I am not sure what Mr. Sutovsky said about the Australian Open players playing for 2:00-3:00 AM regularly. Rarely happens and when it happens usually there is a lot lot of conversation and criticism regarding the same. I also believe Mr. Sutovsky must address why the presidential limits have been removed and is it not in the process of dictatorship. However, I think we must ask pointed questions to Mr. Sutovsky regarding key hard-hitting issues. I believe how the arbiters and how FIDE reacted to the Dubov-Nepo controversky, shoe controversy etc. left a lot to be desired.

I'm only half way through the interview so maybe this came up so forgive me if it does. But something I'm thinking that needs to be addressed in Chess is the path to GM. First a little background, I'm from a small Caribbean island (Saint Lucia) and I'm a volunteer at a primary school teaching 3rd and 4th graders. And while we have an official Chess federation we don't have a historical culture of Chess making it difficult to get support for Chess development. The problem we face is access to FIDE rated tournaments and competitors outside of our tiny pool of players. So my question is does FIDE have any plans to increase the number of hybrid tournaments to reduce the financial burden of traveling to take part in the necessary events to gain rating points? And does FIDE have any thoughts on adjusting the norm system to get IM or GM titles? Because as it stands there is an inherent regional advantage and of course the unspoken issues of what we may call "norm forms" where tournaments are allegedly rigged to gain an unfair advantage to those who can afford it. I don't expect them to have actionable answers as to what they may or may not be doing but I would be very interested as to what the organisation thinks about these things and if it's even on their radar as an issue. I'm working hard on developing Chess here and I know it's a challenging endeavour. But It's hard to sell students and parents on a dream that they don't have a realistic path to accomplish. So I sell them on the value Chess can bring to their lives outside of titles and championships. But that's a difficult thing because it's so intangible. I'll keep working with the aim that one day we can develop a prodigy who can make a splash on the international scene and become and inspiration to our nation. FYI for a country with a population of under 200 thousand we have two Nobel Laureates and in the Paris Olympics we just won a Gold and Silver in women's 100m and 200m sprint. So I know we can develop a GM! BTW... I believe our Chess Federation will have a contingent at the Olympiad and I would be over the moon to see them covered on your channel... ❤ 🇱🇨 That's our flag 😊

chess is not for poor i feel. you need expensive coaches and expensive training, travel a lot to get to GM. I feel dont waste TOOOOO much of your time and energy playing chess, unless you or someone you teach has WC talent or can become close to WC you know. anyone below top 10 players i feel finds very hard to survive on chess alone. they need to at some point in their lives leave chess and find a regular job which doesnt earn as much. imo.

Just want to appreciate your efforts. This is a pretty important issue for Indians too, even with so many Indians becoming GMs as they have to travel to Europe and only those that have money or have sponsorships can afford to do so.

@@MrHaha1508 So true. believe me guys. i have spent all my childhood playing chess and i could have easily become a GM but then my 10th standard was approaching fast and i came from middle class family in India so my parents sat me and told me to focus on studies as chess wont earn me much even if i become GM. And i hated them for a while for saying that because all i wanted to do was play chess. But now looking back, i am earning well and i realize i couldnt have done that if I had not focus on studies and focussed solely on chess. And also if you are not focussed solely on chess then you might not as well play chess seriously, since it is a serious game and needs serious effort to get to GM. There is no glory in becoming GM as it once used to be. Just my opinion guys.

@@SG-vh3tiThe way I'm looking at it is similar to any education. You can gain PhD level knowledge and understanding without the investment in a university but that comes with its own disadvantages but still worth it. So I'm teaching and training my students to aim for GM-level strength understanding they may never have their efforts recognized with a title. So I tell all of them that their academic education comes first, their development of healthy and long-term relationships comes second, and Chess improvement third. But it all comes after God. And if it is their destiny to become a titled player then whatever we need to make that happen will be provided for us as we continue to commit ourselves to the process.

@@jodya.vonwahl2413 all I m saying is there is a big difference between getting a phd vs getting to GM. Odds of you surviving well after PHd is much higher than surviving just on being GM. GM these days just gives you bragging rights but nobody in top 10-20 in the world treats a normal GM with any respect. No respect and no pay because you get invitations. So if you want to pursue chess or any sport, go ahead it’s a matter of free will but know that odds are stacked against you

I don't like the Knockout, mini-match format for the World Blitz. After someone wins, the loser goes crazy next game with all-out attacks. It's very rare for the first loser to recover in a mini-match. The current Swiss format has been very exciting during the past few years.
