I love your educational and endearing comments (your Charlie Brown ficus!)... I've learned so much about the leca life here. Thanks so much!!

I have ficus lyrata which I transfered into leca in late November ( about 2 months ago). It did lose one baby leaf in a few days after it was repotted into leca. but it put out the new leaf in a few weeks and has been thriving since then. After I washed the roots to get the soil off, it was replanted into leca right away with super thrive solution reservoir in the bottom 3rd. It started growing water roots in a few days. I'm still trying to figure out what I should or shouldn't do when I transfer the plants into leca but for some reason every situation seem to work differently. 🙁

I have two ficus Tineake, one variegated and one dark green, in leca. They have been in leca for five months and are starting to put out new growth just now. They took forever to transition but with lots of patience, they are now thriving.

My fiddle leaf plant has all the leaves drooping. I have it in lecca. What should I do.

Do you use nutrients in the water.

I just got a small ficus and transitioned him to LECA yesterday. He's so sad, soft, and droopy now :( The edges are getting a bit crinkled too. Any tips on what to do here? It seems like it's underwatered, but he's got a full reservoir of water and I'm so scared he's actually overwatered and will get root rot! Please help thanks!!

Don’t do a full reservoir for at least 4 to 6 weeks

@@prettyinplants9580 Should I keep it completely empty for 4-6 weeks?

ficus are famous for being able to retain quite a bit of water in the roots for a while and they’re good at telling you when they need water because they droop - I just transferred one and I filled it up at first with water for about 30 minutes and then I drain the whole thing out and I’ll do that again once a week -or 2-until it looks like it’s happy

How is your variegated f. Lyrata doing since it’s been in LECA? Did yours drop any leaves in the transition? Any new growth since it’s been in LECA? I acquired one recently and I’m wanted to switch from soil but am terrified I will kill her...

i read youre supposed to change the water/rinse every two weeks? does this not apply to ficus?

I don’t do any of those rules

I'm transferring a young, small ficus Audrey into leca because the soil was wet & infested with gnats. Would you recommend only using water + superthrive? Or literally just leaving it dry in leca?
@prettyinplants95804 жыл бұрын
Wash out really well...allow to dry...put dry in dry LECA

What do you mean by letting it dry out in semi hydro ? Like at the point where there is no water in the reservoir ?

Absolutely

I’m always letting my water in the reservoir to 1/3 of my inner pot, if the water is lower I top it off. I’ve never let any plant dry out. I wanted to transfert my ficus Lyrata and my ficus elastica for a while, so in your opinion I’d have to water it once normally and not top it off, wait until there’s no water in the reservoir? Do I do that every time or just at the beginning ?
@prettyinplants95804 жыл бұрын
I just allow it to cycle from wet to dry to super dry...then water...every time.

My second rubber tree to LECA attempt and she is starting to droop just like my first one. Roots are brownish, but no rot and no new roots after weeks. Any suggestions?

Add more light and humidity if possible
