Hi. Thanks for video. What is the minimum thrust (ft lb) motor that you’d use for this heavy kayak? And what shaft length do you recommend? Thanks!

Did you register as a powered boat being it has a motor now?

Would like to see how you raise and lower the trolling motor once you get into the water. Anyway you can send me pictures?

So I fish mostly saltwater in my shadow caster I’m trying to find a way to get my battery inside the hull to avoid corrosion. I have the the same size battery as you. Any ideas !?!? It won’t fit in the front hatch.

Could u get with me with some details on doing the trolling motor. I have the same yak and a trolling motor already.
@travismurdock61907 жыл бұрын
Just bought two of these kayaks. Once your motor is installed, how do you get it down to the water? You have your back handle covered up with the trolling motor mount.

Travis Murdock glad you asked I used to have to teach back and fold it down and it was hard but I have come up with a system to do it much easier. I drilled a small hole through the tongue of the lever and then used paracord to add a lease to the lever. I ran the cord up to where my crate is. I can send you pics if my not so well description didn't help

I noticed on your part 2 video that you use a cart to move kayak to the water. Having that motor on the back would make it much tougher to pick up on the kayak. Did you make the cart yourself?

How do you lift it up out of the water and drop it back in when you come up on rocks or stumps? Or the boat ramp?
@BottomlandOutdoors6 жыл бұрын
I plan to do a update on this video sometime when the weather gets nice to show how I’ve resolved a lot of the problems with the initial build. I did end up adding a lever and a cord so I could fold up the trolling motor in situations like you’ve mentioned.

@BottomlandOutdoors7 жыл бұрын
Philip Stephens it's not a extension kit I just bought all the materials to extend it. It would be nice if they made that though unfortunately I hade to gather all materials separately.

? for ya how hard or easy is the shadow to row on a lake, easy? hard?
@BottomlandOutdoors7 жыл бұрын
david hampton it's a heavy kayak so it doesn't track very well. But it's very stable so you can stand up and fish. Just gotta pick which aspect you want more. Wide = slow, Wide = stable
@ucuniversity28697 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info im picking one up tomorrow. I plan on putting a trolling motor on, so problem solved on the slow.

David. The shadow Caster is like paddling a tank. However is very stable. Installed a 40lb thrust on my wife's a 50lb thrust on mine, had to out do hers. The 40lb is plenty for this kayak the 50lb thrust a bit much.

The bolts that go through the plywood the only bolts? Did you drill any into the kayak
@BottomlandOutdoors6 жыл бұрын
Zachary Russell I eventually had to set a few small screws into the top for keeping the mount from sliding.
@zacharyrussell81026 жыл бұрын
Alright thanks. Going to add a trolling motor to mine. Just trying to find the best way to do it
@zacharyrussell81026 жыл бұрын
Bottomland Outdoors did you add sealant around the screws?
