Why do we make these comparison videos?

I think Mechanical Pegs would be a good upgrade cause 1) you can take the fine tuners off the tailpiece to enhance the sound (like a Baroque Viola) & 2) they won't slip or rub against the peg holes.

The 15.5" viola's C string is loud and nasal. The 16" viola's C string is rich and chocolaty. Even across the other strings including the E string, the 16"er sounds better overall. 🔊✅

Can these be played in an orchestra?

One strong vote for the 16" viola. The lows are fabulous, and I'm very surprised that the E string is so resonant and responsive. Yes, it's larger and a bit harder to stretch out. However, I do believe that the 5-string viola has more playing room and is less cramped than a 5-string violin. Mmmmmm, I wonder if I should buy one of your fine 16" 5-string violas.......could be.
