Mikey from The Crochet Crowd did a video on lining a crochet blanket with fleece. No need to sew. Uses a skip blade from a rotary cutter then crochet the blanket to the backing.

I love joining like this! Great hold but easy to do too tight. If you want just a slip knot stipe down the join then hold the yarn under the two squares the whole time. Looks clean! Beautiful work!!!!

wow, so beautiful and the square is not as complicated as i thought it would be. I have used this yarn to make dragon scale fingerless gloves - it's nice to work with. I like Lion Brand Landscapes better although you do not get as much in a ball and it is more expensive too. Another yarn like this i love is Cygnet Boho Spirit.

Just finished my first flower with a 3.5 mm hook mentioned in this video. It's so beautiful! Written pattern says 4.5 mm hook so will try that with the next flower. Both should work just fine. When I make granny blankets for my grandkids I add fleece backing. I measure the back of my Afghan in both directions to the length I want the backing to go. I usually leave the pretty afghan border without a back. I then add an inch to each side. So if you have a 48 x 48 inch blanket I cut a 50 x 50 inch backing. I then iron 1/2 in of each side of the backing fabric towards the wrong side. When that is done I iron over another 1/2 in around each side towards the back of the fabric. So you are basically folding each side toward the back of the fabric twice making a hem. Then I machine sew the hem down with matching colored thread. Now you line up the backing fabric to the Afghan wrong sides together. Pin this in place. My cheap sewing machine doesn’t sew over yarn that well so I sew the fabric to the Afghan by hand by using an invisible hem stitch. It takes time but it’s worth it. You can search KZbin for invisible hem stitch or blind stitch by hand and it will take you through it. It’s not hard. It just takes time.

Can you explain what an invisible hem stitch is. I would rather sew by hand than by machine. My luck my project would get caught in the machine and ruin it. Not taking that chance.

@@jasongreenblatt6068 I'll tell you specifically, 1) how pretty it is to look at - that was the first thing that drew me 2) how easy Annoo makes it look to make it, which gives me confidence that I can also make it. 3) her choice of yarn - I would think to use that yarn for a wearable but Annoo thinks outside the box and has given me the idea to not only think of how something is recommended but think wider. I love that about her tutorials. 4) I have a cousin who is pregnant so I am looking for baby blanket ideas. I'm a girly girl and this blanket to me is shouting girly.
