and it's not affected it much. If it's dropping its leaves and you've just bought it I would check it's roots for rot, it doesn't sound like anything you've done. Sometimes plants just come with disease when you buy them.

Hey! Great video! I’m wondering if you have any insight about my Ficus alii dropping leaves. I’ve had it for about 2 months and we had a bunch of new leaves open when we first got it. We’ve got tons of small “spiky” leaves that have yet to open up but haven’t seen one open since the initial wave of openings 2 months ago. Meanwhile our ficus is dropping 1-2 leaves per day. The plant looks great otherwise but I don’t want it to slowly die off. It’s currently in a spot that received 250-400 Lux on average and gets watered roughly every 10-14days depending on the weather. I’m a little stumped by it! Any insight you have would be greatly appreciated!

Check to see if its outbound. Sometimes the top is an indicator of what is going on below. Its under some type of stress

Also check your humidity

Last summer I repotted and kept in porch but there also the leaves were falling
@plantmarksthepot56183 жыл бұрын
What temperatures are you exposing it to? They can tolerate being moved but are you moving it alot? It's under some sort of stress, you have to find the source

Why is my plant Alli shedding leaves all the time ,new leaves are coming up too but falling too fast
@plantmarksthepot56183 жыл бұрын
Check the roots , is it root bound? If so repot . Also maybe try brighter light if it's in too low of light
@stormnr23 жыл бұрын
you maybe overwatered the plant. heck the roots, they are maybe rotten.

It's a tree, so it's definitely evolved to thrive in full tropical sun.
