Testing / demonstrating the Wouxun KG-UV920P's Two-Way Cross Band Repeat functionality (X-TWRPT mode). This test was done in the vicinity of Cagsawa Ruins, about 7 to 8 kilometers away from the repeater's physical location.
Here's how it works...
VHF to UHF
Transmission from Baofeng VHF radio (145.040) on high-power TX level (around 3-4W) is picked up by the VHF side (listening or RX side) of the KG-UV920P repeater system (7-8km away). The same transmission is simultaneously relayed to the UHF side of the repeater system and re-transmitted to the UHF frequency of the setup (462.700) using 30-35W (High) transmit power then finally, the Baofeng UHF radio receives the transmission.

Some observations about the audio quality:
VHF radio to UHF radio = noisy and choppy
UHF radio to VHF radio = less choppy, a lot audible
The Wouxun KG-UV920P in two-way cross band repeat mode is hooked to a dual-band antenna. No separate duplexer is used in cross band repeat mode.
Thanks for watching. Kind regards from the Philippines!
