As a vegan violin/viola teacher and violinist/violist I find this really interesting! I also have some vegan students and friends who would definitely be interested. Affordable alternatives to animal cruelty will always always my first choice. Another plus is if it's sustainable by the way! Would love to know if you ship to Germany or German luthiers. Someone mentioned below how vegans feel about hide glue -- of course I feel uncomfortable with it but as far as I know there currently is no alternative. It indeed is a compromise to my vegan lifestyle. However, it's not like I work in a slaughterhouse or am a butcher; at least I am not inflicting direct pain to the animals. And I always choose to avoid consuming animal products and byproducts in the rest of the aspects of my life. Veganism is not a competition, it's about choosing non-violence in as many areas of life as possible ;)

excellent julia! i wonder if hide glue could be replaced with weldbond (vegan glue). hide glue is used because you can take the instrument apart using heat afaik. weldbond is water soluble so i would think it would come apart just with water. this looks like an excellent bow and he plays very nicely imho (though his interviews are somewhat ...)

How long can you go before it has to be rehaired?
@Fiddlershop Жыл бұрын
Hi! It shouldn't need to be rehaired, but we don't know for sure. Most people say it lasts for many years. We have only sold this bow for one year, so...

@Darkstar0012 жыл бұрын
The same way they feel about animal products being used in all sorts of other things.
