Yaow! That Constable is brutal! I feel like there is more humanity for the character on the page than what we see here. Between his warning Tevye of the "demonstration" and then urging the villagers to sell what they can while they can at the end, we see someone with at least a sliver of empathy. But this guy... I wonder why he bothered to warn Tevye at all? He gave the solider a stick to beat a defenceless man with. If he's so remorselessly cruel, while show any kindness at all? (Other than increased realism? Maybe the director felt that The Constable needed to be pure evil to showcase how awful the pogroms were...) Interesting choices. :)

Not all the violinists at the wedding sequence were men one or two of them were women dressed as Jewish men of the period.
