I rarely comment on a video after watching it only once, and classical music has always intimidated me. But, as someone whose mother tongue is Sesotho, this moved me beyond what I anticipated. Thank you Classic FM, and thank you Abel Selaocoe. 😭😭😭

As someone who played the violin for 8 years and some change, somewhat classically trained, this man ignited a spark. Haven't really played in 20 years. So thankful for this human being just doing whatever feels natural with the tools he was given.

Besides the amazing creativity and composition here, the technique is stellar. I've worked my whole life to just be able to do relatively simple left-handed pizz as a cellist, and this man effortlessly executes complete rhythmically dynamic runs of left-handed pizzicato that is both well phrased and crystal clear. I've seen violinists do it, but rarely have I seen a cellist do it so well and with such expressive projection. I'm ashamed I have only just become aware of Abel. This was amazing.

As a violinist i can say. He brings very new influence for the cello. 500% better then all pop music together. Keep on going. Great.
@Keef3357 ай бұрын
that's an unfair statement. Pop music is popular because it appeals to people. Some people might not like this music. The claim that something is 'better' in this context is completely subjective.

@@Keef335 modern pop music is usualy factualy profit and not enjyoment/"music"/"quality" driven (I can iterate if wanted) But pop music is its own kind of art, I agree It tries to be as easily digestible, repetative and simple as possible, while not being boring The art is to make it easy to remember, get into, sing and jam along to, dance to and because of that, they try to get to the border of boring, but not cross it

@@keytron1391This is why I personally don't listen to modern music. It's still supposed to be like early digestible and catchy but it really can't scratch my itch of seeing the creativity of musicians musically and seeing how they develop ideas.

Dude is so precise! Love the way he finds interesting ways to accent rhythm; with the clicking tones of what I assume is his native language, and the hammering on the fingerboard with his left hand, to the “sharp” stocatto bowing!
